Guild F-2512E Maple, 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar - Blonde Reviews

12-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Solid Sitka Spruce Top, Maple Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Pau Ferro Fingerboard - Blonde

Here's a Guild with all the makings of a classic: an arched-back jumbo body, a rich 12-string sound, and a vintage-inspired look - all at a great price. The Guild F-2512E Maple's bold projection and lively tone set it apart in a mix, as do its folksy 12-string chorused textures. Its Slim C neck profile with 1-7/8" nut width strikes a good balance between 6-string familiarity and 12-string comfort. This guitar belongs to the Westerly series of acoustics and pays tribute to Guild's golden-era flat tops with some exciting vintage specs and a retro red tortoiseshell pickguard. The F-2512E Maple includes the AP-1 pickup for a clean sound that plugs straight into a PA.

Fantastic

By Neil N from Ypsilanti on April 19, 2024 Music Background: Gear and Instrument Junkie

Kicking myself for not getting one sooner. As soon as I got it out and played my wife said why haven't you had this available to play for me it sounds way better than any of your other guitars. Guess she's never heard a 12 string in person before..

Anyway very happy with this guitar and the awesome service Will Crisp has always provided me with over the years of buying gear!

Well Researched

By Richard Howell from Nevada City, CA on April 1, 2024 Music Background: Shy, solitary player for the past 50 years.

I can't tell you how many videos I watched before I narrowed down my search for a 12-string. Finally, made a 50-mile trek to test my top-3 choices in person. The 2512 won easily. I like a 12-string with a bright lively tone. I think it features the unique qualities of the 12-string. Playing and singing mostly for my own pleasure, my new 2512 is just fun to play.

Wow

By Chris from MN on February 6, 2024 Music Background: Non-pro guitar player, 35 years

Never had a 12 string, nor a blonde jumbo guitar. Didn't want to take out a mortgage to get one, as they are specialized tools for me. Read the reviews, and went for it. NO REGRETS: the sound has a depth that is beautiful; a deep resonant wave that really shapes individual notes and the typical chime sound from 12. It sounds like an angelic chorus if I let it ring in a nearly soundproof room... Its not a flashy guitar, which I thought I wouldn't like but I do. It adds to the effect of it overall. I really like the ring of mother of pearl around the sound hole... beautiful touch, and fitting, as this thing sounds angelic. I've played 12's before, but never a jumbo. Now I'm a believer, and I can hear what I miss on smaller, shallower body styles.

For the price point, as other reviews have said, its incredible an instrument that costs this little can sound this good. Thank you, Guild-- I'll be back for more!

Guild F-2512 Maple 12 string

By Ted Popp from Waupaca, WI on January 22, 2024

I have owned several Guilds. Some of which I have let go for various reasons. Mostly to my dismay. I am the original owner of a Westerly R.I. made '77 D-35. BUT this F-2512 for the $$ is the finest playing and sounding of the 12 strings I have owned. Those being an '88 Cedar and Mahogany Takamine and a 70s Spruce and Mahogany Martin D-20 12. I can not find any issues with this instrument. In fact I am playing it more than any of the others in my stable. Nick Duties, my Sweetwater Rep. has always done an excellent job for me. Unless it's happens to be at a local shop... SWEETWATER is my GO TO online or phone contact connection.

Guild F2512E

As a working professional that plays 12 string acoustics and electric 90% of the time this guitar is an amazing addition to my show guitars! Plays easily, weighs next to nothing! I love it! I may even buy another to have as a backup!!

WOW!!!

By Rosalie Babineaux from Tucson, AZ on December 13, 2023 Music Background: Pro

Got my Guild 2512 today and I can summarize my reaction of this guitar with one word, WOW! Loud, articulate and flawless construction. The velvety satin finish feels great especially under the neck with the only flaw is it nearly hides an otherwise nice lightly flamed and birdseyed back and sides, even the sides are bookmatched! Top is well matched too. Sounds bright and chimney without an over emphasis on the bass like rosewood can which should help a lot in cutting through a mix without a lot of EQ. The Fishman electronics are not quite what I would call stellar but certainly more than adequate. For the usual $ price point I have to give this guitar an absolute 5 stars let alone at the current sale price, I'm completely floored!! My final remarks are if you have been considering any acoustic 12 purchase I recommend this all maple Guild Jumbo and especially now while they are still on sale!

Excellent Guitar!

