THE marshall speaker

By Rowan from Seattle, WA

They aren't super fizzy and mid-lacking like a cheap seventy 80, but they're a little more scooped and present than a greenback. It's a great balance. It's THE 4x12 speaker, in the iconic 1960a and 1960b Marshall 4x12s. There's a reason they're everywhere. Don't listen to people complaining about it on random forums, they just don't know how to mic a cab for metal.

Excellent Speaker

By Gregory S. from United States
Music Background: Semi-pro multi-instrumentalist

I purchased a pair of these Celestion G12T-75 speakers to replace the ultra crappy Celestion Seventy/80 speakers in my Marshall MX212 cabinet. Brand new out of the box they were a HUGE Improvement over the Seventy/80s. As they have been breaking in they just get better & better. Well worth the price. I have my Marshall Origin 50H running through the cab & it sounds great. I have seen plenty of hate on the interwebs for these speakers. Don't buy into that crap. If you have ever been to a concert & seen Marshalls on stage, more than likely, this is the speaker you heard. These have been the stock speaker in the Marshall higher end 4x12 & 2x12 cabs for decades & they roar!

CLASSIC CHUNKY ROCK AND METAL SPEAKER

By Rick from PA
Music Background: Decades of live & pro studio experience as a hard rock guitarist. Home project studio for about 15 years.

After buying different amps and cabinets and frequenting rehearsal studios and recording studios, I learned long ago that the Marshall 1960B is my favorite sounding speaker cabinet. I used to have 2 full Marshall stacks (two 1960A and two 1960B cabs) that I used for years but I sold those cabs years ago to start buying home recording gear. I currently have another 1960B that I have used for around 16 years.

I had to replace 2 speakers in one of the full stack cabs about 18 years back, but I was pretty hard on that specific cab for years. If you total all of that up, I have owned 22 of these Celestion 16 ohm GT-75 speakers and I just always loved "THAT SOUND"!

My guitar sounds range between Michael Schenker, modern Jeff Beck and maybe live Andy Timmons and live Joe Satriani type sounds. Just somewhere in the middle of all of that and I am running extra gain these days, but that's where I live and these speakers have been rock steady and dramatic sounding all along in my opinion.

I owned other cabs and other speakers and played through other cabs and speakers that I didn't own, but these are my must have speakers. I am considering building a cab with one of these and one Vintage 30 just to hear the blend, but the GT12-75 is a must have for me and we have all heard these on countless recordings. They have been a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades (Because they sound great!). That's my experience anyway ....

Marshall DSL40C Speaker Swap

By Ron M. from USA

After extensive research on speaker swap for my Marshall DSL40C, I chose the Celestion G12t 7516 and could not be more pleased, the speaker colors the amp nicely for my style of playing which is hard rock to metal.

Great tone from a high end speaker

By Sweetwater Customer

Let me first say I have tried Weber, Emminence, Pro Audio, JVC, vintage 30s even Carvin so I have used many speakers. Each one was good at a certain tone. I was looking for a more versatility and these G12Ts delivered. Tight and focused yet still open and thunderous with with the right amount of bass. Great for many kinds of music from classic British rock tones to jazz metal and cleans it's all here.

Great addition to gear

By Shane K.

I bought this to smooth out my 2X12 cab. It originally came with Vintage 30's which sound great, but we're a little too harsh for more newer sounding crunch/metal. Adding this one G12T-75 cut out just enough mids to make that chunky sound I was after. If you are wanting today's hard rock sounds, adding this speaker to me seems critical.
