Amazing value for solo or duo acoustic monitoring

By Michael Tritter from Northwood, NH on January 10, 2024 Music Background: Solo and Duo Acoustic performance

I'm not in a band with a drummer or lots of competing instrumentation, though this might (or might not) be helpful for that situation, don't know. What I do know is that for my gigs as a solo acoustic performer, and/or my gigs with my acoustic partner, this floor wedge monitor is amazing. You might find one for ever so slightly less money than its incredibly low price, but why bother at this price point, it is an undeniable value. I run a feed to the 'Line In' (xlr) and it is pristine, balanced, and gets plenty loud. I've gotten to the point where that even when I'm playing acoustic at home by myself to rehearse, I use the Eurolive. 5 stars, easily.

Made a world of difference

By Monty Dicksion from YUCAIPA, CA on December 26, 2023

In my practice room I was using a Behringer B105D for a monitor, and it did OK for its size. I was considering getting another one for gigging. That's when I noticed I was struggling to make out my vocals from the rest of what I had going through my small monitor. My rep, Mike Singer gave me a few suggestions for alternative monitors, one being this Behringer Eurolive F1220D. That made all the difference in the world, and I'm sure it will do just fine for gigs. Plus, even with its 12" speaker, its size is ideal for me as a solo. And being bi-amped was a smart way to make it. I'm very happy with this purchase. The only problem is, now I need one for my practice room!

Long lasting, good sound

By Sweetwater Customer on December 26, 2023 Music Background: 40 years live band experience

I've had one of these for several years. It works great and sounds fine for vocals. We usually only have vocals in the monitors and hear the instruments from the amps. But they are good even for those times when everything is sent through. Plenty loud for us. Priced right and certainly got my monrys worth.

You’ll get MORE than what you pay for

By Samir from Denver on November 10, 2023

This is an exceptional PA speaker to have around. Small footprint, excellent control for sound dynamics with EQ, and two XLR inputs.

I used this as a monitor for our drummer at a wedding gig. BUT it actually saved the day before the set! There was no mention of needing pre-concert sound outside the venue door but I was able to run a XLR cable outside with a power cable and within 2 minutes, I extended our background music to outside in a last minute pinch. It's small, versatile, and can handle 90% or more on level settings without any distortion or clipping. For what you pay, just buy it. It could be a handy backup or a useful tool.

Great sound reproduction. Clear and punchy with increased power. Lighter weight and smaller footprint than previous models. Without a doubt the best in its price range.

The Behringer Eurolive

By Rahshad Muhammad from Santa Ana, CA on September 13, 2023 Music Background: Jazz Classical and everything in between.

The Eurolive is wonderful as a monitor it has great power and acts like a preamp for a line out to a mixer for any live performance. I highly recommend it for any any acoustic instruments or singers.

Excelent Monitors!

By Sweetwater Customer on May 9, 2023

Love these little guys - have all the punch we need for a frontline situation.

Great Addition

By Sweetwater Customer on February 22, 2023

I use a powered amp and passive speakers for my live performances. I plugged this into my line out and it works great. Easy to dial in and make sure we hear everything. Great sound and price.

Works for me

By Sweetwater Customer on November 30, 2022

I
I really like the Eurolive monitor. I use two of them as mains in the small venue where I perform. And a third one as a floor monitor. For the money, this monitor delivers just fine for me.

Light Weight and Well Balanced Sound

By Buster from Fullerton, CA on April 21, 2021 Music Background: Singer/Songwriter since 1960’s

I bought one a while back, and was very impressed with the clean balanced sound and light weight because I'm getting too old to tote the big stuff. When I saw the reduced price, I had to get a 2nd one to have a stereo pair that makes an easy, light system along with a Yamaha compact mixer w/effects for small gigs when I play guitar thru a small amp and sing with my cajon playing drummer friend. We can mic everything to enhance the sound. Also, excellent monitors if we need the heavy system for large rooms.

Great Amplifier Floor Monitor

By Glen Cotant from San Diego, CA. on February 26, 2021 Music Background: Audio/Video Technician/Director

These floor monitors have performed very well in outdoor conditions. They are powered monitors, so until someone invents audio consoles with power over XLR, there needs to be additional power cords... Performance was fantastic... Unshielded cables for 25 feet or so will pick up noise that gets amplified. Volume controls for the performer to adjust are nice to take that away from mixing.