By My Wife's 1st Husband from California on September 15, 2023 Music Background: semi-professional drummer / amatuer guitar player

I purchased my blonde Guild F-2512E (brand new, online) because I like Guild, but had not read any reviews first (duh!). When I read them as I was waiting for the guitar to arrive, I was shocked at how many bad reviews there were. But... when it arrived I was pleased to find everything perfect. I cannot find anything I don't like about this guitar. The finish and quality of construction is excellent. The wood is not what you would find on a $5,000 Martin, but it is all book-matched and very, very nice. I am not a fan of "matte" finishes on guitars, but this one is gorgeous. The weight is very light for a jumbo, which is nice. The Fishman pickup makes this 12 string sound angelic. I like all the Guild swag it came with also. I highly recommend this Guild 12 String.

Loving the Guild 12 string

By Gerald Laver from Panama City FL on January 31, 2023

I bought my Guild F-2512E 12-String Acoustic-Electric Guitar 3 years ago, still love the sound, ease of play, tone, it's everything I was looking for in a new acoustic-electric guitar. I've used it both as a standalone instrument to lead singing in church, and backing up an ensemble, it doesn't disappoint. Holds its tuning better than anything else I've owned, even after string changes. Highly recommend!

Great Affordable 12-String from Guild

By Carl B. from Yukon, OK on December 1, 2022 Music Background: Lifelong musician.

This was my first online purchase of a guitar. I've had several guitars, including a 12-string, over the years. It has been 30+ years since I've had a 12-string. After doing research on Taylor and Washburn 12-string guitars, I went with my instinct and purchased this F2512-E Blond Maple instrument and was amazed and pleased at the lushness of its tone and its playability. Sweetwater had it on sale, which made my decision to pull the trigger on the purchase a lot easier. The guitar was heavily protected for shipment. I ordered the guitar on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and received it the following Sunday. I was kept informed by emails and text and received it a day earlier than expected. It took a couple of hours for the guitar to acclimatize to my house after being shipped in cold weather. Once it was warmed up and properly humidified, the tones were bright and full. I am a believer in Sweetwater and highly recommend this guitar to anyone.

Guild F-2512EMB

By Wayne from Springfield, OR on November 30, 2022 Music Background: I was a Trumpet Player in High School. I was then a Trumpet and Guitar player in the US Navy Band. I followed that up with several years playing nightly on the East Coast and then some album work later on the West Coast.

I just received this 12-String Guild today and it is perfect. It is even perfectly in tune. I am happy I decided on this particular 12-String. I looked at several others, but for the price and quality, this F-2512 can't be beat.

Exceptional,

By Joseph Ullman from New Hampshire on June 21, 2022 Music Background: Past classical student and 67 year old fingerstyle

Unlike many current guild aficionados, I'm 67 and owned two of them back in the 70s. One was a StarFire semi hollow body, the other was an F212 12 string. It was magnificent. Nothing I've ever played before or since has approached the sound or playability of Guild acoustic 12 strings. Nothing. Martin, Taylor, Yamaha, the only 12 string I would even entertain would be a used or new handmade guild, or maybe a Bozo if I could find one for less than $15,000! Anyway back in college I was pretty good and able to play some pretty good Leo Kottke stuff. I stopped playing for almost 40 years and sadly like an idiot sold the guild 12 string back in the 90s. When I restarted a couple of years ago, concentrating on finger style guitar I was thrilled to see that guild was resurrected and bought one of these from Sweetwater. I couldn't believe the price and I couldn't believe the workmanship. Fit and finish were absolutely perfect, arched braceless back, satin finish, only thing different was the less ornate headstock inlay. The intonation and action were absolutely perfect. The only difference and it could very easily just be me, is that I find it a little harder to finger than the other one and I'm not sure if the string spacing and neck are the same or it's just that I am less capable. I can't even imagine looking at another 12 string.I don't know, maybe a Japanese bozo just to have the headstock. You can Google bozo if you don't know what I'm talking about. As I am also a Furch fan maybe a Furch 12 string but it's nowhere near the price of this. The guild company should be thrilled with what they've accomplished.

the only 12 string brand to buy

By joe from DUrham, NH on June 20, 2022 Music Background: decent fingerstyle guitarist

67 years old and back in college I bought a brand new Guild F212 12 string. It was absolutely transcendent. What a sound. What playability. Fast forward. Stopped playing for decades. Back in late 90's sold the 212, along with all my other guitars save 2.
Started playing again in 2020. Found Guild was making guitars again. Always missed this guitar and always felt Guild made some of the best sounding acoustic guitars out there - competitive with and/or better than Martin and Gibson and Taylor. Still feel that way.
So I got a fabulous price on this pristine new 2512. Looks and sounds as good as my old 212. Miss the fancier headstock inlay, but hey. Also, can't tell if it is me (probably) but it is harder to finger the fingerboard than the 212 was. Not sure if the string spacing is different at all (doubt it) or I'm just not as precise (don't doubt it.)

