A very nice guitar at a great price

By Sweetwater Customer on July 10, 2023

This is my 4th Gretsch guitar. My experience has always been excellent with this brand and Sweetwater and this Rancher Dreadnought is quite a great find. The Fishman pickup and controls (volume, equalizer, tuner) push this acoustic-electric guitar ahead of many others. I have had experience with several other well-known brands acoustic and electric, but now keep coming back to Gretsch.

Great guitar

It's very comfortable to play this guitar

Great guitar

By Steve from Georgia, USA on December 10, 2021 Music Background: Self taught, playing for last 4-5 years

I've only owned cheap, old, off-brand used guitars before I bought this one. With new strings and upgraded bridge pins I was pretty satisfied with my old guitars but it was only because my ears didn't know any better.
The solid top on this guitar makes a HUGE difference and is such a drastic upgrade in sound from the cheap laminated crap I've had in the past. If you are looking for a good quality guitar for less than 500 bucks you cannot go wrong with this Gretsch Rancher!

5 Stars All The Way!

By Debra from Northwest Indiana on December 27, 2020 Music Background: Gigging Drummer and Guitar Enthusiast

I'm a late-to-intermediate beginner on guitar and have owned a few different models and brands over the years, including the Gretsch Rancher Jr. — which I absolutely regretted selling a few years ago (now out of production, I'm told, and Sweetwater no longer carries it). This full-size guitar is pretty amazing considering the price point of under $400. It is comfortable to play, the neck is bound, string action is good, and the intonation is really great out of the box. I did not pay extra for a setup and don't feel it needs one until some point in the future when I eventually have it restrung. The sound is very rich and full, and the fit and finish will easily stand up against guitars at a much higher price point in my opinion. I purchased a low-cost padded Gator bag for home use, so I'm good to go! There are only two places I trust buying a guitar from — a local music store that has been in business for years, and Sweetwater for all online instrument purchases.

Great guitar

By Fajji on October 18, 2020

The search is over! The Gretsch Rancher is a great guitar comparable to Taylor and definitely beats the HPL Martins in tone and playability. And the electronics are superb! I plugged it on my fender acoustatonic and I am ready to rock!!! I waited for more than 3 weeks for the guitar to be delivered which can't be blamed to Sweetwater because of the scarcity of good quality guitars in stock because of the pandemic. Sweetwater customer service is one of the best in the planet. My wife bought this guitar for me (as a birthday gift) and a person from Sweetwater was assigned to her updating the progress of the delivery of the guitar. Great guitar and great customer service only from Sweetwater.

Better than expected

By Caren from El Paso tx on April 20, 2020 Music Background: Novice who loves guitars

I bought this guitar because it was beautiful and Sweetwater was out of stock on the guild I wanted. I am very pleased with it. It sounds great and the action is low. I'm still going to get the Guild but this was worth the money

Best bang for your buck

The pickup sounds amazing on stage. Top list guitar... for sure. Would prefer this than any Taylor or Martin under $1000

Bittersweet Christmas

By Gary Carpenter from Texas on December 20, 2019 Music Background: last gig August 2019...first gig 1965

A great friend and Sweetwater customer gave me this guitar he purchased thru Sweetwater, as an early Christmas gift. His health issues has made it difficult to play guitar. It is a beautifully crafted instrument and plays very well for a guitar in this price range. I'll probably ship it in for the folks in the guitar shop to work their magic on it. If you haven't used their services, next guitar purchase you should. Well worth the money, your hands and ears will thank you. As always thanks to the Sweetwater Difference for the experiences past and future.

Fantastic Guitar

Haven't plugged it in yet, but I give Playability A++ love the neck. The acoustic sound could be richer but at this price point this is a fantastic guitar.