Perfect for singer/guitarists

By John Kammerer from Salt Lake City, UT on May 30, 2020 Music Background: singer/songwriter and guitarist who digs Prince

I play guitar and sing lead in a band and this is perfect. The direct out is ideal (you can control your volume without affecting what goes to the board) and it is plenty loud for as light and portable as it is.

Ethan, my Sweetwater rep, and Justin took EXCELLENT care of me on this and Sweetwater is the only way to go for gigging musicians who use this gear for shows and such and I could not be more impressed with the level of service Ethan provided.

Thanks for being awesome, Sweetwater! (~j in Utah, USA)

Nice sound at a good price

By Paul McGinness from New York on February 9, 2020

So I was using another Behringer personal monitor that mounted on a mic stand for a few years. After a show I managed to drop it on the floor and poof, no more monitor (my bad really). Well one of my guitar players decided he didn't want a mic stand based monitor and bought this one. AMAZING sound and power. It cuts right through the stage noise and its semi-small footprint doesn't get in the way. It's also a snap to set up. The only negative thing I can say is I wish it came with a cover or case. However, I found a great custom cover maker online and now it's perfect.

Outstanding Monitors!

By Bill Dutton from Oregon on November 3, 2019 Music Background: Gigging guitarist & worship guitarist for 40 years.

I bought a pair of these for my band. We gig a fair amount around town including outdoor venues...let me just say that for the money these monitors are fantastic. Light weight, big sound and they have proven durable and reliable. Our band is your typical arrangement of two guitars, bass, drums and two vocals, we use them with and without guitar amps (sometimes we have to go direct in) they sound great either way.

Great Monitors!

By Sweetwater Customer on July 6, 2019 Music Background: Guitarist/vocalist/sound guy

Just used these for two gigs and they sound great and work well, Small, light and plenty loud for most venues. The front controls and connections make them easy to set up and give each musician control over their monitor volume, tone and feed back issues. And an amazing value at the price.

Pretty good actually

By Calvin from North Carolina on June 28, 2019 Music Background: Soundman

I bought 3 of these as stage monitors and for the price they work great. I'm a soundguy and was aiming for a monitor loud enough for small venues <200 people. Any better stage monitor is going to be $700 or more assuming quality is what your after. I run hard rock shows, blues, jazz, pop, folk, country and haven't had a complaint from a musician yet. Buy em

Good clean volume

By RobertH from CA on June 6, 2019 Music Background: Child of the Sixties

I bought this unit for an alternate practice location. I paired it with a Mackie mixer and a mini tripod stand and it performs wonderfully. Any reviewer that says it is too quiet must be setting it up wrong. I had more than enough volume running from the mains out on the mixer to the line in on the speaker. I used a balanced 1/4" TRS to XLR cable. The clarity of sound is excellent as well. I will be buying a second one of these.

Seem Like Great Monitors

By David Perkins from Northridge, CA on April 8, 2019

Just got these, so I haven't tested them "in the field" but did a quick studio test and they sound great. They're rugged and look good as well. Nice low-profile wedge, not too cumbersome. Surprisingly compact for a 12" powered monitor. Will report back after some live gig testing.

Just as a side note: I bought the JBL EON610 bags to go with these since Behringer doesn't make a bag for them. The JBLs are almost a perfect fit and have great padding and strong handles. A nice match with these monitors.

I use as monitors but also good as front speakers for small gigs.

Great little monitor

By John Dziel from Pennsylvania on October 14, 2018 Music Background: 35+ years sound reinforcment (and singer)

As long as you set your expectations correctly and understand what monitors cost, this is a great little powered monitor! No, you can't use it if you're expecting to have double stacked Marshalls on the stage and a rock drummer. There are reasons why you can spend well over $1,000 on a monitor. But, if you are looking for a very reasonably priced monitor for an acoustic act, a small jazz group or a vocal ensemble, this is a great choice! Needless to say, as with most manufacturers, they play the "magic wattage" game. Still, the best way to judge this is by how it sounds in real life. The stand adapter allows it to be used as a mains PA. Same caution applies about price. Still, I work with a choir and we sometimes get crammed into a small location and use these to help boost our solos. For $... it's hard to beat!

