Beautiful guitar with impeccable design inside & out. With the push of a button you're amplified anywhere anytime.

By Dennis Boyd from FREDERICKSBURG, VA on March 15, 2024 Music Background: multi instrumentalist, many years

This is innovation & craftsmanship at its finest. All the video reviews of this guitar are full of praise. Many from well known great guitarist around the world from all music genres. I'll just say you owe it to yourself to spend a few moments with this guitar. This guitar has awesome tone from anywhere on the fretboard. Strumming fingerpicking its all good without the electronics on. But, I will never grow tired of seeing peoples reactions after you press that little button sitting around the campfire. Then all that reverb & chorus comes blasting out of the sound hole of this smaller guitar. Thanks again Ryan & Sweetwater for the great care & service you provide both before and after the sale.

Yamaha never disappoints

By Bob Perrone from Allentown, PA on January 5, 2024 Music Background: Professional finger style acoustic player for 60 years

I always thought the TSA line was a gimmick. I stand corrected. First,as typical with Yamaha guitars, they are a great value and offer outstanding build quality for the price point. I'm still performing with my 1970's FG 12 string! That's over 50 years old!
This instrument sings, great articulation and overall tone.
The reverb and/or chorus add a beautiful effect, it appears to not only come from the sound hole but also around you! Adds wonderful ambiance to practice and composing sessions and is a real eye opener for your audience if you are playing without amplification. Speaking of which, when amplified the pickup is natural sounding and the effects sound beautiful.
Even without the Trans Acoustic effects, the guitar is a keeper. The solid top is very responsive.

It's better than I thought!

I recently purchased a Yamamha FS-TA Trans-Acoustic Electric Guitar. It was good for the price and a joy to play. This guitar has exceeded my expectations! It has built in effects to include reverb and chorus that enhance the sound of the guitar. I took it to a gig last night and it sounded and played just great! Kurt, you did it again!

Fun that is worth the weight!

By Wayne Hollon from GOODYEAR, AZ on March 15, 2023 Music Background: 30 years playing and singing

My new FSTA weighs about 8 ounces more than a couple of 000-28s I have that cost 2 to 4 times as much and does not quite measure up to them sound quality wise...until that magic button is depressed. Having reverb and chorus available when you just want to pick up a guitar and play sitting on the couch or in your favorite chair without having to plug in and adjust effects and mics is pretty special/inspiring. Is it a gimmick?...Maybe so, but it is a gimmick that will make you want to play and sing more and better (maybe not great... but definitely better). You will have to remember to turn the effects off when you stop playing to conserve batteries and change batteries more often but the 2 AAs take about 30 seconds to change. This guitar came with a great setup (only had to tweek the truss rod a bit) and the service from Sweetwater and my sales engineer was great, as usual! So much fun!!!

TransAcoustic - Not Just A Gimmick

By Dan P. from Grove City, OH on October 24, 2019 Music Background: Intermediate Hobbiest

I've always been impressed with Yamaha's ability to produce excellent instruments at an affordable price as well as their technical innovations. Having owned their guitars and keyboards (well, motorcycles too!), I can attest to their quality control and overall excellence.
A couple of years ago, getting back into guitar playing after a decades-long absence, I purchased their FG830 model acoustic from Sweetwater and was blown away by its tone, playability, construction and looks, to say nothing of its affordable price. It's a big dreadnought-sized boomer. My brother-in-law, an accomplished guitar player of over 40 years and owner of two Martins and two Taylors, deemed it an amazing guitar and he plays it every time he visits, always commenting on how impressed by it he is.
I recently got the urge to add another acoustic to my growing little collection. I pored over Sweetwater's web site, setting different parameters for wood, price, size (I wanted a slightly smaller guitar) and I kept coming back to a guitar I'd heard played at Sweetwater over a year ago: the FS-TA.
The TransAcoustic technology is amazing ... unobtrusive, powered by two AA batteries, allowing both reverb and/or chorus to be added with the push of a button.
I was impressed with the sound but didn't want a "gimmick". I wanted a good guitar that nonetheless could be augmented by the TA feature.
And that's what I got.
Of course, Sweetwater's legendary service was amazing as usual. I ordered it on a Friday afternoon and had it in my hands on Saturday afternoon. The mahogany is gorgeous as is the sunburst spruce top. Fit and finish are virtually flawless.
The action was literally perfect (frankly, a surprise, as a lot of Yamaha's feature high actions out of the box). After tuning it, I played a few favorites, not yet engaging the TA feature, just to make sure the sound and tone was what I wanted. It's simply excellent.
And then I pushed the magic button and heard the reverb emanating from the sound hole. And then the chorus.
Playing music is often based on inspiration. If an instrument doesn't sound good or is hard to play or even physically unappealing, it's much harder to be inspired. But, on the other hand, if an instrument is beautiful, easy to play and sounds great, inspiration often follows. And so it is with this guitar.
If the TA were simply a gimmick, a parlor trick, I wouldn't and couldn't recommend it. But the TA feature adds so much more to the inspiration factor and allows me to play in a different mode and way than I usually would. That's a Good Thing.
I think the FS-TA is a brilliant concept that's a game changer. You can play this guitar all day and never use the TA feature and be totally satisfied with its tone and playability. But having the ability to augment the sound with the push of a button is simply delightful.
To say I'm pleased is an understatement. Another great job by Yamaha and by Sweetwater!

You can talk about Beautiful Music, but this thing will make you smile forever. Even with the effects turned off the tone is beautiful. It is my humble opinion that this is the acoustic guitar that the world has been waiting for. You have got to try it to believe it. Thanks to Robby and the Sweetwater Team for the excellent service and attention to details. The AG3-HC case fits Perfect.
PS: My Taylor T5Z is now second best!

Yamaha FS-TA - Brown Sunburst

By B. J. from Sacramento on October 31, 2018

I had been getting ads about the Tonewood Amp which seemed very interesting. Then I stumbled across this guitar from Yamaha with the sound effects and amplification already built in. I thought holy cow what a deal - too good to be true. But I decided to jump on it and ordered one right away. The customer service was excellent. I waited for several weeks because this guitar had been ordered from Yamaha but hadn't arrived yet. Once Sweetwater received them I got mine right away. WHAT A JOY. I love playing this guitar. I can strum it or finger pick it and it sounds great. It uses two (2) double AA batteries. How convenient! I play this guitar just about every day. The sound is great and the action is very good.

Best Guitar I've EVER heard

This guitar has sparked my interest in playing again, I own guitars three times the price of this and they can't hold a candle to the sound of this beauty! I STRONGLY suggest you pick one up TODAY!
Once you hear it, you will know that I speak the truth. Unreal...

Yamaha FS-TA - Brown Sunburst

By Big Cecil on March 14, 2018

First of all it"s hard to find a solid wood guitar at an affordable price. I have looked at so many in this price range and actually higher in price and none of them can compare to this Yamaha. It"s great for finger picking, easy to play with an awesome tone. To go above and beyond they incorporated an internal amp which acts like the tone wood amp you see advertised all over YouTube. This guitar is probably the best at this price point and even higher.

Great Guitar

By DK on November 13, 2020 Music Background: Professional studio guitarist

Yamaha has really built a quality acoustic guitar and the amplification features without amp is really great, no tonewood stuck on back to amplify, plugged in thru amp really nice, the fretboard and frets were great, finish was perfect ,only thing setup wasn't 100%, strings were a little high at 12 fret and higher, will adjust neck, for the price this Yamaha is well worth it , my friend who plays Taylor's said it comes close to his Taylor's.
