JHS Flight Delay Pedal - Blue Reviews

Delay Guitar Pedal with 3 Voices, EQ, Chorus, Vibrato, Trails Mode, Tap Tempo, and Expression Jack - Blue

The JHS Flight Delay soars between two echo box extremes, expertly landing on the middle ground between a straightforward old-school stompbox and the modern era’s massive multi-effect workstations. Flight Delay lifts off with three essential echo flavors inspired by Josh’s favorite delay pedals: Delay, Reverse, and Analog. This trio of tones covers all your standard digital, analog, and more experimental delay bases, with a dedicated tap tempo footswitch and a subdivision toggle to effortlessly rig up the proper rhythm. Furthermore, the Flight Delay also boasts a robust modulation section that imbues your repeats with either a swaying chorus or warbling vibrato. You also get a powerful EQ knob to sculpt your delay’s sound from dark to crisp, the ability to activate trails bypass mode, and an expression jack to take hands-free control over your delay time. Comprehensive in terms of tone and straightforward in function, the JHS Flight Delay is, in Josh Scott’s own words, “everything you need in a delay and nothing you don’t.”

Perfect Amount Of Features

By Liam C. from Stamford, CT

This pedal packs just enough in to be incredibly versatile, but crucially knows exactly when to stop to prevent from getting overwhelming or intimidating. The standard delay controls (Mix/Blend, Time/Delay, Repeats/Feedback) are all here, plus your typical tap-tempo with subdivision selections (quarter note, eighth note, dotted-eighth note) for rhythmic repeats. Digital mode is super crisp and clear, analog mode is nice and warm and lush, and reverse mode is cool if you want to get your psychedelia on. The active tilt EQ is killer for adding extra clarity to the analog mode repeats before they degrade, or getting more warmth from the digital mode repeats that won't degrade. The modulation modes taught me that I like modulated delay! No dedicated tape mode, but you can absolutely make one by incorporating the EQ and modulation features. One extra little tip is that with some knob adjustment (turn the time basically all the way down) you can turn it into a pseudo-modulation pedal, kinda a faux-chorus or even faux-rotary. Haven't put this thing down since I got it.

I wish it had a triplet setting, but it still sounds great.

I love this pedal. I've owned lots of delays and this one really stands out. It has everything you need, and nothing you don't. I was very surprised at the sound quality it has. It's magical. The EQ and Modulation make it so versatile when dialing in great sounds. I'm inspired every time I use it. It will be on my pedalboard for many years to come. Get one!

stop looking there is no perfect delay you have in your head. Like me you don't want to bend down and find your sound you just want to step on the pedal and go.. at least me anyway. This is the best all around delay without menu diving period. Kudos JHS for delivering the delay pedal

All Killer, No Filler

By Blake from Minnesota
Music Background: Bedroom rocker

The title says it all, this is everything a delay should be. You get 3 different delay algorithms: digital, analog, and reverse. You get 2 flavors of modulation - chorus and vibrato - with rate and depth controls. You get tap tempo, you get a subdivision switch: quarter, eighth, and dotted-eighths. And it comes in two colors (but the blue and yellow is nicer, in my opinion).
The pedal has the usual delay controls: Time (time between repeats), Mix (wet/dry blend), and Repeats (how long the repeats last). But it also has an EQ control; Analog mode just a little too dark? Brighten it up! You don't want your signal to degrade like analog, but you want the darkness of Analog mode? Use Digital and turn the EQ down. Having two modulation modes with rate and depth controls (or the option to remove the modulation) adds a lot of flavor to your delays, and the reverse mode is a fun addition.
On top of all that, you can attach an external tap tempo or an expression pedal to ramp the Time control for those weird spacey delay washes.
With all that, why would you ever need another delay pedal?

Best delay pedal I own

By Sweetwater Customer

Very versatile with a tremendous amount of adjustment. The modulation section makes this pedal a step above the rest. It just allows you to take your tone to a different level. The tap tempo is great, but I would like to be able to turn the light off. It blinks the entire time the pedal is on. Tape fixed the problem.

Great all-around delay, with extra features

By Nick from CA

The JHS Flight Delay has replaced two pedals (analog and digital delays). I'm using the Flight to add dimension to my solo guitar playing and for slapback sounds. If I get a little tired of a sound, it takes just a few adjustments to find another great setting.

The Digital mode on the JHS is less metallic than a typical digital delay, with a softer attack. It's almost like a clear and articulate analog delay.

The Analog mode is what I expect an analog delay to sound like - repeats blend in to each other and there's a natural attack and decay. It can generate sounds suited for rockabilly to faux reverb.

Tap tempo makes it easy to dial in your repeat time, and the modulation gives you another parameter to fine tune the sound. Don't forget the EQ and expression jack either.

Any setting on this pedal sounds musical. More than that, JHS has packed essential controls as well as extra tweaks that will keep you interested. Excellent product.