GREAT MONITOR ! ! ! !

By Terry James from Michigan on October 10, 2018 Music Background: Played in bands since High school

My wife who is singing with a power house 80s band purchased this little guy to save room on the stage and was blown away with the sound. Great monitor....light weight....with easy access to controls. Loves it.

Doesn’t get any better

By Don Gravelyn from Texas on April 13, 2018 Music Background: Rock, alternative rock, metal

I originally bought this to use with my Line 6 Firehawk FX and it works great. High quality, great frequency response, high output. Having two separately controlled inputs makes (mic & line) this a great practice tool with my band or an extra monitor live.

Amazing sound from this floor monitor

By Leroy Wombles from Aiken, SC on April 10, 2018 Music Background: Church Bass Player

First time I played my bass out of this active monitor it was amazing. I was having a hard time hearing myself in church pa monitors. I talked to Chris at Sweetwater Music and he was very helpful in getting me in the right monitor that would work for me. I use a Mackie 8 channel mixer and feed my raw signal out of my DI box and then the other bass signal goes straight to the church PA system. I have no problem hearing my bass now.
Well pleased.

I needed some kind of monitor for my "One Man Show". This seem to have everything I needed. When I first plugged it in I wasn't very impressed, so I burned it in and now It sounds amazing! The first time I used it at a gig it dialed right in. I am now totally impressed.

I finally got a chance to use the Unit a few times since I purchased it. I was very impressed with the sound quality and power of this Speaker System. I'm very well satisfied with the output of the microphone, and the clean sound after hooking my computer to this System. I would give it a 5 Star.

Great Power, performance, size and price

By Larry from Canton, GA on October 6, 2015

I'm really happy and surprised with this monitor. Having the options to equalize is perfect for my set up. The power is very good without distortion. The size is also perfect, it's not heavy and doesn't take up alot of room on stage or in my vehicle. I can also get some pretty impressive depth from it.

Amazing speakers!

By Sweetwater Customer on August 30, 2015

The monitors were used by our choir to perform at a local nursing home. Even though the area was relatively large, the power was set less than the third indicator and it supplemented the new sound system. Clear, powerful, excellent value and investment for our church.

Perfect sound for keyboards but needs 1/4 inputs

By James Carter on April 27, 2020 Music Background: A playing guitarist since 1967 (pro and semi pro.)

It really sounds great. But needs guitar cable jacks as well. Then again the male mic xlr may be giving it its good sound and big signal.

Solid Stage Monitors for Smaller Venues

By Stacey G from ME on July 5, 2019 Music Background: Hobbyist Musician

This is a fairly good stage monitor, with average loudness and a variety of tone shaping variables. It doesn"t have phantom power, so even with a dynamic mic I would recommend a separate phantom power unit and a Cloudlifter or similar box to grab additional gain for vocals. The speaker is clear and direct, and perfect for use as a personal monitor with an acoustic-electric guitar or similar instruments. The truth is that there aren"t many options for stage monitors in this price range, and this unit will solve most of your needs.

Mity Fine

By Sweetwater Customer on December 19, 2018

I haven't used it on a gig yet but from using it for vocals and guitar it sounds real clean and punchy. I like the controls mounted on the front. I have it on a tripod stand next to my acoustic guitar amp and I have line out into it as well my vocals.
The price was nice and it's very compact.

Pretty good

By Steve from Langhorne Pa on July 13, 2018

Great addition! Small, compact and the 3 band equalizer is a plus. Very warm sound thanks to the 12 inch spkr.
These are great for a small to medium venue, I wouldnt expect too much if your band is outside and really crankin.
Currently being used inside a studio, but takin them to an outdoor gig in a couple weeks, will update this post.
Overall, excellent sound and great buy for the money.

F1220D

By Larry Brockway from Mesquite Texas on May 15, 2018 Music Background: Mandolin, guitar, banjo

This little Speaker puts out an incredible amount of sound for it's size. I only used 3/4 of it's power for a 50' by 30' room. I put 2 on speaker poles. My board was not topped out which left me extra head room for bring up the leads.

