Low quality

By Sweetwater Customer from Fl

I'm not sure I would even recommend this pedal to a beginner.

Yamaha FP-7210A

By Clint D. from Houston, TX

A simple and elegant design with smooth action and easy adjustment. All you need to dial it in to your liking is a drum key and a crescent wrench. (there are two 10mm nuts for setting the spring tension). Thank you to Nick Horn and everyone at Sweetwater. My order always arrives on time.

This has to be the best playing pedal under $.

By Sweetwater Customer

I was shocked at how good this pedal played in a store, this is the only pedal I would get under $, most at that price range hold you back. next step up would be the Tama Dyna-sync and the Trick Dominator, those will play as good as the best on earth but for a lower price. But the Yamaha FP-7210A will feel great and you might not need to ever level up.

Gets the job done

By Sweetwater Customer

Overall, it's okay. The chain and action of the pedal feel good but I would recommend changing out the plastic cam roller to an actual bearing. The heel plate has a tendency to rattle. The few times I've taken it out it, hasn't given me any issues. Folds up nice and the beater that comes with it is pretty stellar.

Affordable Performance

By Sweetwater Customer

Simple design that does what I need. I recently started drumming again, and struggled to find comfortable settings on a couple of more expensive pedals. It was suggested to me to try something with a much simpler design. This entry level pedal has been much easier to dial in a setting that works for me.

Nice for a while...

By Sweetwater Customer from WV

I used this pedal for around 2 to 3 years and it was good for a while but it seems like this pedal takes a lot of effort to get it to do what you want... Either it's too close to the drum and the board is super low or it's pulled back and the board is finally higher, except now you're really hammering to get it to make contact..

Greatest pedal of all time!

By Jer t. from Cave Creek Arizona
Music Background: Rock, polka, high school band ,orchestra, college band, 2 years in the USArmy band during Vietnam era, then country, and pop and wherever I could get a gig to pay for college, diapers,,,

And under $ ,,,unbelievable! WAS Time to fix , rebuild or replace my 48 year old Ludwig Speed King pedal,,,purchased this pedal and I am amazed,,,my foot is on fire! Should have tossed that Speed King years ago…beyond me why anyone would spend over $ for a pedal when this is available! Using it with my 1965 Ludwig Classics,,22" bass and sounds incredible,,,

Best pedal of all time

By Sweetwater Customer

This is an extremely great pedal. Great smooth motion, not an accelerated throw like gimmicky modern pedals. This is a smooth throw with incredible control. No unnecessary adjustments, but it has all the adjustments that are really needed. No marketing extras bolted on. It's just a basic, extremely well functioning, never breaking, cheap, dirt cheap, and also long lasting pedal. I run into these things everywhere beat to heck but holding up and they all feel great.

I'm up to three adult students who bought this after having expensive fancy pedals. They were having trouble with their foot technique, feels slow and heavy, not quick and punchy. I let them try one of these pedals, and their rhythm immediately sounded better and it felt smoother and better to them. They bought the pedal by their next lesson and now they're expensive fancy pedals just gathering dust in the garage.

Solid Pedal

By cp from TX
Music Background: classic rock, blues, gospel

This pedal has a good feel and performs as well or better than pedals that cost 2 to 3 times as much. Kudos to Yamaha.

Excellent pedal

By Dean

I don't see why you would need something more expensive. This pedal is unbelievably smooth and well built. Makes faster kick paying way easier than my last pedal which was squeaky and horribly stiff. Love this pedal if you're in this price range this is the best one.

Good affordable pedal

By Danny from Rogers, Arkansas

We purchased this to go with our new Roland Electric Drum set. Pretty straight forward piece of equipment. It works perfectly with the electric bass drum. Sounds great and does the job. It is affordable and works well. I would recommend.

