love it!

I haven't felt any need to buy any other electric guitar after getting this one 2 1/2 years ago. Everything about is so solid. Very reliable guitar. Great pickup range.

You will not find a better value for the price!

By Daniel Morrow from Lake Stevens, WA on July 6, 2022 Music Background: Have played violin for over 40 yrs, then discovered a love for electric guitar 2 years ago.

This is the easiest review I have ever written. In my opinion, you simply will not find a better value guitar. It is really that simple.

PROs: *Fit and Finish - I have not found a guitar, at even double the price, that has this kind of attention to detail during production. Immaculate finish. Even the output jack and strap buttons seem heavy-duty.
*Broadtron Humbucking Pickups - Wow, just wow. Honey smooth, very full sounding. They really should not exist. Think The Wonders mixed with The Raconteurs. Did I say full sounding?
*Tuners - Smooth, real smooth. Creepy smooth... like, "did they make a mistake and put high-end tuners on this thing" smooth. Gretsch DID NOT get the memo about putting terrible tuners on your guitars.
*Feel -This may be too much of a relative opinion and It is a bit hard to explain. Maybe it is some wizardly mix of the "Thin U" shaped neck, Med. Jumbo frets, 24.75 scale length, 12° fretboard radius, or nut width, I have no idea... but this guitar just plays a bit easier for me than all of my others (PRS, Fender). It is almost intangible sort of like using aim-assist on an FPS video game. It is almost like it helps a little bit. Maybe I am mental. They describe the neck in their marketing material as being "designed for effortless playability.

CONs: Gretsch says this guitar has a "lightweight, resonant, nato body perfect for long nights on stage" and I have seen reviews that describe it as lightweight. I agree with 2 out of 3 of those qualities. The guitar is 100% a giggable guitar and it is very resonant, but I think it is heavy-ish. This also is relative to the types of guitars you are playing. This is the heaviest guitar I own. With that said my others are a Mustang, Telecaster, and a PRS SE 24-08, so take that for what it is worth. and that is the end of the CONs list.

You will not be disappointed with this guitar. They even have a model with a P-90 soap-bar pick-up in the neck position. I would have most likely purchased that model if it was available when I purchased mine.

Couldn't be happier

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2021

I'm something of a novice and I was looking for an inexpensive guitar in case I fizzle out. I was trying to stay around $200 but I came to order this guitar after having to return an Ibanez AX120 due to physical damage and a buzzing string that came like that from the factory. Received this guitar in perfect condition and couldn't be happier. I find it easy to play (well, as easy as any guitar could be for a relative beginner) and I like the tone. I don't know if the Sweetwater techs had to make an adjustments as part of their inspection, but after the experience with the Ibanez I feel hitting the 55 point inspection price point was worth it. At the very least I knew it wouldn't have any physical damage or buzzing strings.

Nice guitar

By 60 second review from Upstate NY on May 21, 2021 Music Background: Gigging musician

The Gretsch G2210 Streamliner Junior Jet Club is a mouthful to say, but it's worth it. The guitar looks great and sounds just as good. It came in set up well. No sharp frets or dead spots. Intonation was spot on. The tuners hold tune pretty well. Pickups sound pretty good for bluesy/rock sounds. I had one little ding by the neck on mine other than that its perfect. I definitely recommend it as a first guitar or even as back up on stage.

OUTSTANDING GUITAR

By Ryan from St. Louis on March 18, 2021 Music Background: Musician

The Gretsch G2210 Streamliner is an absolutely fabulous guitar! It had that classic slab body les Paul feel to it. The craftsmanship on the body and neck is far superior than any other $... guitar I have ever played. I LOVE the gretsch pickups. They are very clear and have that unique gretsch tone to them that sets them apart from your standard entry level humbuckers.

This is a no frills work horse that would be great for around the house or on stage. The bridge/nut/machine heads are all quality construction. I love the simplified controls. The single tone knob has a wide range, and the volume know is in a SUPER handy spot. Do we really need separate tone and volume for each pickup? Considering this is roughly the same price as an affinity squire, or an entry epiphone, it is just unbeatable for it's price range. The Gunmetal finish is beautiful! pictures don't do it justice.

Again, Sweetwater was a joy to work with. They kept me informed the entire way through the process and the guitar actually arrived at my house set up and in tune!