Set up from Sweetwater was immaculate. This is hanging on a rack on my wall in a humidified room. Looks beautiful and the intonation is perfect. Surprisingly easy to tune. Don't use any electronics so can't comment on that....
Would I recommend this without hesitation? Yes.
Would I buy any other brand 12 string? Maybe an original Bozo (look it up).

Happy Camper

I've wanted one of these Guild 12 strings for years but the timing wasn't right. Recently, however, all the stars came into alignment and I jumped the broom! So pleased with my F-2512E Maple! It truly plays as beautiful as it looks and the intonation, setup by the cats at Sweetwater, is awesome! I can't wait to take it out to my next gig and hear it plugged in and amped up! Mid priced but high quality instrument!

Finally pulled the Trigger ...

By Steve Featherston from Batavia, OH on April 29, 2022 Music Background: Fingerstyle Guitar, Flat-picking Guitar. Country/Blues/Light Rock/Old Jazz. Singer-guitarist

Wanted to get a 12 string for a long time. Played Taylors, Martins and a few others. Of course, the Taillylors and Martins sounded great, but the price tag was a bit more than I willing to pay ...

Did a little internet research and heard about the Guild Westerly series. Everyone seemed to praising them. Then I saw the price ... . I was skeptical. How could a 12 string at the price point sound that great AND be playable.

Found one at Brand X national music store and asked about the set up. They told me that they "pull it out of the box, tune it up and hang it on the rack ..."

That left me cold. So I got on the Sweetwater site.

Put the guitar in the "shopping cart" then hesitated. Called Sweetwater and they told me about their multi-point inspection. Great conversation with the sales guy.

Hung up, then clicked on the "complete order" button.

It arrived a couple days later. I was about to rip the box open, but then saw the "Beware Sign" about waiting a couple of days. So I reluctantly did.

Finally opened it on Monday. It looked and felt great! And it was almost still in tune!

I own a Cordoba classical, a Taylor grand concert and a Gretch Jim Dandy. And I play them all regularly.

This Guild 12 string sounds as good (at least to my ears) as guitars listing 3 to 4 times as much! The Maple gives it a projection and brilliance that just shines. Every time I decide to sit down and play it for a few minutes ... Well the next thing you know, an hour or 2 has gone by!

Open string chords "up the neck" simple sound like an orchestra. Heck, playing a open "G" and just letting it ring makes me remember why I started playing in the first place!

Before COVID, I played out 30 / 40 times a year. And I kind of thought I'd gave up that part of my life for good. But since I've picked up this new axe, the urge to play in front of people has taken hold of me again!

If you're considering a 12 string, take a look at this one. No ... Just buy the darn thing! You won't regret it.

And buy it from Sweetwater ... No mysteries that way. Someone that loves guitars as much as you do will have checked it out, and made sure it's ready to go.

This guitar is truly amazing! Ive wanted to have a12 string guitar for a while now and finally took the plunge. This guitar plays like a dream, and the craftmanship is incredible! Then on top of that Sweetwater's 55 point inspection is hard to beat. Get this guitar , you will not regret it.

Fits Like a Glove, Plays Like a Dream

By Miles Stoneman from Horse Cave, KY on January 15, 2022

I haven't owned a 12-string guitar since the 90's. My last one by another manufacturer was decent, but the neck felt like a 2X4. And the action was awful. But this one...wow. I own 2 6-string guitars by well-known manufacturers, but the neck and action on this one surpass them both! And somehow, despite the "jumbo" body, it's really comfortable to hold either standing or sitting on a stool. I just love it!

Great guitar

Fantastic 12 String at Any Price

By Jack Baker from Le Roy, IL on August 30, 2021

I've been considering purchasing a 12 string for a while now and fell in love with the looks of this guitar online. The spruce top with blonde maple back and sides is a really eye-catching combination that's even better looking in person. This isn't the first 12 string I've ever played, but the first I've owned. I found the neck to be very comfortable and the jumbo body provides a full rich sound. The placement of the strap button on the neck heel seems very well thought out and the guitar hangs just right with no neck dive or awkwardness despite the size. I really like how Guild has chosen to install the output jack separate from the end pin with convenient access to the battery. It's a really smart setup and I like it better than acoustics that have the jack in the endpin. I can't believe that this guitar was only $ bucks. Sounds great, plays great, and the workmanship is top notch. Guild even includes a cloth bag with velcro closure with a truss rod wrench, the manual, 2 picks, and 2 stickers. This would be a great guitar at any price. Very impressed and will definitely consider purchasing another Guild in the future. Sweetwater as always comes through with a great deal, quick shipping, and secure packaging.

