Ovation TX mod super shallow black
I have wanted an ovation for 40 years. I always loved the shape sound and construction but the price for what I wanted and expected for the price I was willing to pay was out of alignment. Then the company sold. Oh boy. There went my dreams hopes and aspirations.
Well they were bought by the GHS string company
( love boomers) but still out of alignment.
Now with a renewed focus ,light and direction, they are back.
The TX mod super shallow has projection and great high end treble even though the sound holes are bass aligned.
I spent for the plek. The tech took 2 shims out and I also replaced nut with bone nut.
Dispite wanting 3+3 strings I stayed with the 4+ 2 because there was a great reason. The G and B strings on any acoustic especially this one are more sonically in line with each other as a 4 wrap. Great advice straight from the ovation company via email.
The sustain is unbelievable (plek and nut) but also stays in tune thanks to on board tuner 9v. Effortlessly checking after warming them up.
Volume is controllable and amp behind my stage line is more enhancing to me. Because I feel the music. Even at a low volume.
Microphoning my amp either XLR out or front micing is also clear and notes are separated distinguishable from chords.
The sound reverberates through my body and makes me part of the music. I feel it in my bones.
Case is a must and worth it. Humidity is an issue I was told to take seriously (and did ) because of travel.
I love it.
I'm very happy with this guitar. It's not only beautiful to look at, but it plays like butter and sounds amazing. Thank you, Ian and Sweetwater!
Ovation Elite TX Super Shallow
I have had my new Elite TX about 2 weeks now and am really satisfied! I am a retired still performing musician, and have been playing Ovations since 1969. This guitar rates up there with my 1985 Collectors Edition that was stolen recently. I love the the black textured finish also, no finger prints! The sound plugged in is about the same as a mid-bowl, very full sounding. The neck is perfect for my playing styles, classic R&R, blues, country, jazz, and contemporary, quite versatile guitar. As a side point, my girlfriend says it's sexy! Also thanks to Dave Brow for all his help, he's very smart, and thorough. My guitar got here on time in great condition, and was set up nicely. Thanks Sweetwater, another one out of the park!

Just received my new Elite TX today and all I can say is WOW this guitar rocks.
If looks could kill I would be dead it is a looker for sure. The neck and action are as close to an electric than any acoustic I have ever played. Unplugged playing is very pleasing to the ear but plug this bad boy in and lookout.
I highly recommend this guitar!

Quality build, unique, & Worth the money!
Guitar is super light, obviously cool looking, plays incredibly well right out of the box, holds a tune very well, preamp and tuner are super nice and this guitar sounds excellent plugged in and I was shocked how loud it was acoustically as a shallow bowl Ovation. I'll never part ways with this guitar! So unique and niche but any acoustic player would be surprised what you get for $. Plays so smooth and the fretboard and playability is "tight"! Intonation is perfect and the high register feels like an electric. Love this guitar!
