Man, listen....I have spent probably THOUSANDS on plugins, many of which claim to have "analog" sound. None of those making those claims seem to give you "that feeling". For those that have spent years trying to chase that feeling that million dollar productions give you, the one that you just cant quite seem to create with the loads and loads of compression, eq, and mixing techniques. That subtle but sooo not subtle feeling of silk, excitement, and complex finish that the pro tracks always seem to have...THIS IS THE ANSWER. I purchased Fusion Drive, Transformer and Stereo Image and when I placed them on a previously mixed track (one of my best mixes) to see what exactly the outcome would be, I was absolutely speechless.
I am still speechless. Being the pessimist I am, I still was like, "ok...sounds incredible on my studio monitors...lets go do a car check"...WOW!!! WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW...big part of me is still in disbelief how a plugin can create this kind of sound. Dropped the same three plugins on a track that I have been struggling to get the mix right and just...HJLKHFKHWDHFKALKDSFHLHLDSKAJ it did it again!!
Every sound becomes complex, sophisticated, and exciting to listen to. Hard to explain to non audiophiles, but obviously that does not apply to the reader. Everything just feels so dang good to listen to. If you want proof of the magic, just slap your favorite oscilloscope on after "vintage drive" and do a couple of bypass tests...The introduction of harmonics is extremely apparent. This is not a corny, wishy washy claim to greatness by SSL. This is the rea deal folks. The price is pretty steep, but I have spent the same amount plugins that delivered a small fraction of what these plugins deliver. I would have saved so much money if I knew about SSL's fusion line plugins sooner.
I have NEVR left a review for plugins before..ever. But I am geeking out so hard on these plugins I just cant contain myself. Don't take my word for it. Get yourself a 14 day trial of these plugins from SSL's website. I'll bet my last frikin dollar that after a 30 minute demo, you will be reaching for your wallet. Do it!!! Tell the kids its going to be ramen and PBJ's for the next month if you have to!
Excellent Imager!
I have always been skeptical of stereo imagers every since using a stereo widener from another popular plugin company that's been around since day one. But, when I went to renew my Slate Sub, surprise, surprise it came with a whole bunch of SSL plugins.
I've now done about a dozen client mixes with this plugin sitting on the master bus (along with my other mix bus processors), mixing into. While mixing, I wasn't really noticing it--which is good. I head no weird artifacts, and nothing phase going on. It was only when I bypassed it did I notice the stereo image narrow. So I checked in mono on my ancient passive Auratone speaker. No issues. Everything sounded good.
Out of all the fusion plugins, I think this one is the best. When it's on sale again, I'll end up buying it since I really don't want to sub anymore - I took off the half star because while this is a great sounding plugin, I think it's about double the cost of what it should be.
SSL fusion stereo image
After an hour setting "ILOK" and "SSL manager", I finally completed all the arduous tasks required it didn't even work.
I run Cubase pro 12, Windows 11 pro, 1tb hrdrv,24gb ram, I7, 64bit.....
It's coming up as a 32 bit unsupported vst.
It said clearly when I bought it it was 64 bit.
I've downloaded waves plugins no problem, even the first time was fast and easy. 20 minutes and I was up and going.
