Just what I need.

By Ivan from 07060
Music Background: My own little studio.

I Can't believe my Marshall DSL40-C change the sound drastically , now is a round mellow custom sound. I'm not a professional musician but I can hear and feel the difference.

What a difference!

By Richard from Michigan
Music Background: Older gentleman, playing for decades. Jam band, jazz and fusion.

Purchased a Marshall DSL40 combo 10 or 12 years ago. Even new, was non-plussed with its sound. Generally used my Vox or Fender amps till now. Changing the speaker from the stock Celestion Seventy 80 to the G12H-75 Creamback made it sound like a real Marshall! Huge difference. This new "Marshall" is now the only amp I use. Great sounds when run quietly, and a real screamer when pushed. I can use it in a small venue or larger clubs.

Great sounding speaker.

Helps to smooth out some of the highs from a single coil pickup.

Exactly what I was after

By Isaiah from Martinsville, IN

After awhile of watching reviews and demos I decided to experiment with different speakers in my 6505 4x12 cab. I settled on a pair of the 75w creambacks to replace the upper two sheffields. It rolled off the harshness and eliminated the fizz, yet still seems equally detailed or possibly a bit more. The only problem is now I want to replace the other 2 remaining speakers in the cab.

They have a very nice vocal quality, and a soft yet detailed presence that remains well defined under high gain. I think the name is very fitting.

Sounds great..

By Mr K.
Music Background: Gigging musician

I bought this as a direct replacement for one the had "blown" in a Victory Duchess Deluxe combo. Why it failed I have no clue. I think there was a short in the voice coil. I never pushed the amp and it was only like 1 year old. Never in 50 years did I have a speaker fail. Must have been a flaw. Hopefully this one will last longer. Great tight balanced tone. "Let It Rock"!

Excellent!

By Sweetwater Customer

This speaker is truly as good as they say.
Extended range, smooth high end, and nice smooth midrange.
Very clear definition even with any amount of gain. Of course that beautiful midrange crunch .
Highly recommended.
Better bang for the buck upgrade for the price of a pedal!

Great Speakers

By DENNIS B. from ALBION, NY

The power, clarity and smoothness of these speakers are just what I needed. I had an old Peavey cab with some pretty harsh Ice-Picky speakers in it. I took them out and paired the Creams with MIdnight 60's. This is a terrific combination and very pleasing to the ears. I am glad I made this purchase.

Creamy, brilliant sound !!!

By Thomas R. from Illinois
Music Background: Not a professional !!!!

Bought a pair of these to put in a Marshall SV212 cabinet. I felt the original V-type speakers were a bit thin and after extensive research, reviews, sound demonstrations and advice, I chose the creambacks.

I liked what I call the butter, creamy yet gritty sound. With two creambacks in the cabinet it seemed to be a bit much, almost to gritty and hard to clean up, as much as a Marshall and Gibson Les Paul could anyway. I then put an original Celestian V-30 in the top and the creamback stayed in the bottom.

Perfect, at least for me as we all know sound is subjective. I get the creamy, buttery grit sound along with the ability to clean up (again, not crystal clear and not what I was after). I find the speaker combination coupled with the volume control on the Les Paul provides an incredible sound and easy to control.

Great sound combination for 70's classic rock, 80's rock (not necessarily hi gain) and modern blues. With a reverb or delay pedal, think .38 special, Rush.
A fuzz or OD will get you close to Zepplin or Black Sabbath. Using the knobs on the Les Paul will get AC/DC or ZZ Top. Brilliant sound combination, I only wish I had a 4x12……..

Amazing Speaker! LOVE it!

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Band member and 30 year practicing musician

I absolutely love this speaker! If I was to compare this speaker I would say it is like a Celestion Redback that someone took the blanket off of it. It is not as dark sounding. It is clear with a tight response. It does not have a lot of feedback at high volumes especially when playing metal. I prefer the 16 Ohm over the 8 Ohm because it is a little bit brighter. In the past I have owned Celestion: Vintage 30s, 70/80s, 100Watts, and Redbacks and this one is the best. Very clear and articulate sounding speaker.

Great Speaker

By Sweetwater Customer

I threw this speaker in my Bad Cat 1x12 cab. To my surprise I preferred it to the stock Bad Cat speaker with my Cub. It's just sweeter sounding with more detailed highs and upper mids. It has more chime and sweeter highs but not in a harsh way. It doesn't flub out nearly as easy when driving the amp with pedals and adds more clarity to my effects. I can definitely recommend this speaker with Vox style amps.

Wonderful upgrade.

By Roger C.
Music Background: Dabbles in everything.