Mid-Level to Pro Perfection

By Bill from Newark, DE on February 18, 2018 Music Background: Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, Grunge

I play in a 90's rock cover band that desperately needed good monitors. After some digging around, I ordered 3 of these and let me tell you... They're perfect for both stage and rehearsal space. The EQ settings let you dial in exactly what you need for your own mix and it has more than enough power to push through on-stage sound. For rehearsals, we ditch out mains and pump the vocals through these and it's awesome. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is that if you're using cheap microphones, these will let you know it. The vocals will need some extra help from the mixer or the on-board EQ to punch through. That said, it's easy enough to finagle that. Awesome build quality (I stand on em at shows and they're not even dented) and an impressive price. I'd recommend these to anyone...and I would imagine they'd be good for some solo acoustic shows as well!

Monitors

By Pat Gleeson from California on September 3, 2017 Music Background: Vocalist/ Harmonica player

These Behringer monitors do exactly what I purchased them to do and more. They have enough power to give a great monitor sound on stage and we can use them with our 6 channel mixer in very small venues as a main and a monitor. Very pleased with my purchase.

Sounds great, extra input

By Evan from Very northwest U.S. on August 23, 2017

This monitor sounds great! 250 watts is plenty got my stage. Crisp and clean over (under) my loud as heck guitar player. I use the extra Mic in with a Mic on my own guitar cab so I can monitor my own sound without turning up stage volume.

Nice compact monitor!

By Sweetwater Customer on February 23, 2017

This fit the bill for what I needed! Very versatile, compact, and great sound!

Individual volumn is nice as a monitor

By David from Houston Area on December 7, 2016 Music Background: Long time player

This monitor was purchased to be used as a floor monitor during live performances, it is fantastic for that. It can also be used as a stand alone PA system if need be. Plenty of power and good controls. The shape is actually very useful for all kinds of applications. Sweetwater's Jeff Bohan was awesome suggesting these to go with my new StagePass i400. It matches just right!

Great Monitor

By Robb from Ga on July 29, 2015 Music Background: Playing out for 40 years

I play out in a classic rock type band. Just joined these guys and they're using all powered monitors ( I only had a passive one) took a chance on an opened box/returned one for 166. Not a scratch on it. It gets plenty loud. I'm at around a little more than half way up, I stand next to the drums, it sounds great. I also was suprised at how small and light it is. Bonus!

Excellent monitor value

By Patrick from Tennessee on July 16, 2015 Music Background: musician, sound engineer

I have five of these for acoustic music on stage monitoring. (Folk, Bluegrass, singer/songwriter, etc.) Easy to carry, easy to set up. Wonderful volume and eq control for slight individual adjustment by the on stage musician. I have read of others having thermal issues and decreased volume levels after long term use. I have had no such issues. I do not drive these hard due to the style of music that I am generally setting up sound for. I use these in conjunction with an XR-18 Air and love the set up. Sweetwater always delivers with the best service in the industry. If you use these monitors for the proper setting, (not trying to use them in a very loud stage environment) you will be very pleased with the sound and ease of use.

Look closely

By Sweetwater Customer on February 3, 2023

I didn't look close enough, and took it for granted there would be 1/4 in jack inputs. If you are accustomed to old style pa, you need balanced XLR.
Nice clean sound, I would buy again.

Solid Stage Monitor with Few Frills

By Stacey G from Portland, Maine on April 1, 2019 Music Background: Music hobbyist and home studio enthusiast

This is a solid, well made stage monitor for light to moderate duty. Home studios, jazz clubs, speaking engagements: this would be terrific for those uses. It"s not as loud as I would have liked, but the sound is relatively clear and direct, and the angle of the cabinet works well. The handles make it easy to lift and move, and it"s sturdily constricted. It does not have 48v phantom power, and even with dynamic mics I like to use a cloudlifter or similar power bump for microphones which require 48v phantom power to operate. Overall, this is a nice unit that will work in many locales.

Very useful monitor

By Joe McConaghy from Naples, Florida on March 26, 2019 Music Background: Keyboards, vocals

This is a useful piece of gear. It has a nice 12 inch speaker to give you a good base response and a 3" tweeter. Although it"s not super powerful, watt wise, the 250 W bi amp power is very sufficient for a monitor that will be set up so close to you on stage. It has it"s own 3 band eq which is very useful to dial in your sound. It is well made and even though it has plywood construction, it"s only a bit over 20 pounds. Often I show up on gigs that have PA systems provided by the band leaders, etc., but I have this monitor in my car in case I have any problem hearing what"s going on. The feedback filter is a nice feature to have, although I have not had to use it yet. In a pinch, you can put this on a speaker stand to use as a small venue main speaker. This monitor will not disappoint you for most gigs... it"s a great value.