Incredible value!!

By Brian Williams from Richmond, VA on August 22, 2021 Music Background: Professional musician

I can't say enough good things about this instrument. I play solo acoustic gigs professionally and needed to add a 12 string to my arsenal. This guitar delivers in spades. The tone is fantastic, the playability is amazing and even the stock Fishman pickup sounds great through my Radial Tonebone pre and Evolve 30M PA system. The fit and finish is nearly flawless, and I honestly can't believe Guild can sell this thing for $... To be fair, this is a no frills instrument, with bottom of the line wood and appointments. But I needed the 12 string *sound* and the audience doesn't care if it has figured wood or pearl inlays. All the functional stuff is solid. Intonation is spot on. Tuners are very workable and smooth. The action is amazingly comfortable for a 12 string and I can play this thing for a whole set without feeling like my hand is going to fall off. Two minor rubs:
1. the cheap nylon nut and plastic saddle suck. But a quick trip to my local tech to install a bone nut/saddle with solve that problem for ~$150.
2. No case.
An amazing value. I would have expected this guitar alone to be ~$1000 MSRP. Great job Guild and Sweetwater! **NOTE** I did have an issue with this guitar at first and you can read that story below if you want. But Sweetwater handled it amazingly well and once again proved why they are the best in the biz. I get more comments from my audience about this guitar than anything else I play! Thanks guys!!

*FULL DISCLOSURE - I ordered my this guitar from Sweetwater in May of 2021 and the first one I received was a trainwreck. The neck was warped and the action was unplayable past the fifth fret. I took it to my tech of two decades to see what could be done. Nothing. He tightened the truss rod all the way to the max and it barely made a difference. Some of the frets were poking out past the edge of the fretboard and the wood showed signs of exposure to extreme heat. My tech's theory was that the guitar had been on a container that got stuck in the Suez Canal back in the spring. Anyway, whatever. I couldn't play it, so I called Sweetwater to discuss the situation. My rep Tiberius was helpful as usual and referred me to Joe Stilwell in the guitar tech department. Joe was fantastic and immediately offered to send me a brand new guitar once I told him what happened. It was on backorder, but once the new guitar arrived, the setup was *perfect* right out of the box! I think the bad guitar was an anomaly as my tech said he had seen two of these come through his shop and both were outstanding. I would order it again with no worries.

Great 12-string Guitar at Any Price

By James Quattlebaum from Bend, OR on August 21, 2021

After reading rave reviews on various guitar forums (and knowing that Guild is known for quality instruments), I ordered the Guild F-2512E from Sweetwater. I have only had it for one week but I can't put it down! If 12-strings are typically more difficult to play than 6-strings then this Guild is atypical. The neck is the perfect shape for my small hands and the action is excellent (the 55-point inspection service from Sweetwater made sure that everything was set to factory specs).

I could not be any happier with my purchase. It's a beautiful guitar!

Love the Guild 12-string

By Sweetwater Customer on June 29, 2021

I've been playing 12-string guitars all my life and decided to splurge for a new one. The sound of the F-2512E is brilliant. Playing is easy on the fingers. Unlike my other guitars, there is no need to tune it low and capo to the 1st or 2nd fret to minimize the tension. The blond wood is beautiful and the craftsmanship is superb. I couldn't be happier.

Guild F512E

By Matthew from Indianapolis, IN on June 23, 2021 Music Background: 20 years playing guitar; both in bands and writing songs at home

I am constantly amazed at the quality of these Guild guitars. This is definitely the best choice you can make in this price range and if it were a 6-string, I think it could easily go toe-to-toe with my higher-end Taylor acoustic. If you're looking for a 12-string acoustic on a budget, this is the one.

Guild F-2512

By Steve Prescott from Grants Pass Oregon on April 25, 2021

When I first opened the box/case (an excruciating 24 hours after it arrived) I was first struck by how beautiful this guitar is. I looked it over very carefully looking for any flaws, I found none. The finish, the frets and finally the sound. I loved it from the first strum.

I've heard criticism about these guitars being made in China but honestly, I've got a Guild D4 that was made in Westerly R.I. in the late 1990's and the quality is at least comparable to that and maybe better. If you have been on the fence about buying this guitar, just do it. You won't be sorry.

Great and Affordable

By Ron Smith from VA on March 24, 2021 Music Background: Self taught and play in a blue grass band.

I hadn't had a 12 string for a number of years. And, I had never had a Guild guitar. When I saw the affordable (for me) F-2512E I researched it, watched videos of people playing it, and made the decision to order one. With the pandemic and weather affecting shipping it took a little longer than normal to get my new instrument but the wait was well worth it! This guitar is well made and sounds great. It is easy to chord and the electronics work well. It sound really good unamplified and even better when I hook up to my acoustic amp. Thanks to Guild I now have another addition to my growing collection.