Great First Guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on March 18, 2021 Music Background: Novice

The single-cut shape is comfortable and well-proportioned to the neck. At ~8 pounds, I have no problems sitting or standing for extended periods. The neck itself is thin and easy to play on, with no buzzing or sharp edges around the nut or frets. In fact, other than a quick tuning, all the string hardware was dialed-in right out of the box.

A special note - the appearance of the metallic finish depends heavily on lighting and angle. I recommend looking up a variety of demos and photos for a better idea.

The knobs, 3-way switch, and cable jack all work as intended. They're sturdy and easy to reach, but not in the way. And while I'm still training my ears, I think the pickups also deliver. Between these electronics and my Boss Katana, I can get enough tone variation across clean, overdriven, or distorted sounds.

Overall, this is exactly what I needed to start playing - an affordable, durable guitar that's easy to use with some tonal flexibility. I'm definitely pleased with the build quality for the price.

Lastly, a special thanks to Sweetwater and its sales rep, Sean Geyer. The whole process was on point, from choosing my specific guitar to how carefully it was inspected, packaged, and delivered.

Very well built guitar!

This guitar has a beautiful sound with very hot pickups. The gun metal finish is beautiful the metal flake really pops I have played professionally for over 50 years and this is stage worthy

Great guitar

Good quality, great tone, good wood! And This was my first Gretsch

Excellent value for this stripped-down little beast of an axe!

By Russell from Brooklyn, NY on March 24, 2022 Music Background: Playing guitar since 1966

This beauty is ready to play right out of the box. I like the action a little lower and the intonation was not perfect, so I took it for a standard setup by my NYC luthier, Evan Gluck (the best). But I think it would have been fine for most people without a setup. The only reason I gave it 4.5 instead of 5 stars is the compensated wrap-around bridge. It's solid and perfectly functional, but it doesn't have individual adjustable mechanisms for each string. Instead there's a screw at the end of the low and high E strings for adjusting intonation. I prefer to have each string be adjustable. But my luthier had no problem getting the intonation perfect, so maybe others who buy this guitar would have no problem. Anyway, the look and feel of this (gunmetal color) guitar is great, the electronics are solid and the weight is just right for me. It's my new favorite go-to practice guitar in my collection, which includes some very nice Fenders and Gibsons. Highly recommended!

Very solid, great playing guitar!

By Braden on February 17, 2023

I bought this guitar to have a simple guitar to use for alternate tunings, (my other axe is a strat with floating trem). Absolutely gorgeous guitar, the gunmetal finish l has a shimmer that has to be seen in person to fully appreciate.

Playability is great and I love the simplicity of a single cut slab body guitar. Two knobs and a three position switch is all a guitar really good. I like the tone of the broadtron in the neck but I plan on swapping pickups and doing some other minor mods to this guitar in the future, the bridge tone is a bit tinny to my ear.

The only con is that the wraparound bridge is angled forward pretty hard, and it looks as though the inserts may be pulling forward in the wood due to string tension, however I did notice that the angle of the bridge corrsponds with the neck angle so it could be very possible that this is by design and not a defect. I have no previous experience with this type of bridge. Intonation is obviously a bit hard to dial in with this type of bridge but it gets close enough for me, and that's the price you pay for simplicity.

All in all this is a fantastic axe, at a fantastic price. Suits me need perfectly.

Great guitar, but maybe not the best for high-gain

By Jon Moore from San Francisco, CA on October 23, 2021

I would definitely give this guitar 5 stars except for microphonic pickups that squeal like a poked pig at high gain settings. I don't know if it's just a defect with mine or a general issue with the G2210. I'm going to pull them and see if I can find a good pickup repair shop to wax pot them. When not squealing, they sound great. PAF-ish with a nudge toward single coil clarity/brightness. No issues with tuners. String height at nut was pretty high and needed slot filing, but for any guitar around $, I think you can expect to have to do some setup work. Frets were nicely polished and leveled with smooth edges. Nice slightly chunky neck profile. Love the bridge; very solid tone with none of that vague rattle you can get with tunamatic bridges. Finish was gorgeous and stunningly well done for a $ guitar. Overall, near perfect except for the pickup issue.
