Fast & Furious!

By Lawrence Marsh from Jacksonville, Fl on January 15, 2024

Love it. The short scale is more familiar to me since I'm more of a guitarist than a bass player. The action as it arrived was spot on. My colleagues all commented on how good it sounds. Thanks Sweetwater for another great find. Thanks Ray for your continued support.

Super impressed

By Cody from Seattle on January 3, 2024 Music Background: Bass, guitar, drums 25 years

My girlfriend bought this bass for herself without telling me. I'm constantly asking her to jump on my bass to jam along while I play guitar or drums but she always complains my Ibanez is too big (grow up) and I always say "whatever You'll get used to it". Anyways, I just got done playing it for 3 hours and I just had to jump on here and say wow what a beautiful little flawless instrument. I have lots of instruments and am a nerd about inspecting necks and hardware for flaws and this thing is perfect, zero buzzing frets, zero dead notes and whatever these pickups are (I haven't looked) sound great high to low through my 1 15 and 4 10's. So anyhow if you're reading this because you're wondering if this should be the one, it is, and if you're now wondering where to buy it, Sweetwater is the place, trust everyone in here that swears by them, you'll see once you by something, this is a properly run business.

Great bass for the price

By Sweetwater Customer on October 17, 2023

I got the junior jet on a whim, wanted a short scale bass. I own several guitars/basses this one's a keeper. Plays great right out of the box, stays in tune. I really enjoy how the electronics are set up like a guitar, 12" radius on neck also adds to that vibe. You really can't go wrong for $, nice bass for the price.

Perfect bass

By AA on August 31, 2023

This bass is perfect for small female with small hands. It's the perfect size, perfect weight-and it sounds amazing. Got the Bristol Fog-
beautiful finish. Excellent bass especially for the price.

EXCELLENT SHORTIE

By Charone Monday from Ohio on July 21, 2023 Music Background: Professional player and teacher (bass, guitar, violin)

I bought this bass to teach/"loan to" my younger students while they learn bass before they invest in an instrument. I think it's the best sounding and playing bass for this price point. I also loved the look. The size works great for the younger kids (though it is a little heavier than I'd like but nothing to really be concerned about). The only thing I would change is to put flat wound strings on it. If you're looking for a short scale bass this instrument will not disappoint.

Fantastic looking and playing shorty

By Thumper 60 from Pennsylvania on July 10, 2023 Music Background: 48 years steady working drummer and/or bass player for multiple bands over many years.

I bought the gorgeous Bristol Fog finish model. First of all I'll comment on the incredibly beautiful finish, fit, and craftsmanship.Top of the line, I had and seen fifteen hundred dollar basses that didn't have the beautiful finish of this "economy" bass. I also really like the unique sound of the humbuckers, too bad Moore basses didn't come with these pickups, they sound really cool. The neck and frets are also incredibly beautifully fit n finished. Also love the simple 2 knob, neck/bridge switch, also wish more basses came with this simple neck/bridge on/off/both equal switch. The only change I made after arrival is change the knobs with numbered knobs that I prefer and also like all other short scale basses they came with the usual light gauge 40-95 or 45-100 strings. They played and sounded OK but as always I changed them out for my favorite D'Addario 50-105 short scale strings. Big difference in sound and much more to my sound and play likeability. If you're looking for a top of the line short scale without spending 2 or 3 paychecks I personally in my 48 playing years of experience suggest you give this gorgeous shorty a try. Think y'all will be as happy as I am.

I have always loved Gretsch guitars

Great short scale at an even better price

By Sweetwater Customer on March 2, 2023

You won't find a better short scale bass at or near this price. The fretwork is spot on, the pickups offer a range of tones, and the scale is great for guitar players looking to adapt to the bass or for players with smaller hands. The finish is awesome and the hardware is sturdy.

Punches above its weight class!

By Cody from Louisiana on February 24, 2023 Music Background: Swamp rock

Single coils…yep. They sound good. The neck is almost perfect. It's my wife's favorite looking instrument. It IS pretty! I'm changing all the hardware to black but it's just my preference. I wish they made black pickups, or at least covers, for it. The tonal differences between the pickups is pretty stark and that's a good thing. We play tuned 1/2 flat and drop D and I was concerned with the short scale. It handles it and I can bend whole steps on the second fret! It's far better quality than the squier p/j I have as well. I should've bought it sooner. I still want the Sire U5 but I'm glad I didn't wait on it.

So… I've played this bass for three years and the only thing I changed was the strings to flatwounds. The whole pickup contravercy meant nothing to me because I loved this bass from the start. My only regret is that it wasn't offered in Bristol fog when I bought mine.

Jr. Jet II

By Toothless D from IL on January 6, 2023 Music Background: On\Off Pro

After some months of playing Jr Jet, it's the best in-between, a Bass and a Guitar. My favorite setup is attached.