Great value

By Tom from Virginia on March 12, 2019 Music Background: Exensive experience with rock bands.

Don't expect the sound of Yamaha or Bose but if you want high quality sound and plenty of power this is the choice. We use them as stage monitors and they work flawlessly in that capacity. I already had one and after owning it care free for several years, bought another. Light weight (relatively speaking) and durable. Very happy with mine.

Good enough and light weight

By Felice from Raleigh, NC on June 2, 2018 Music Background: 35 years live performer

This is not super loud. If you need that, work on your stage volume. I bought it as a monitor for my acoustic duo, but it turns out to work great for the full band too. It has the controls easy to reach and the sound is good(not great). The angle is great for small stages. However, last night I used it upside down so the angle of the monitor could be set out front and cover two of us more easily. Worked perfect.
The weak parts- *I don't like having the power and input cables attach in front with the controls.
*Not sure the feedback protection works.
*I would rather have a switch than two separate inputs and volume controls for mic and line. I guess that is for practice or coffeeshop set up. What are the chances your guitar and vocals need the same eq though?

Lightweight and perfect for the purpose

By Luis Manuel from Boynton Beach on March 5, 2018 Music Background: Internationally awarded Latin Singer

I am against to carry so many things to a gig, I have 4 IEM because most of the shows I do are wirh 2-4 musicians... but they don"t like to use them, then after a few minutes I use to see the receivers around the mixer"s table with no use. Decided to buy then a pair of these floor monitors to resolve the problem specially with the percussionists. Now the pros and cons.
Pros:
Lightweight and seem to be robust.
Easy to operate because the panel, on/off switch and even power cable are in the front. Any musician can set its own volume and eq.

Cons:
Power, is not really 250W, they are probably ~100 or 120W. Remember that manufacturers put the max power and what we hear is the RMS, as an electronics tech I can assure that its total power
Sometimes we have a big crowd and need more volume, specially with our Latin band, a big audience (more than 300 people) with salsa music is very loud and these monitors look that they are turned off compared with the FOH.

Do Not Be Affraid...

By Eric_K from Northern Minnesota on August 30, 2017 Music Background: Working Guitarist

I've never been a huge fan of Behringer gear, but it seems that the company has been taking steps to improve its reputation, and I appreciate that. Though initially hesitant to purchase this unit, I've been quite pleased with it. It's durable, portable, easily adaptable, and it has been a perfect monitor for my acoustic duo providing us with clean and well-separated amplification of our two vocals / two guitars monitor channel. I have only two minor complaints about this unit. First, when you turn it up, there is a bit of noise - not a lot, but it's there - and second, it accepts only an XLR input. I'd give it 5 stars if it had a 1/4" connector as an additional input, but it's nothing that a cheap D.I. box can't solve. It's loud enough for my chosen applications and has even performed well as the monitor for the drummer in a 4 piece rock 'n roll bar band, but I can imagine it might be slightly underpowered if you're thrashing out with high stage volumes. I was pleased enough with this monitor to buy another, and a great thing about Sweetwater is that if you don't like a particular product, returns and exchanges are quick and easy.

Excellent Monitor

By Brandon P from Newport News, VA on July 26, 2017 Music Background: Singer/songwriter

I bought this to go along with my pa for a small farmer's market gig. The ability to hear myself onstage either makes or breaks a show, so it was a crucial investment.

The reason I went with this wedge over others is the front panel layout of controls. I knew I'd need to be able to actually monitor the monitor for feedback issues, and this gear did not disappoint.

It is also very lightweight but powerful!