First off, thank you Cassie @ sweetwater for being an awesome sales engineer. I was looking for a replacement speaker to go in my marshall origin 2x12 cab. The 70/80s that came stock are good, I just wanted better. Something warm, full, and British leaning. Cassie told me the G12H creamback would be what I'm looking for, and she was right! It just sounds wonderful and seems to sound better every time I play through the cab.
Cheers!

The stock Celestion V-type lacked that classic Marshall tone. The Celestion G12H-75 Creamback gave me exactly what I was looking for. Huge improvement!

Perfect for a Vox

By CL

Replaced the stock Celestion with this beautiful speaker. Sure, there are a variety of great speakers out there, but this is a special one! Brings out the character of VOX AC30 S1 and takes my sonic joy to another level.
Great for clean, fantastic for gain. Excellent as a 1x12

Versatile Speaker

By Andy from Minnesota
Music Background: Hank Williams Sr. through Metallica

I have a Dr. Z Z Best 2x12 cab and recently got Mesa Boogie TC 100 amp. The amp was too powerful for the G12H30 Anniversary speaker that was paired with the Vintage 30. I kept the V30 and replaced the G12H30 with the G12H75 Creamback. I noticed right away the darker overall tone. I played quite a bit over the next week to get it broken in and the re-EQ'ed my amp to get the brightness back. The clean channel which was really, really nice has lost some of its magic. It's very close in tone to how it was before, but now if you dig into the B and high E strings they cut very hard. I'm going to have to adjust my pick attack for certain riffs. The crunch and high gain channels, however, are wonderful! I got the brighter tone I love, but with the bassier overall sound, it's very full and we'll rounded. I use both active and passive pickups and both sound equally as good as the other.

Excellent Speaker

By Andrew W. from Salisbury, MD

I got this to replace the Celestion Greenback in my Vox AC15C1. I found the greenback to be a little too harsh and I felt that it broke up too easily for what I was looking for. This speaker completely fixed that issue. It produces a tight, rich, sweet tone that cuts down on the harsh high mids I got from the greenback while still producing plenty of the chime I want from the AC15. I also found that I can drive the amp a little harder and get a fuller tone while maintaining excellent clarity. Overall an excellent speaker!

Metal Cream

By Brennen from Anchorage Alaska
Music Background: Weekend Warrior

I have on of these in a 2x12 paired with a Redback. This combo is huge, and both speakers compliment themselves immensely. The cream has plenty of highs and mids with a good low end. These are nice highs and mids though compared IMO to Vintage 30s which are just abrasive to my ears. When I upgrade to a 4x12 I will be adding another Cream and Redback in an X pattern. I play metal in Drop G# with a Bari through a PRS MT15 and love the tones I get! Bassy tight palm mutes are no problem here, the speaker honestly just sounds "smoother" than a V30 to me.

Celestion G12H-75

By gtrsuite from MA

This is a great speaker. I paired it with V30s in my 4x12 and a 2x12 cab. It blends well with the V30, this speaker did give me beefier, thicker highs when cranking out lead tones. It did for me what the V30 did for me when I bought those so many years ago-fullfill that "sound" in my head. That upper mid-punch we all know and love.
I was going to wait to review these until I recorded with them (which I will do in the future) but I can say, even though I have only heard them "live in studio" mixed inside my cabs with the V30s, there was a noticeable difference, not better than a V30, just a little different sound. In a word, the sound is beefier I would say.

I Gotta Get Two More!!!!

By Vince P. from Tucson, AZ

First off, I disagree with some of the reviews I've read about how mixing these with V30s sounds great. I have two Creamback 75s in one cab, and a Vintage 30 & Veteran 30 (WGS's version of the Vintage 30) in another. The Creamback 75s push a lot of highs. Not nasty spiky highs, but pleasant and cutting highs. You can sit right in front of them and not be offended. When I EQ my amp, a Schecter Hellwin, to fit the Creambacks, then switch to the V30 cab, the highs are gone and it needs to be re-EQd or it sounds like mush. When I EQ my amp to fit the V30 cab, then switch over to the Creamback 75 cab, the highs are overwhelming. I use two identical cabs, so I highly doubt it's due to the cabs themselves. The V30s are well broken in of course, but I've played the Creambacks with a 7 string, nothing but brutalz to break them in, for 9 to 10 hours now, so they are fairly well broken in. To make a long story short (too late), I love the Creamback cab far more than the V30 cab when both are dialed in for their optimal sounds. After playing through the creambacks, the V30s just won't do. Now I have to buy two more Creamback 75s...thanks a lot Celestion.

Great speaker!