Jr + EHX Pi and 50 Watt Reverb 0 Rocket.

Really cool Bass. My main is a mid '70s Jazz. This Bass opens up a new world. For the $, can't go wrong.

In reference to my last review, for some reason the star rating showed up as a 2. This is a 5 considering a great instrument and superior Customer support by Matt and Nathan

It's a great little bass for the price, but....

By Sweetwater Customer on November 25, 2022

It says it comes with 2 mini humbucker pick ups which is a bit misleading. Not only on here, everywhere I looked, including their website says it. In reality, they're 2 single coil pick ups, so it's closer to a jazz bass. Don't believe me? There's a youtuber that figured it out and has proof if anyone doesn't believe me. I still really like the bass, but if someone is expecting 2 humbuckers, that is not what you're getting.

Hard to beat this bass for the price!

By Sweetwater Customer from KY on July 5, 2022 Music Background: Professional

Awesome short scale bass! wide variety of tones can be dialed in and it sounds pretty incredible. One thing to note: This is my first short scale bass, so I learned upon receiving it that because the bridge is quite a bit further up the body than a long scale bass, picking/plucking hand positioning takes some getting used to. Instinctively, I keep wanting to play right on top of the bridge, which obviously doesn't sound great. But, I am a bigger dude...it just takes some getting used to. My main reason for purchase was for the ease of playability, as short scale bass strings have more slack and less need to stretch your fretting hand. Would definitely recommend to a younger player, who is maybe on the smaller side, or anyone looking for something different.

Great Bass Guitar

By Drew Goff from Westfield, Indiana on April 15, 2022 Music Background: Semi professional

The quality for this bass at $ is top notch. I am a experienced bass player and I bought this as a secondary bass to my long scale bass. Sweetwater has it listed as top basses under $1,000 for a reason.

This bass helped launch Royal Blood's career back in 2014. They had just a bass and drums. They used this bass guitar.

Very Nice instrument

By David from Anchorage, Alaska on October 6, 2022 Music Background: Playing guitar and Bass in cover Bands starting in 1970.

I got this Bass just a few days ago. Right out of the case it is a very nice little Bass for the price range. I am very pleasantly surprised. I really like the neck profile. Also the pickups are very equal volume across the strings. I can get a nice smooth, mellow thump which is my style of playing. All I have done to it is put a set of my favorite Ernie Ball cobalt flat wound strings on it and tweaked the intonation a tiny bit to get it right on. It's a keeper. I sold my last long scale Fender Bass recently now all I have are short scale Basses which I prefer that I have been playing since 1970 when I started out on a 1969 Guild Starfire. Highly recommended based on the one I got from Sweetwater. Thanks to my great Sales Engineer Luke Herian.

Gretsch G2220 Junior Jet Bass II Short-Scale - Bristol Fog

By Doug from Raleigh, Nc on June 14, 2022 Music Background: 40 years playing

Shipping packing was great! Arrived in perfect condition. played right out of the box and still using that way. Tone and volume knobs are very responsive, three way pick-up switch will give many different sounds. I may lower the strings at some point, but really not necessary. Happy with the purchase!!

My first bass as a beginner with small hands

By Leona from Carlsbad, CA on May 22, 2023 Music Background: 40 years as classical pianist, now in a garage band playing keyboards, bass, drums, and harmonica.

It's playable out of the box. A lot of fun and the Bristol finish is fabulous (I get a lot of compliments). The short scale is better for my hands.
Just need to get it dialed in and seasoned for the strings to soften up (I'm used to practicing on an old jazz bass with 10-year old strings).
The toggle for the pickups gives me some versatility in sound. Overall, this is a sweet deal. My bass instructor loves it.

It is what it is

By Sweetwater Customer on April 14, 2022

Perfect beginner bass. The jr size is fun to play and handle. It is a low end bass, price wise, so take it for what it is. Has decent sound and works for a small gathering especially with acoustic equipment. Seems to be well built. I am one that is described as " jack of all trades, master at none " as I play on several instruments, some better than others. The bass is something I dabble with so this guitar does the trick.

Jr Jett

By DR Dignam-AKA Toothless D from Rochelle IL on November 30, 2022 Music Background: 40+ years, about 25 pro. Bass and Guitar. Pro again after retirement

I have played a Fender Jazz(same one) for 30 years. Still my go to for paying, important gigs.

I received the Gretsch in 2 days in spite of Holiday. I was a big disappointed at first; intonation off and body cavity rattle. I always play new instruments unamplified first, give you a better feel. Electronics can cover up so much.

I did not order the set-up as I did on my SG and ASAT. 55 point check was good, but I can set up a guitar. 30 minutes later, this critter is a keeper. For $, this is a hot Bass. Suggest low gain input if you're not into over the top distortion. Totally a working instrument.

Most important comment: Matthew and Nate at Sweetwater emailed me several times to make sure all was good. Kudos to them.