I'm Still Trying To Find a Flaw

By Ken

As a drummer who used a Speed King for 20 years, took 30 years off, and needed a pedal when I returned to drumming, I was dumbfounded to discover how expensive pedals have become. All I wanted was pedal that makes the bass drum go boom when I stomp on it. I found this Yamaha pedal, and while it looks flimsy, I've yet to find a problem with it. It works as well as my old Speed King did with less weight and without squeaking.

Maybe there are advantages to the $300 - $500 pedals that come with their own carrying cases, but I have no idea what they are. This Yamaha is fine for me. If/when I return to gigging, I'll probably buy a second one as a backup just in case something breaks, but I haven't had anything break yet. With my old Speed King I carried spare parts, but with this Yamaha I might as well carry an entire spare pedal, even though it doesn't appear that I'd ever need one.

Responsive pedal

By Mark from Michigan
Music Background: Guitarist and drummer

This pedal is so responsive and natural feeling that I can't believe it only costs this much.
If you're looking for a kick pedal give it a try.

Exceeded expectations...

By Rian R. from CA
Music Background: Gospel/Funk/ Blues/ Pop

I honestly cannot believe how great this pedal feels under my foot...straight out of the box, with no adjustments, I experienced smooth, quick responsiveness comparable to much more expensive pedals.
I own two DW 5000 pedals, one about 3rd generation, the other 4th, and while I've never had any real issues with either one of them, this Yamaha QUICKLY became my go-to.
NOTE:If you're one of those players hung up on having to have a foot plate, don't be: I have a very heavy foot, and play a lot of busy patterns ( I'm primarily a funk drummer), and the lack of a plate on this pedal has ZERO bearing on its effectiveness.
Yamaha has a real winner with this one...

Yamaha FP 7210A

By Austin W. from CA
Music Background: Professional Drummer

I was given this pedal for the church set from a pastor at my church cause he noticed I was bringing my DW 5000. Took 2 minutes to assemble it and it's so easy to adjust the tension and angle of the pedal plate. Felt as good as any other high end pedal you could play. Has a lot of power for a lightweight and old look. So blown away I'm considering buying one for myself. If you're on a budget, this is definitely the pedal for you.

suprised

By mike
Music Background: jazz...funk...

I was pleasently suprised by this pedal. It really is a solid no frillz pedal. Good feel. Like an extension of your foot. All u need for funk or anything that doesnt call for driving your beater thru the head.

Yamaha Standard Drum Pedal

By Smoky H.
Music Background: Professional

I have had this pedal for over 15 years. Reliability is unquestionable. It plays ghost notes, has speed, and a great feel. I've had a tama iron cobra 900 and it has a great feel and reliability also. But it doesn't play ghost notes and not even close to the speed. I set my spring at halfway. Even without the bottom plate the reliability says it all when I said I've used this for 15 years and it still plays as if brand new. This is my go to pedal and the tama iron cobra 900 is backup. I am a touring professional drummer.

The Yamaha Single Chain Bass Drum Pedal

By Frank B. from Craig, Colorado USA
Music Background: Pro Musician

Bought this pedal to go with an Alesis Electronic Drum set.
It works great! The drum set is being used in a church setting.
Our church uses current Christian Chorus music. We have three
drummers who use the pedal. They all like it!

Solid but.......

By Rob C. from Brunei Darussalam
Music Background: Hobbyist

This pedal has a great solid feel and good response. However, I think it suits acoustic kits better. I get a bit of background noise coming through on my Roland kit which can be a bit annoying at times. Still, does the job and I just need to build a bridge and get over it!!

Classic Yamaha Pedal

By Landon L. from Decatur, IN
Music Background: Hobbiest drummer, FOH

This is essentially the same pedal that came with my Yamaha classic professional model albeit with a chain drive instead of the original nylon belt. This pedal maintains the classic reliability and performance of the original — with a reasonable price point. I gave this a 4.5 because I like my pedal to have a floor board rather than steel braces. Other than that, this pedal is very smooth, responsive, and adjustable!