By erik s. from adrian, MI

I play a Bogner Ecstacy 20th Anniversary EL34 through a Marshall JCM900 cab. I had 2 Vintage 30's and 2 G12T-75's. The sound always was a little thin and lacking warmth and low end. I replaced the 2 G12T-75's with 2 Creambacks an what a difference! These speakers paired with 2 Vintage 30's is a very full sound. All the low end and warmth I was hoping for! Micing 1 V30 and 1 G12H-75 panned hard left and right sounds amazing! Highly recommended!

Just buy this speaker. You know you want to. It's just as good as a V30 and it matches most amps better than a v30. It's as if the greenback and v30 had a baby and WHAM! You have the Creamback

More watts-same great tone!

By Daniel from So Cal

I'm using a PRS HX/DA 30watt. I was using a 30watt g12h-30 anniversary in an egnater tweaker cab, sounds great. I wanted to up the wattage but keep a similar tone to my anniversary speaker. Did a lot of research online, the best you can anyway without playing the speakers in person in your own cab.
Since the anniversary is an H magnet and the 75 is also an H I went on a limb.
I think I made the right choice. Took a day or two to get use to the new sound, but required very little knob adjustment on the amp. The low end is a lot tighter, better than the anniversary. Everything just holds up beautifully. Paul, strats, you name it works great. It really shines for lead guitar work as well.
Think the lead tone of a vintage 30 but without the fizzy top and the warmth of an Anniversary.
Great solution for the player who needs more wattage but doesn't want to buy a 2x12 or a 4x12.

open sound!

By wb from San Diego,CA U.S.A

I installed these on my Marshall DSL 40C 1x12,and it definetly had a bigger sound and feel to it, as well as a much spongy feel to the solo notes and chords. By the way this is my conclusion after a live band gig and at loud band volume levels, and 90% bridge humbucker position on alder body maple neck.

The creamback that it came with is good, but not my style. If you wanna open up your amp sound a bit more and have a better dynamics, then get these its worthed

Great H magnet tone

By AJW from md

I replaced 4 heritage g12h30 with these. The hardwired cabinet came to life, and the missing chunk was there in spades. The highs were more pleasing to the ear as well. Very happy with them, and my home built 45/100 is too.

So Creamy!

By William from Texas
Music Background: Non professional guitar player

I have a Marshall DSL 40c that i really liked but hated the speaker especially when using the lead channel so i went looking for a replacement speaker and got this one. This one is different to the model that sweetwater sells with their dsl 40c combo but i really enjoy this speaker and it's not even broken in yet. The bass is endless, the mids and so full and the treble is very adjustable to your liking. I'm so impressed with this speaker and how nice my amp sounds now i would swear it way a jvm or something.

A Great Match w/ My Amp!

By Xylor from Sacramento
Music Background: 30 years experience in guitar and recording

12 months of research trying to determine whether I needed a new amp head OR just new speakers. My problem is my amp head is naturally dark sounding and generally too rounded in the highs, always resulting in too much mids and not enough highs. The bottom lows are somewhat too loose for my taste. So with this being the issue, pairing it with my V30s only pushes the mids and mid-trebles even harder. I didn't really want to buy a new amp so I decided to give these G12H-75 CBs a try. I have to admit, I've found some conflicting reviews and got pretty uncertain whether these bad boys would serve me justice. Mind you, I've never owned a dark sounding amp, so moving from my old Marshall TSL and other bright amps is not easy. When these CBs arrived, I crossed my fingers and hoped for the best. The minute these speakers replaced my V30s, OMG, my amp suddenly came to live. The loose lows got tight, the annoying mids was gone and the highs got clearer with an apparent brightness and spark - sounding as if a blanket was finally uncovered. Now I can finally set my mid knob to noon with more flexibility to control my amp's mids. When my V30s were used, mind you, I had to set my presence at max and my treble at 2 o'clock to get an acceptable level of highs. Now I run my treble at 11 o'clock and my presence at 2 o'clock. Yes, these CBs did it!! Solved my problem. IMO, it is a good match for darker sounding amps, especially if your amp naturally has alot of mids you want to tame and if it lacks the highs you want to hear more of. Have no regrets. Worth every dime. My conclusion, these CB 75s are definitely alot brighter than my V30s. Now, I have a good reason to keep my amp.

Raving Fan

By Joe B. from Santa Cruz, CA
Music Background: Long time rock and roller

I'm very impressed. Been using G12H anniversary's, V30's, and I even have a 60's marshall 4x12 with 30 watters. Also a big fan of the alnicos. But this new 75 watt Creamback is REALLY GOOD. Some guy did a nice youtube comparison of this to the M and others. That video helped me to pull the trigger. When I received mine, I loaded it up in a closed back cab that I had a V30 in. I was immediately impressed. Celestion really hit a grand slam with this one. I'm using this in combination with the Alnico Cream. It sounds awesome.
