the first gator arrived in a torn box and the case had a hole the size of a quarter. part of the plastic ribbing was also smashed. sweetwater promptly sent out another unit after i called and it was here within 2 days of notifying them.
i initially wanted a case for my marshall silver jubilee 2525...but i have a collection of 2x12 combos and 1x12 speakers in addition to amp heads. rather than get the smaller size, for not that much $ more i have this larger versatile case. the suitcase style transport so much nicer than using hand truck type conveyance. the advantages during inclement weather obvious, too.
Beam it back Scotty...
I read a few other reviews about this case so was leary to begin with, but ordered it anyway cause Gator is known for making good quality cases. As soon as I opened the box n got a look at it I knew it was a no go! Maybe if you're just a casual jammer it may work for you, but definitely not for a working musician! It has a zipper on it, which I just knew wouldn't last long. As stated in several other reviews the handle is very weak, The wheels wouldn't even roll acrossed my kitchen floor empty and as we all know, without wheels it's really useless!! I have an Orange Rockerverb50 combo 2x12. I put it in the case to see how it fit and there was about 6 inches of room on each side, they don't include any extra padding so would have to stuff it with pillows or something to keep it from flopping around. The way the case is designed you put the amp in then flip it on its side, so definitely needs the extra padding. I sent it back n went somewhere else n got a good deal on a road worthy case. They stick you with paying the shipping on return items, so save your money n pass on this one!!
