Very nice tone and quality! Easy set up. Worth buying.Sounds very natural plugged in as well. Really can't go wrong with this guitar.

I've ordered from Sweetwater many times and it's always been a good experience this time was no different. In my 50 years of playing collecting and repairing guitars I've only owned one Yamaha and it was a 60s red label which I repaired and sold. After reading about the new Yamaha guitars I decided to try there FSX series, I ordered it based on reviews I've read. It's a very comfortable folk size with a good low end sound very balanced for a guitar this size. The neck is slim 1 5/8" and fast with an excellent finish. The overall fit and finish is very good it a quality instrument right out of the box. I deducted 1/2 star for the Urea nut and saddle a guitar of this quality should have a bone or tusk nut and saddle and think it a mistake for Yamaha to skimp on suck an important detail. The other 1/2 star I deducted for the electronics. The built in tuner should have a bypass so you can tune on stage without touching your volume setting and it doesn't also I find the output at roughly 1/2 the volume of my Fishman Presys which I have on a much less expensive guitar and lastly the preamp uses 2 AA batteries instead of the standard 9 volt. I'm not sure how this will work out but now I'm carrying two types of batteries to a gig instead of just one 9 Volt. The last negative is subjective with the action being a bit high for my liking and will need a set up which I'll do when I replace the nut and saddle with bone. Overall it's a very nice instrument lots of fun to play fantastic sound for its size and well worth the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a smaller profile guitar with a slim neck. Yamaha makes a good quality guitar at a very good price point. And as always Sweetwater is a great company to do business with.