Beefy Sound, Awesome Job

By Kenny from Corning, NY on July 17, 2016

I had 3 of the 1220A, one blew up after years of abuse so I needed to replace it, I chose the 1220D okay so my first thought when I seen the box was what the h**&, it way smaller than the 1220 A's guess I didn't read the size specs, I opened the box and pulled out the monitor hooked up the whole system in my home, subs and all and tried it out. I was very surprised at how loud this little monitor would go. The next gig was coming soon so I obviously tried it out, I should mention here that we are a Classic Country to Southern Rock style band and we are by no means really quiet. I digress, back to the monitor, It was very strong, worked flawlessly. I am very happy with the build, looks, and power, 2 things I don't like about it, No 1/4 inch jacks & when hooking up in the middle of a chain of monitors for some reason it controls the volume of the next monitor, I have to use the 1220D at the end of the chain.

just what we needed

By Ronald Kowalewski Jr from NY on June 20, 2016 Music Background: Bandleader/ Accordionist/ singer

Lightweight, big sound these Behringer powered monitors deliver. 6 pc Zydeco band we bought 2, i could use another one for the drummer. We try to keep a low stage volume so they dont have to work that hard, but we just did 2 outdoor gigs and they performed well..

Great Monitor

By John from NY on September 2, 2015 Music Background: working musician

I was blown away at the sound and quality of this little monitor. I've even used it for small solo gigs as a main. The only drawback is that it only has XLR input/outputs. I don't understand why they couldn't put a XLR combo jack in. Or just use a 1/4 inch. After all, most anyone using this is going to have a mixer with a 1/4 inch monitor output. That's the only reason it doesn't get 5 stars from me.

Works as hoped in the practice studio.

So far it works as hoped. It will be used as a monitor in a small outdoor event in 2 months. I'll know more then. But so far this is how it stacks up for me.

PRO's -- Since I have no EQ on the monitor channel I chose the F1220D because it has the feedback filter and the controls and inputs are on the front. In spite of knowing the dimensions ahead of time it is surprisingly small and light.
Suggested upgrades -- It would be a much better product if .... 1. it was equipped with combi inputs .... 2. it had a switch to to turn the feedback filter off when not needed.

Good Enough

By Joseph Felice from Raleigh, NC on March 7, 2018 Music Background: 35 years public performance

It's inexpensive. This doesn't compare with QSC, JBL, Mackie, etc. I don't believe it's meant to. It costs a fraction of any of those. It does a good job of putting the FOH mix in your face if you don't have a high level of stage noise. Even Behringer makes more powerful monitors for people who like to damage their hearing on stage. A solo act with guitar and vocals could use this straight alone for a small gig. it has a pole adapter and projects well. I bought this for an acoustic duo with two vocals, bass and guitar. It has an eq on it so you can run a line straight from your mixer's aux line out without external eq if your board doesn't have one for monitors. It can link to other monitors, but the EQ does effect the link out signal. That is a weakness unless you have a regular powered speaker as the second monitor and are willing to have the same EQ on both. If that is the case, all you have to do is put this one first in the chain and both speakers are great. You could go with this later in the chain too if you can find the right mix. Either way, this is good. I will use it for practice as well. Bass response is good. I'm the upright and bass guitarist in the Luther Vaudeville duo and we play a variety of music from Jazz, Rock, Country, Blues and Bluegrass so I need the bass sound strong. I rated it by Sweetwater's scale which says 3.5 is good. If you want better, you'll have to pay much more. This is better sounding than monitors I tried that are twice as much.

Not just plug and play

By Sweetwater Customer on March 20, 2024

I am not a professional sound tech. Just a volunteer at a small church. I ordered two of these to replace one large monitor that was taking up too much stage space. It has taken quite a bit of "tuning" to get them to sound good. One singer still complains about it.

Good sound, but has a catch to be aware of...

By Marshall from California on July 10, 2017 Music Background: Hobbiest, plays in an amateur cover band

Gotta give these monitors their proper kudos. They sound good, plenty of power for my acoustic band. They are not too big or heavy. What's not to like? Well.... There is one thing. When you daisy chain them together, the MIX OUT of the first one is driven up/down by the LEVEL control.

Why is this bad? Everything downstream from the first Behringer monitor is affected by the LEVEL control of the first Behringer monitor. This kind of sucks because you cannot independently set the monitor levels, you have to work your way down the chain. I dislike the fact that when the monitor upstream from mine gets adjusted for whatever reason, I have to then adjust mine lower or higher to get it back to where it was.

Our Mackie SRM150 just has a THRU line so that the monitors downstream get the same line level from the mixer and can be adjusted independently. Given what I now know, I probably would have purchased another couple of Mackie SRM150s. But, we can make the Behringers work.

Other than that, the monitor is fine.

very happy with this item perfect for my studio

250 watts ?

