TC Electronic Eyemaster Metal Distortion Pedal Reviews
It's loud. It's brutal. It's ready to turn your rig into a death metal machine. Paying homage to death metal royals like Entombed and Dismember, the TC Electronic Eyemaster is a distortion stompbox designed to conjure the monumental sound of the genre's Swedish origins in the '90s. With its simple 2-knob design, the Eyemaster lets you focus solely on the Gain and Volume, which are capable of dialing in everything from tamer levels of distortion to an unyielding onslaught of aggressive tone. Plus, the Eyemaster's perfectly dialed-in death metal EQ will make you forget that the knobs aren't even there, meaning this pedal is playable right out of the box. Plug in, turn up, and take a riff-heavy journey into the dark forests of Scandinavia with the TC Electronic Eyemaster available at Sweetwater!

Amazing Gain
This is the most distorted distortion pedal I've ever plugged in. Other distortion pedals have always left me wishing for just a little bit more. Not this guy.
Its awesome. Its simple. It's got a great tone, because it has no tone knob. It gives you nothing but over modulated joy and leave the tone to your eq.
I love it.
HM-2 Never met her...
This is your one stop shop for that heavy chainsaw sound and for a price that makes it easy to obtain. The case is built like a ***** tank so nothing to worry about there. No plastic cases here folks. I'm not counting this as a negative although some might think it is; you need to spend some time with this pedal to integrate it into your rig. As weird as it sounds I run it with the volume all the way up and the gain all the way down. Don't worry, the chainsaw is still clipping the signal. This will help minimize excess noise if you don't have a noise gate. This pedal can be a real noise machine, exactly like the original so prepare accordingly. Also, this monster does one thing, and it does it perfectly. Don't expect a huge level of variations of distortion. It's the CHAINSAW. I couldn't be happier with this beast. TC Electronic knocks it out of the park.
Amazing!!!
I was looking for a good Swedish Death Metal chainsaw pedal but didn't want to pay $ for it. It was everything I was hoping for and more! Literally the best $ pedal I've ever bought!
Brutal & Fun
This pedal is becoming harder and harder to find. Not many places carry it. Just happened to check Sweetwater and they finally had em. This pedal is so worth $. It's not an exact HM-2 but it's brilliant in its own way. Fantastic with low tunings. Just out right addicting to play. This pedal is so heavy and solid, you could end a dinosaur with it. Love the Entombed tribute. Grab one as soon as you can before they disappear for months again.
Better than the Original
This Clone of the Boss Heavy Metal hm-2 is the best two knobs cranked them up or look for you favorie tone recomend it for everyone looking for the Legendary Swedish chainsaw death Metal Tone
Good Tone for Dark Music
I bought the eyemaster and have run it in front of my tsl60, my mesa dc3, and my vengeance 120, and also for my bas in front of an ampeg pf500 and a tcelectronics bg250 toneprint … I have gotten very good results every time. It stacks well with other overdrives and distortions, I have run it with very good results behing a metal m*ff and it screamed, also a blues driver and even with a six band eq/boost it has the black metal thing down perfect… it does far more than just old school, too, I am a fan of LiK and when I stack these pedals I can even get close to that sound.
Highly recommended. For the money, you couldn't beat this with a baseball bat.
Another big surprise from TC
Once again underestimated TC Electronic big time. Grabbed my Eyemaster almost as a novelty because of the Entombed reference/aesthetic but as it turns out it sounds great. Not just great for the price either. Killer pedal. To my ear it's voiced right in the middle of the "Made in Japan" and the "Made in Taiwan" HM-2 sounds but with a little more scaleability on the volume than the original has before losing its character. This pedal is a PERFECT, affordable way to add a useable "chain saw" sound to your arsenal or the ideal on stage stand-in for your expensive vintage Boss pedals.
SWEET SOUND OF MAYHEM!
This inexpensive metal pedal has serious attitude, especially if you tune down. I love it! In addition to using it by itself, I've also been combining it with preset sounds on my amp for that punch that makes everything else sound so good. I highly recommend this "For those about to rock!" See what I did there??
You're Using It Wrong
This pedal is amazing and it is inexpensive. Yes, it is a one-trick-pony but it does it so well. I think the people that say this pedal is noisy are using it wrong. The Eyemaster pedal is dead quite but you need to run this pedal into your clean channel. I used my Mesa Triple Rec and first ran the pedal into the Third Channel (Red) with the gain at about 11 o'clock. The result was INSANE distortion and it was noisy. In addition, it lacked definition. I decided to run it into the clean (green) channel and that is when the magic happened. I kept everything at 12 o'clock including the gain and the result was instant Entombed with all the grind and definition in the notes. It was night and day. And on top of it the strings become touch sensitive so if you hit notes lightly there isn't as much gain but if you punch the strings you and dig in a bit you are sounding like The Left Hand Path. The tone is spot on and it is dead quiet. So DO NOT run this pedal into a high gain channel. The result is a mess. Want to sound like Entombed? Buy this pedal and run it into your clean channel and you will have Wolverine Blues at your fingertips. I can't recommend this pedal enough.
One trick pony
If you're even considering buying this, you know what it is and it does it well.
One of my favorite chainsaws
You cannot beat the price ($ for real?!), the construction (it's built like a freaking tank), the tone (practically sounds identical to my MIJ HM2), and the simplicity (who DOESN'T leave their EQ dimed?!)
Highly recommend
Expect HEAVY
This pedal is definitely for the extreme tone. Expect nothing less. It is a one trick pony, but does exactly as intended.
A Swedish Chainsaw Masterpiece.
This pedal has the EQ settings of a maxed out Boss HM-2. I hooked it up with a Behringer Heavy Metal HM-2 clone & it was dead on accurate. Side by side there was absolutely no audible difference to a maxed out HM-2. I'm super late to the party but I finally understand what everyone says about getting that Swedish chainsaw sound from these types of distortion pedals. It's not personally my sound at all, (I'm a Rat user for drone doom metal & Marshall in a box style pedals like the MXR FOD drive for my hardcore / worship music) but it's pretty awesome to have another different sound in my arsenal. I'm still a firm believer that the Boss Hyper Metal HM-3 is way better than the HM-2 & I'm only giving this pedal 4 stars because of the pure size of it & the top mounted jacks are a bit inconvenient. This pedal is too large, but it is built like a tank & I really love the look of it. The knobs are super awesome as well & have never seen them before.
Still doesn’t beat my cheaper distortion :/
This is a great pedal for heavy mids and lead sounds but I was really expecting to be able to get into that 'nasty' amount of distortion if you know what I mean. Some will lol. Not bad at all but not what I was hoping.