First 12 string

By Matthew Stone from RIO RANCHO, NM on March 23, 2021

I wanted a 12 string for a while, but I was hesitant to pay for something that I wasn't sure I would like. for the price that this one was, I decided to try it, and I'm so glad I did.

This was my first time buying from Sweetwater, and I was impressed with the Bryan Leo reaching out to me and letting me know the status of my order. He did a great job and I really appreciate him taking the time to call and email me pictures of my guitar before it shipped.

The guitar arrived on the day Sweetwater said it would, and was set up nicely. I had to tune it, that's all. I was kind of nervous ordering a guitar online that I had never laid my hands on, but it's great that Sweetwater takes the time to make sure everything was as good as it could be before shipping it out.

Unplugged, it sounds amazing. Nice and bright and full. Great for strumming sad old country songs. I'm still getting used to fingerpicking this guitar, because it obviously feels a lot different under my right hand than a 6 string, but that's on me, not the guitar.

The Fishman pickup it comes with does a great job of amplifying the sound, also. I had to dial back the tone knob a lot to take some of the high end off- but in Fishman's defense, I was running it through an AC15, which I'm pretty sure is not the best platform for a piezo pickup. Once I got it dialed in, the sound coming out of the amp was pretty close to the unplugged sound. I'm looking forward to running it through a PA system to see how it sounds through a monitor.

I recommend this to anyone looking to see if a 12 string is for them. You aren't going to get more guitar for the money, especially an acoustic.

Gorgeous guitar at a fair price

By Justin Johns from Gray, TN on December 25, 2020

Just arrived today and I can already tell I'll have this guitar for a long time. Sounds wonderful, stays in tune, and feels premium. Exactly what you would expect from a guild guitar.

Great Guitar

By Eric Webber on December 19, 2020 Music Background: Hard Rock/Classic Rock

Fantastic right out of the box. Sounds great, action is good (especially for a 12 string), very comfortable to play. Have not had opportunity to plug into the PA system yet, but expect it will excellent. The satin finish is very smooth, the neck is very easy to play, even moving up the fret board. It's not the flashiest guitar in my collection, but it is classic and attractive. Highly recommended.

Great Mid range priced 12 string

By David Garcia from CA on December 16, 2020

This has been alot of fun to play, sounds great, looks great and feels great. Tuned to standard it has a nice "boomy" sound to it, and tuning it to E flat allows that lush chime to present itself. I hear others complain about not enjoying 12 strings due to tuning issues, but i can tell you the tuning for this beauty holds very well, but maybe that's due to the setup done by Sweetwater. Tuning it to D standard i did find some of the strings slightly detune here and there while playing but obviously that would be due to the reduction of tension.

The setup on this when i got it out of the box was incredible, i know Sweetwater put their touches on it before they shipped it out to me and i can feel that when playing it. I have played this a few times at my local guitar shop and it did not feel as well setup as mine did.

I would say if you are looking for a great 12 string but don't want to risk a bad experience with an entry level, or spend too much, this is the instrument for you, incredibly great value for the price, and i could not be happier.

Big shout out to my sales rep Josh Kattner for always taking care of me and ensuring i am satisfied with my purchases, the customer service i receive is outstanding and why i continue to give Sweetwater my business.

Hands down the best in the price range!

By Luke Sabala from Joshua Tree, CA on November 26, 2020 Music Background: 50 years and counting playing guitar and bass.

Right out of the box this guitar was setup perfectly (thanks to the guys at Sweetwater and their 55 point inspection). Even with shipping across the country, the guitar was still in perfect tune. I am always a little nervous about buying a guitar and having it shipped but, the folks at Sweetwater do an extra good job of adding additional packing around the factory box to protect your investment.

For the price range, I think this is an exceptional value. The quality of this guitar is above the $500.00 price range. The action is smooth across the fretboard and is on par with higher priced guitars. The play-ability at the higher notes (e.g when playing "Wanted Dead or Alive") is excellent. The tonal quality is also excellent for the price range of this instrument. The e-pickup sounds really good through a variety of amps including a solid state practice amplifier. However, the sound really comes through on a tube amplifier. Turn the volume down just a little bit on the guitar (on a scale of 1-10 use a 6 or 7) for great results. One thing I look for in a guitar is how good the intonation is. This is really important when you capo up on the neck (e.g. when playing Hotel California). This is the hardest thing manufacturers can get right on an acoustic guitar. Even high end guitars (e.g. Martin/Gibson) have difficulty getting this right all the time. On an electric guitar the intonation is usually adjustable but, on a acoustic guitar the intonation is set by using a special bridge piece that is either hand carved or machine carved to set the intonation of each string (see photo). Cheap guitars use plastic bridge with prefabricated molded settings. On this guitar the bridge is real bone and appears to be hand carved (although not 100% sure) to set the intonation. This is usually found on more expensive guitars. On this 12 string guitar, when I capo up to the 5th fret there was little to no re-tuning required. At the 12th fret a little re-tuning was required compared to the open string tuning. Have to say that the intonation is darn good for this price range.