Gretsch G5024E Review

By GJohnson from Tennessee on February 13, 2019 Music Background: Acoustic guitar player for 50 years

I recently purchased the Gretsch G5024E from Sweetwater and am completely blown away ! I've owned several guitars, but this Gretsch looks, plays and sounds as good as any higher priced guitar and better than most. The sound is amazing with both highs and lows coming through just right. The neck and playability is awesome. The fit and finish on this guitar revival any guitar I've seen. A great guitar at a great price...you can't go wrong, especially at this price !

Gretsch G5024E Rancher

By Freddie from Maine on January 2, 2019 Music Background: Amateur Songwriter

I'm giving this 5 stars because it's very well made, plays great, and I'm sure that with time it will sound even better. I've played other musicians' Gretsch products, and finally decided to try out this affordable, entry level guitar. For the price it can't be beat. It looks amazing too. Sweetwater did a set up and put new strings on it.... It came packaged perfectly and was flawless out of the box. I kept tuning it the first day and it has stayed in tune ever since. I can't speak for every guitar they make but, Gretsch makes durable, great sounding products that will last and impress for years. ...if you are a beginner to intermediate guitar player, you are going to put a lot of miles on one of these. Great value, and as always with Sweetwater, fantastic service. A+

I slapped some new Elixir strings on this baby and it sounds beautiful.

The guitar sounds good as it was delivered but I just habit of installing new strings when I get a new guitar :)

Plugged in oh my gosh, so many compliments from the sound.

Best bang for your buck, competes with many higher end guitars.

Great

Bought this for my sister and I play it every chance I get. I prefer this over my Martin D16GT which was around 4 times as much in cost.

more than was expected

By Dave from Texas on August 22, 2015 Music Background: learning

the instrument has been evaluated by
1: professional musician that plays lead guitar in an active bluegrass band
2: retired rhythm guitarist
3: guitar instructor with years of experience
all are of the opinion that the guitar plays well above the price as far as tone, construction, and appearance are concerned.
I am extremely pleased with the purchase as meets my needs as a novice player. the guitar arrived well protected by packing, no hits, dents, or splinters. I feel that I made the perfect choice in selection and company for my purchase.

Amazing guitar and amazing customer service!

By Melanie Ballesteros from NC on June 10, 2015 Music Background: Playing for 32 years off and on

I hesitantly bought my guitar online, sight unseen and sound unheard. The whole process was flawless. Wishing 15 minutes of my purchase, I received a call from Sweetwater about my order; the items were I stick and would be shipping the next day. They asked if there was anything else I needed help with--these guys were super-nice! I felt so much more at ease with my decision to buy online, specifically from them. The customer service is second-to-none and the guitar...WOW!!!

Satisfied Customer

By Robert Iaccarino from Arizona on March 21, 2018 Music Background: non professional, 53 years playing

Great customer service from Mike W. Plenty of information given and all questions answered. Sweetwater picked up the ball after a competitor failed .
I bought the same guitar elsewhere; they did not have it in stock; they held my money for 8 days.
After I received my own money back; I called Sweetwater and they came through.
Great guitar, set up well, sounds really good. I am satisfied for sure.

Nice Guitar

By Dennis Vernier from Detroit, MI on February 1, 2024 Music Background: Years of performing as a professional.

I really love this guitar. The neck profile is just what I like, not chunky, relatively shallow. Love the finish, the full size headstock and fishman electronics. I can take or leave the triangular shaped soundhole but I like the fact that it's bound in white liked the rest of the guitars trim. I'm going to replace the strings with .10 to .48 and shave a little off the bridge saddle to lower the action a bit. Just that I prefer lower action. I also own a Made in Japan Gretsch Country Classic 2 electric that was around $2000 when I purchased it years ago. This Rancher acoustic really is a beautiful guitar at a terrific price. I don't think you can go wrong with Gretsch.

Easy play with plenty of volume.

By Sweetwater Customer on December 28, 2021

Very impressed with the tone and playability of this axe. Even after installing extra light gauge strings the tone is rich and full. Nice looks, too.