By Sweetwater Customer on June 29, 2017

The sound quality was about what I expected it would be but they seriously lack power , even for a single 12" speaker. 250 watts ..,,,,really ? I can only imagine that this would be a cool powered monitor if your neighbor owned it and you hated his musical preferences. You can almost carry on a normal conversation while standing in front of it with the output on ten.
So , out I go hunting for another powered monitor.
However , Sweetwater staff was nice and very helpful .

Stopped working but repair would cost more than the unit.

By Sweetwater Customer on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Professional Theater Technical Director

Bought two. One is still OK, fingers crossed. With very limited use, no more than two or three times, the other stopped producing sound. Turned up all of the way you can barely hear it- mic-in or line-in. But after not using the speaker for a while, now the mic-input is always up to 11 and volume control does nothing, but line-in is always still barely audible? So it is not very useful at all, but repair would cost more than the speaker.

Eurolive F122D 250W 12 in floor Monitor

By Greg from Louisville, Ky on March 15, 2023 Music Background: 30 years guitar and vocals

Product arrived quickly and worked as it should. They are just underpowered for a 4 piece rock band. These would be perfect for an acoustic duo or trio. The only other thing I was very disappointed with was when they are hooked up in a series, the first one in the chain is what controls the rest. So it was a great signal with the first, not so much in the second and difficult to hear in the third of the series. Would be fine if each speaker is hooked into it's own output from the mixer I think, or a splitter so that each speaker had it's own volume control. Overall, not a bad product.

Not for everyone

By Sweetwater Customer from IA on July 8, 2022

they have no power. With a full band, you can't hear them; basically useless. These would be fine in an acoustic, karaoke, or a solo artist environment. Do not use these on a stage with a full band, you won't be able to hear them. Also, you can't daisy chain them, which is an obvious problem.

Not Enough Power

By Andrew Kaplan from Maitland, FL on May 5, 2022

Bought these to use a two stage monitors. They are vastly under powered.Had to upgrade to QSC's.

Not for rock bands.

By Sweetwater Customer on May 9, 2018

Fine for small venue, acoustic gigs. But if you have drums or electric guitars these speakers will not work well as monitors.

Not really

By braunie on August 5, 2019 Music Background: Live sound

Bought few of these few years ago as a back-up. Never had a need to use them in real live situation - which actually was a blessing...monitors I have were bought couple of years ago and stored in clean, stable conditions inside. When I got them I just briefly tested them at home to see they are working. Next time I used them at "home karaoke" and noticed exactly the same problem than the other user in here: after few minutes of use monitors started to lose their power. Well, like said I really did not need them and as they were cheap I did not want to go through all the hassle with returning them (bought those on-line from different country).

For some reason I took those monitors few days ago out as I wanted to see if I can do anything with them. I hooked those to my mixer and fed white noise to them. I set mixer master output to -12dB and increased monitor preamp gain until sound pressure measured 1 meter away from monitors registered 85 db and started stopwatch. Without doing anything after 5 minutes measurement was 80 db. After 10 minutes 78,5 db. 15 minutes 77 db. 20 minutes 76 db. 25, 30 and 35 minutes 76 db.

So, it looks like when monitors are heating volume keeps dropping down until a stable state is reached - which looks to be roughly 25 minutes. During that time 9 db were lost. Which is roughly equal to 87,5% loss of power.

After 35 minutes I increased mixer output to compensate lost 9 db. For next 30 minutes I was continously reading stable 85 db.

So, somehow these monitors could be used after they have heated to "running" temperature. But with minor additional money you could buy something more reliable.

Very VERY poor fidelity

By Sweetwater Customer on July 15, 2018

I know this is cheap. But it sounds cheap. Really
Cheap. So bad that, in a loud venue with 85dB of ambient background noise you can still get how boxy and awful it sounds.

I think it"s made to take your mic and then send it elsewhere? How can you explain the lack of 1/4 inputs?

Here"s my humble suggestion: the latest generation of powered PAs are made to work as floor monitors as well. Get one of those instead. Spend the extra money. Avoid this at all costs.

250 watts, on what planet?

By James Flaherty from WA on May 11, 2018

When I purchased this monitor, I was hesitant because it was a Behringer - and I should have listened to my gut.