If you are looking for an excellent value in a 12 string without breaking the bank this is the one. On one review I read, the reviewer commented on the tuners. I feel the tuners are on par with the price of this guitar. However, if you did to install new high quality tuners this would only enhance the value and quality of this guitar.

I hope this review was of value to prospective buyers. I always read every review before buying guitar or anything for that matter.

Special thanks to Ted Hunter my Sales Engineer for over a decade now!

Was this really only $500?! WOW!

By Jason LeBlanc from ACWORTH, GA on October 24, 2020

As soon as I took this guitar out of the box I was impressed, very pretty, very well made. Then I sat down and played it. I was blown away at the tone and fullness, forget the price. This is my first 12 string and I expected more difficulty adapting from 6 string, there was very little if any. Having owned many guitars, from Taylor DCSM to PRS, this thing is a steal!

Excellent 12 String Acoustic Guitar

This 12 string is so comfortable to play! It felt right the first time and has ever since. The jumbo shape has such a classic look and the tone is amazing. Other 12 strings feel like a workout to me, but this one is hard to put down. I would recommend this guitar to anyone wanting to purchase a 12 string. It is really inspiring me to write.

I have been teaching myself how to play guitar for a couple years now, and finally decided to pull the trigger on a 12 string. After doing some research, I decided on the 2512 and I could not be happier! The sound and ease of play for this seems to be way beyond the price I paid! One of the biggest concerns that I had was the action but it could not be more beginner friendly. I press lighter than I do with my Washburn 6 string acoustic and get better sound. Amazing guitar that I look forward to growing into.

What a beautiful instrument both the sound and the looks of this guitar are excellent. Classic jangly 12 string tones and this thing projects. Sustain is great, bought the "Demo" model with a scratch on it, I'll let you know when i find the scratch. Cody Krause my sales engineer assured me that this was one of the best 12 strings out there at this price point, and he has never steered me wrong yet, thanks Cody. I will be returning to Sweetwater and will definitely look to Guild for the quality if their products.

Amazing 12 string!

By Jeremy from HIBBING, MN on May 15, 2020

I was blown away by the Guild F-2512E Maple. Amazing full bright sound and easy to play with low action. It's easier to play than some of my 6 strings. Excellent construction. Definitely worth the price.

Wow...Just Wow!

By Sam from Syracuse on April 28, 2020 Music Background: Hobbyist, Collector, and almost gigging musician...Thanks CoVid-19 :(

I can't believe the quality of this instrument at this incredible price! I've owned 12 strings three to four times the price of this and they couldn't hold a candle to the Guild F-2512E Maple! The action is so low, and the neck is super comfortable to grip. This guitar will be one that I hold onto indefinitely. Thanks to Brian and the incredible staff at Sweetwater. I never have a worry when I order here. This is definitely my "gateway Guild"
Amazing.

Insanely Good Value

Now THAT'S 12 string sound!

By Bob Perrone from Allentown, PA on March 13, 2020 Music Background: Fingerstyle acoustic soloist - blues, jazz and new age

I've been a player for about 60 years and early on I fell in love with and played 12 strings, using them as my main composing medium for solo instrumental work. Of course, along the way, I've gathered together several instruments from mid-range Yamaha and Ibanez models until finally having a 12 string harp guitar built for me at considerable cost.
I've always had the desire to have that grand daddy of 12 strings, the arch back Guild jumbo but it was out of reach. I knew about the Westerly collection but didn't have a chance to try one until recently. I was amazed at how much bang for the buck was available and that the Guild 12 string sound could be had for what I consider a steal of a price.
I received the instrument 2 days ago and I am just as happy as I was when I tried one out. The folks at Sweetwater check the puppy out and gave it their seal of approval and shipped and arrived on time well packaged and protected.
Bright, full and projects like a cannon! The wife thought I was plugged into an amp when she heard it coming out of the studio - incredible.
Highly recommended if the American made model is out of reach - you won't be disappointed!

Great 12-String!

