Fantastic Distortion pedal
I am blown away by this pedal! I've been playing electric guitar for almost 45 years and this pedal is one of the best I have ever owned. It's simple and straight forward to use and has a switch in the middle of the pedal that gives you 3 distinct tones. Raw, Fat, and Scoop. Raw tone is the same a dialing in a lot of Mid's. Fat tone is a classic distortion from the 1980's and Scoop tone sounds exactly like when you decrease your Mid knob down to around 4 or 3 and has a great metal sound to it.
I've owned a lot of distortion pedals that have cost upwards of 3 times more than these pedal costs and they haven't sounded as good. Don't be fooled by the price because this is a gem. It has solid construction, and the knobs are easy to read and use.
In many cases you get what you pay for, but TC electronic has done a great job of putting out great affordable pedals. I have 4 of their pedals and I love all of them!
MONSTER TONE
Do not be fooled by the incredible price. Too many low priced distortion pedals sound like bees in a can. I tend to avoid low priced distortion pedals out of past experience. This pedal shattered that myth for me. The lack of a middle tone knob is covered with a 3 way switch that pushes or scoops mids accordingly. It covers a lot of styles from 80s metal to modern metal and prog. If mine died I would immediately buy another even if the price tripled. Think of all the pedals you paid way more for that didn't work for you. That is why you're looking at yet another online pedal review. This replaced my MXR 5150 distortion pedal on my rig and I never thought that was possible. It doesn't have all the options but for me the distortion tones are better to my ears. Rock on and get this pedal. For the price you would be hard pressed to find an equal.
LOVE IT

Fangs pedal
Awesome pedal!! Clean pedal, no background noise. Great distortion!! For the money, best distortion pedal I've ever used. I use it on front side of other distortion pedals. Thanks to Brad Irving! Great help!
No words.... beyond impressed!!!!
So I have been wanting one of these for a while now. Shipment stuck in the ocean for well over a month as it was originally on backorder. But then it came in and I plugged into it, and I dont know of too many distortion pedal I have personally tried that truly compared to this experience.... ESPECIALLY for the money!!!! 45 bucks? C'mon man! Thats a steal! I started with the gain at 0. Moved it up 2 notches.... even with the gain at 2/10, the harmonics and response to pick attack was INSANE!!!! And the further I went up in gain madness, the bigger the smile on my face became! Every tone I've thrown together on this thing has been usable,no matter where I've set the controls and eq. Its an all around hard yes for me, and I'd give it 6 stars if I could, but 5 is the highest option. If you are on the fence, get off your high horse and get one ASAP! If you like metal and you like gain, you won't be sorry!
Big Bang for the Buck
I received the Fangs about a week ago and I'm definitely a happy camper. I've tested it in front of my little Peavey Vypyr 15 watt practice amp, in the thru/return of my Boss SY-300 guitar synth and in front of my Line 6 Spider IV 75 amp. It sounds great through all 3 rigs but, not surprisingly, sounds the best through the Line 6 amp. I dig all 3 modes on the pedal though the middle position is probably my favorite. Overall, it's mean, nasty, has plenty of gain and no more noise than any of my other high-gain pedals.
I no longer gig out but it has an all metal chassis and the knobs and switches seem solid, so I would guess it's road-worthy. I'd say that the note separation on more complex chords (like a 13th chord) is probably as good as most high-gain pedals - I'd give it a 5 out of 10 in that regard. It cleans up pretty decently - definitely better than some metal pedals I've tried, so I'd give that a 7 out of 10. For the money, this pedal is an absolute no-brainer if you want to add a high-gain pedal to your sound or just want another flavor of Metal.
WOW!!
It's like this: Do you like gain, do you like versatility in a pedal, do you have $? Then what are you waiting for!!
If your eyes were shut
Seriously, the Pepsi challenge on this would surprise novice and pros. I love this in front of any amp with any of my guitars.
Good stuff
I've never really used a distortion pedal with my bass before. I felt the notion to improvise came a lot more easy with the variations of tone I achieved. And I spent more time just messing around than with some other effects pedals I've been auditioning as of late. This thing is built quite solidly too.