First off, that fuzzy carpet cover (ugh). Seriously? Who does this in 2018?

Secondly, I have to crank the thing all the way up just to get it loud enough for performers to hear it over the mains which are 15 feet away from the stage on either side IN FRONT of the stage.

Thirdly, the sound quality doesn't cut it. This model sounds like one of those Kraiko speakers we had in our cars in the 70's. Zero fidelity and NO punch whatsoever.

Sorry, but for the money - this thing is a total loss for me.

Total junk

By gridlach from Ohio on January 12, 2024 Music Background: Keyboard improv

I used F1220Ds for live shows for five years - they were provided by my employer. They were everything the negative reviews say they are: muddy-sounding, prone to experiencing power and volume loss mid-set, strangely high audio latency. And I don't even push much volume through them. Both wedges I used had these issues. They're really the complete package.

I'm temporarily replacing them with ancient Yorkville 50W keyboard wedges until I find something better. At a fith the nameplate wattage, the Yorkvilles sound clearer, more detailed, and louder. I'm kicking myself that I put up with the F1220Ds for so long.

Delay Issue

By Doug Price from Salem, VA on August 16, 2023

Upon getting these connected for use as monitors there was an immediately noticeable delay in the signal. We have no processing on this aux send and we have previously used monitors without issue on the same output. The only cause we could come up with was the on-board Behringer processing was leading to the delay.

In addition to this we run our aux out at mic level but when we connected the speakers on the mic input there was an audible white noise at every level above zero. We had to use the line input on the Behringer to work around this issue which did resolve the white noise.

Doesn't feel like this speaker should even be on the market based the many other reviews I've now read. Guess I should have done that before ordering them. These are being returned to Sweetwater. Looking at the Mackie Thrash now.

These are trash

By Sweetwater Customer on November 19, 2020

They didn't work at first, after some tweaking, they worked a little bit, and then they feedback so much we can't use them. Straight garbage. Just don't.

Boooo

By Sweetwater Customer from Georgia on August 23, 2019 Music Background: Gigging musician

Research before you buy!!! Very muted sound unless you have everything turned up to full . They need to add more power and put a higher quality Hi , mine blew, Had to send it back ($48shipment) took a few weeks... got it back....still peaks out on a relatively medium setting, getting rid of it.

Underpowered

By Sweetwater Customer on December 10, 2015

Dull sounding and underpowered. Not up to the task for classic rock cover band. I realize you get what ypu pay for and they are certainly low priced.

Thermal issue

By Rick from Wilmington De. on July 7, 2015 Music Background: guitar player, jazz/rock, 40years. Also years of experience with live sound.

The Behringer F1220D is small and light weight, and sounds great.... when there working. I bought 4 of them from Sweetwater a couple of months ago. They all had the same issue.Once they get to a certain temperature the volume starts to diminish...a lot. So I sent them back. They sent me four more. I only unboxed one of them to try it and sure enough it has the same problem, it sounds great for about ten minutes, and then somehow the volume is cut in half. The guy that does my tech work here in De is convinced it is a power amp issue. These monitors are not vented or ported, so they get no ventilation. Sounds like a design flaw to me.

I liked the size, features, and sound so much that I took a chance and re ordered a third set (thinking maybe 3 is a charm).Well guess what....same issue. In my opinion this product should be taken off the shelf. At the very least there is a quality control issue. I have other Berhinger products that I am very happy with and have served me well, but the F1220D needs to go back to the drawing board.

On the bright side, to spite all of the aggravation, the guys at Sweetwater were reasonable and accommodating throughout this process. They paid for all the shipping charges both ways, and clearly there desire is for the satisfied customer. I cannot recommend this product, but will recommend Sweetwater as an outstanding Musical equipment supplier.

Bummer Speakers

By Sweetwater Customer on June 11, 2015 Music Background: 37 years in audio

Bought 6 of these with my XAir XR18. Great size, My PA fit in my Toyota Corolla. Beautiful little monitor. Only had one small problem... Not enough sound to hear them when used as a stage monitor. Did 3 gigs and they only were acceptable at the acoustic set outdoors. As soon as the drums, guitars, keyboards and sax started to play, you couldn't hear the monitors.
Ended up returning them. Too bad, a great idea. replaced with a pair of VP1220d and my lead singer loves me again