By Jim Riley from Fairfax, Virginia on March 10, 2020 Music Background: Guitar Hobbyist

I got my Guild F-2512E a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it. It is a very well-built instrument for the money. It has a very nice woody, natural timbre and is well-balanced tonally. The neck is a bit more chunky than I am used to, but I assume this is typical with most 12-string acoustic guitars. I'm not a big fan of the pickup system in the guitar, but have been playing it mostly unplugged. When it is played unplugged, the guitar really fills a room tonally and has a lot of power. Overall, I am happy with this guitar and would recommend to anyone who is looking for an affordable 12-string. I would like to thank my sales engineer, Mark Magdich, for his continued excellent customer service.

Search YouTube for reviews of this guitar. What you hear is what you get - a great guitar. Plugged straight into my Fishman Loudbox Performer, it is perfectly balanced and very natural sounding. I play with fingernails and it totally works. Good workmanship too.

Fantastic 12-string acoustic. Esp/ for the price

By James Daily from Fairborn, OH on February 11, 2020

I just got mine today, played it briefly on my break from work and can already assure any potential buyer that this is an exceptionally quality made instrument. Ive played cheaper 12s before but this...this guitar has life and tone that can match big ticket guitars. Guild gets it done. Period. As does Sweetwater.

A Guilded Lillie

By Robert Copley from Redding, CA on February 5, 2020

What a wonderful sounding 12 string. I had the team at Sweetwater set her up before shipping, and I'm really happy I did.
There will be a note on the shipping box that advises not to open for 24 hours to allow for acclimating, so don't get too excited when it arrives, but be ready for some great sounds. Slim, easy to play neck, nice hardware, all around great looks.
I've ordered a Gator case, as per my amazing rep, Brent Leuthold's recommendation, I'll update when it comes in and let you know how it fits.

Best 12 string for the money!

By Mark Byndas from Evart, MI on December 25, 2019

I have had a 12 string Takamine for 30 years and thought that was great. I took a ride on this Guild and I couldn't believe the tone and sound from this 12. The neck is so nice I wish it was on my other 12 string. Really, call and ask for Corey and he can answer anything you would like to know. If your ordering online read all these reviews. All of us doing a review aren't blowing smoke. For the price your paying, you will be blown away. It's that nice. The tuners really hold there own. My buddy has a 12 string and I flat out told him to go buy new tuners or buy this Guild. So he picked it up and he played my Guild F-2512E (maple in blonde) and he fell in love with the sound and feel. He said the best part was he didn't have to keep re-tuning as he does on his guitar. After we were playing for over an hour we went to get some dinner to eat. Coming back later on that night to play some with friends. He went over and grabbed it and it was still in tune. I knew it would be. But he always was having to re-tune his 12 string. He said he's hooked. He may just go out and buy this model at Sweetwater and forget about his old one. I hope so.

Enormous sound

I shopped for a year playing, researching, inquiring what we're the best 12 string for the money....mixed brands were tossed out, but guild kept coming up...after considering cost and quality, I decided on the f2512E....the maple really gives it that rich, sustain and tone which truly outperforms guitars 6 times the price...couldnt be more pleased with my second Guild guitar....think I've found my brand...definately made to be played.

Took a road tip to the Sweetwater complex (awesome place) Had several other 12 strings on my radar before I got there. Played several and I saw a guy put this axe back on the rack, WOW I played it and nuff said. he and I talked about the sound compared to other 12 strings and if you have played a lot of acoustic guitars sometimes there is an AHAAA moment for me this was 1 of those. My Sweetwater rep Ben Rys gave me awesome service. I would recommend this axe to anyone. I have had it for about a month. 12 strings are noted for the thick sound this has both low end and high end resonance

Great Guitar

Guild F-2512e

So I did a lot of online research for a 12 string acoustic. My personal preference is a Taylor 12. For me that's what I compare most 12's to.
I tried the Takamine G Series EG523SC-12 and I had narrowed everything, cheaper, down to these 2. I had played the Guild at a Guitar Center and was pleasantly suprised at its playablity, but I had trouble finding a Takamine to play. The more I read and listened online I gravitated towards the Tak. I got it online at Guitar Center with the thought that if I didn't like it I could take it back and deal with them at a store. Best thing I could've done because that's exactly what I ended up doing.
The Takamine 12 has a very big design flaw. If your looking for low playable action you will NOT find it in a Takamine 12. The whole saddle/pickup assembly prevents you from lowering the action very much. I was able to take it back and they let me trade it almost straight acoss for the Guild F-2512e. I got the 3 year warranty on which is an awesome thing to be able to do on a used guitar. I got the blonde back as opposed to the brown back version.
All I did was adjust the truss rod a little and man it is close to Taylor playability. and Yes I have a Taylor 6 string. I will eventually get a Taylor 12, when I can afford it, but for now this guitar is awesome. The sound obviously is not as nice as a high end guitar, but the neck sure is. I read a lot of bad reviews about the pickup in it so I'm just going to put an lr baggs lyric in it and a nice bone saddle and it should do very nicely. Great Guitar!

