Do NOT buy for bass traps - run don’t walk

By Ethan from Knoxville, TN

I followed the instructions on the product to a t, but the bass traps keep falling down. The worst part about it is that the small parts that were actually secure to the wall will stay and your bass traps will be damaged/ripped when they fall. This is with a pretty decent coating too (pictured). This is a very expensive spray adhesive and would expect better results. If you get this product for bass traps, do not place them above anything fragile.

An effective adhesive with some drawbacks

By Dana M. from Weehawken, NJ
Music Background: computer-based music production consultant

This got the job done, with plenty of sticking power, but was unpleasant and frustrating to use. The nozzle kept coming off the spray can (almost every time I used it),and half of the times I replaced it, it produced only a very thin stream of adhesive. It also produced extremely unpleasant fumes, and even with lots of ventilation (leaving the door open during winter weather), my eyes and lungs felt quite uncomfortable for an hour or two afterwards. Not an experience I would want to go through again, and, at this price point, I think the workmanship on the spray mechanism could have been much better!

Way better than Tubetak

By BrianG from South Weber, UT

I have used both the Auralex Tubetak and this stuff along with some other brands of spray adhesive. This Foamtak is heads above the rest. While Tubetak does a good job as well, Foamtak is MUCH easier to work with and seems to have a better hold if applied correctly. Foamtak also does much less damage to drywall if you have to remove the Studiofoam from the wall. I'm sold...going forward, I will always use Foamtak for all my acoustic projects.

Doesn't work and ruins your walls

By Robert H. from Highland Park, IL

I bought this to hang the corner mounted bass baffles and it did not work. All four fell down after a few minutes. I resprayed and they fell again. Eventually, I went with command strips, which worked much better. Now I'm moving out of my house and this stuff has ruined the walls. It won't come off with any sort of adhesive remover. I had to have a crew come in, treat with paint thinner, then scrape off and patch with new plaster. It's a nightmare and I would never use it again. I'll stick to the cheap command strips that come off easily.

this thing does not work for me

By Bipul T. from San Jose, CA

I use this adhesive to stick the Auralex foams on my home theater wall painted matte black. The adhesive just DOE NOT work. Re-sticking the foams back onto the wall with this spray adhesive is my regular activity - wish I was paid for this!

The best foam spray

By Dave B. from Colorado
Music Background: Home/Hobby

This is the only spray to use on foam. I tried 3M 777 spray and was so proud of how well I had everything so tight and perfect only to come home one hot day and it was all on the floor. (It stuck well for weeks) I then used Foam Tak and It will be up for ever. I might have used more than I needed because of the last experience. I sprayed all edges and most of the middle of each piece. It covered 48 pieces of 12X12 with ease. Buy once and install it once.

Does what it says except...

By Shannon B. from Texas

Product works great but the area of square footage you can cover per can is less than that stated on the can. You probably could stretch it to get close to that but you would have a weak temporary bond. For a more perminant bond, buy double what your expecting to use on foamtak. Overall the product is great but wished I would have bought another can so I would have been able to finish out my wall not just half. Just order another can so I'll be able to finish next week.

Better than the stuff at the hardware store!

By Duane from Ohio
Music Background: Audio Engineer in training

If your hanging your Acoustic Foam, this is what you need. Don't use that junk from the hardware store. It will eat your foam! Just be aware that when you use this stuff that your foam isn't coming back off very easy or without damaging your foam or wall! I recommend that if you are doing a semi permanent or temporary installation, spray only the corners of your foam with a one inch diameter circle.

This way it will be much easier to remove the foam without damaging it but it will still have enough adhesive to stay put. As for your paint and wall, well that's a different story! I was glad to see that this stuff isn't very messy when compared to other products and the spray pattern is adjustable, which is something you don't really value until you need it!

It's a bit more expensive than some other products that you can get locally but it works very well, and most importantly it won't damage your expensive acoustic foam.

Good stuff!

Best way to hang foam

By Michael from Austin, TX
Music Background: Recording Engineer / Performer / Music Educator

I was a little aprehensive to buy this product at first due to price and if it would damage the foam. To my delight I've used this on 2 going on 3 studios and it works great. Believe it or not it is easy to remove the foam after using this spray and it doesn't damage it at all. Doesn't leave foam chunks on the wall either. It does also hold strongest when you spray both the wall and the foam (wait 30 seconds) then apply (just like can says). I'd bight the bullet and grab this product, it is made for this stuff.

Works Good

By Matthew from Amherst, MA
Music Background: Music Producer

Doesn't smell to bad, just crack a window. I ordered two cans, but managed to get all my auralex up + 4 bass traps. So one can is probably plenty for the 24 pack auralex and 4 bass traps.

Everything went up easily less than 30 minutes, studio is looking good!

Very effective, pleasantly surprised

By Will L. from MI USA
Music Background: Musician, Live Engineer, Recording Engineer

The adhesive works great, I was expecting a much stinkier, messier application process. I am very satisfied with the amount of coverage so far, and as far as I can tell the amount I've used so far is negligible.

Use and clean up was very simple, I found with attention and forethought there was no spill over or residue to clean after application.

I've read that if applied lightly enough, it will allow for painless removal, but I was not able to find that specific amount of adhesive yet. It very firmly attached my Auralex tiles, and preliminary examination indicates it will take some coaxing to remove tiles without damage.