Great Beginner 12 string Guitar

By Mr. H from Houston, TX on June 12, 2019 Music Background: Intermediate

I really do appreciate the sound of a 12 string guitar and this model has exceeded my expectations. Its cost is at a lower end but the sound is really great. I was able to play it right away with a little tuning. This is now by favorite guitar out of four I bought from Sweetwater.

Sweetwater is a great place to buy musical instruments added with the great customer service c/o Ed Nystrom. More power y'all.

The Thrill is Real

This Jumbo size 12 string is very comfortable to hold and the neck is thin and easy to grasp. The sound is huge unplugged also excellent plugged-in. Sweetwater shipped the guitar to me very quickly with a good set-up and decent strings.

Great guitar especially for the Price

Great starter or backup 12 string

By Paul Catterton from Wentzville, MO on November 22, 2021

Great starter 12 string or a backup for your main guitar. This is the one I keep out and will be the one that travels with me. It's got great tone for a $ guitar and it's well built. Sweetwater performed a great setup to my specs prior to ship. Pros: decent pickup; comfortable size and thin neck profile. Cons: flecks/dust in the finish; a little anemic on bass and it really, really needs a case. Thankfully, Sweetwater sells a well-padded Guild gig bag for an additional $. Great guitar otherwise.

Guild F-2512E Maple - Blonde

By Dolf Small from iNDIANA on November 26, 2019 Music Background: 41 Yrs PLaying

Went to sweetwater complex to pick up another guitar and wanted an acoustic to take to the lake cabin or just anyplace that I didn't want to take my high end guitars. Played several similar axes most of them more than I wanted to pay for a guitar that was going to be in the elements for days at a time. Saw this one hanging there strummed it and wow it had more tone (bottom end almost every 12 has rich high end) . Played it and wow neck is great set up great intonation awesome. This guitar is probably the best high end sounding axe for the money in my opinion that ive ever played

Impressive...

By Kenneth on March 15, 2022 Music Background: Trained and Dedicated

This build is a value. Very impressed with the neck and there haven't been many growing pains thus far. Build quality seems to be great. Box had a few dents and gouges from transit but guitar was fine. Nice "chimey" sound, great clarity. Not a ton of sustain, possibly due to deep body. Overall for what I paid, I'm very happy. Great, fun guitar, and solid value for the price. Only con is that the tuners feel cheap, but for this price they had to cut corners somewhere.

Good sound & playabilty for the price.

By Manny G. on July 1, 2021

Mine came with rusty strings and a bowed neck, but after tightening the truss rod straightening the neck ,adjusting the saddle height & installing new strings, she sounds & plays beautifully, very good instrument for the price.

Very pleased with this guitar.

By Steve C from Nashville on May 22, 2020 Music Background: 12 years as a recording engineer.

I wanted a 12-string, and knew for years Guild acoustic guitars are among the best. The Jumbo body only really feels large when moving across the room, but feels very natural when you're playing it. I really like the neck on this guitar, for a 12-string, it feels and plays like a Slim Taper neck. The sound this guitar makes is very lush, the maple body gives it brightness, like a Taylor, but the the Jumbo body really projects bottom end as well.
I'd give it five stars if not for the tuners. I understand needing to hit a price point, and they are the only criticism I have. They just aren't smooth, and I plan to replace them.

I love the sound.of this 12 string. Loud and bold if I use a pick and I can tone it down if finger pick. Sounds good on my acoustic amp. I know it's not the high end but for the money., worth every dollar. Very satisfied. Randy Mc. AUSTIN, Texas

Sound board cracking

By greg968 from Williamston, MI on December 22, 2022

I purchased this guitar in 2016. During my last restringing I found multiple cracks in the soundboard. After discussing the issue with James from Sweetwater Service his response from Guild was to submit photos and take the guitar to a local guitar shop for a hands-on review. I took it to Mike from Elderly Music who unfortunately had his mind made up that the damage was from being in a dry environment even before seeing the guitar. Of course Chris from Guild agreed with Mike and now the problem is mine with no warranty coverage. I've been playing guitar for 50+ years owning many guitars and have never had this issue I'm seeing on this guitar. I'd stay away from this model and perhaps Guild in general for their lack of support not to mention Elderly Music.
