Elixir Strings 12050 Polyweb Electric Guitar Strings - .010-.046 Light Reviews

.010-.046 Polyweb Light Gauge Electric Guitar Strings

Elixir Strings with the Polyweb coating have the tone and punch of non-coated strings, and they feel like traditional strings too. The ultra-thin Polyweb coating keeps these strings sounding fresh and new for a lot longer than conventional strings. The Polyweb coating cuts down on finger squeak while reducing the bite of the strings on your fingers. They have a mellow and warm tone, and maintain their original sound and feel longer than most strings. If you want to get the most out of your guitar, grab a set of Elixir Electric Polyweb strings!

New Favorite Strings

By Shemp from Kent, OH on April 22, 2024

I've been a guitar player for over thirty years. Mostly Gibsons along with my trusty Telecaster.
I had played Ernie Balls up until a few months ago, when a friend recommended these, as I was complaining about having to change strings so often.
Wow, these Elixirs not only sound great, but they feel really smooth and last a LOOOOONG time.
So, if you're not a fan of changing strings every few weeks, give these a try.
They're now the only string I'll buy.

Just as awesome as the Nanowebs

By Christopher Sawyer from RICHMOND, VA on November 25, 2021 Music Background: Guitaring for many moons with no plans to stop anytime soon

Got a set of these just to see if there is a difference between them and the Nanowebs. The package says "warm" sounding, which made me scared to try them, thinking they might be muddy... WRONG. They are anything but. And I don't know that they sound warm at all. They sound amazing I know that much. If you are put off by the words on the package, try em out and see for yourself. There are 6 of them and not a single one sounds less than stellar. They are different than the nanos, but I can't really put my finger on the way to describe it other than to say "warm" isn't it. They are great strings. If you like to play using great strings, then get some of these and you'll 100% there.

I seek these out before settling for others, I love them

By Aaron L from central MI on January 27, 2021 Music Background: Non-pro, playing 30+ yrs, garage band

Everyone has a favorite string and just like opinions on guitars or the music they play, strings can be a personal, sometimes touchy, topic. Well, I don't care who hates Elixirs, or why- those people are not me. These things are AWESOME. I only have to change my strings 1-2x a year. Instead of roughly monthly as with other standard strings. They are so slinky and slippery feeling and the unwound strings stay that way for a long time. The only place you'll notice their 'sound' is on an acoustic and I can describe it as a touch nasally on an acoustic, but that depends on your guitar too. I like the way they sound, and when you're strumming and singing with friends or on stage no one notices your strings except you, the one playing. Anyway, I put these on all 5 of my in-use guitars and I try to keep 1 or 2 sets on hand at all times.

Longtime Favorite

By Art H. from Red Bank, NJ on August 22, 2017

These (POLYWEBS) are the BEST guitar strings in my opinion, but most people will either love them or hate them. I don't get it, but there are players out there who do not like a coated string... These sound like new strings indefinitely. I play gigs regularly in a cover band and I can leave these on for MONTHS without needing to change them. I used to use Ernie Ball Slinky which are good strings but I would change them every 1-2 gigs.... I have not experienced much breakage, at least no more than with other brands. I have Floyd Rose systems on all my guitars so I can "salvage" a string if it breaks at the bridge. I use elixir poly webs on all my electric and acoustic guitars. I even have them on my bass and my mandolin! Simply the best!

smooth

By Ray from Friendsville,Pa. on August 2, 2016

I think all elixirs are awesome for both their playability and longevity. These polywebs play buttery smooth on my Epi L.P. I haven't yet tried nanowebs on my electric, so I can't compare them. But I've used polywebs on my acoustic guitars for years, so I knew what to expect, and have not been disappointed. They play and sound great, and I know from experience that they will last a long time. Had a little issue with the most recent package of these strings (no fault of Sweetwater), and I have read a lot of reviews of how good Sweetwater's customer service is.I'd just like to say that these guys are fantastic! You'd think that they were resolving an issue for someone who just spent thousands of dollars, not just a few bucks on a couple of sets of strings! They went above and way beyond to remedy my situation. Products can be bought anywhere, but top notch customer service like Sweetwater's can only be found by people who genuinely care. Thanks again guys!

I use this Polyweb strings for my gigs, i play 3 or more days a week and they sound fantstic and last longer than any other strings!
I also use the Nanoweb for studio and practice, they are simply the best!
I have to mention that I have tryed allmost all brands, but the real good deal are the Elixirs by far!

Love the polyweb strings

By T Farrand from PHL on June 19, 2019

I have played the 10-46 polywebs on my strat for a year or so, and am very happy with them. They do hold their tone a bit longer than uncoated strings and I like the slick feel of them. I have not detected a deterioration in tone after switching - love them.

work great

By Jason from Virginia on November 28, 2017

A great set of strings. Warm and balanced like advertised. Bought them for the reduction of fret noise while playing and they do make a difference. I also use Elixir on my Taylor, and those are great too. Seem to last a good while so for the money I have mo complaints.

BREAK 3-5X EASIER THAN NORMAL STRINGS

By Peter from Michigan on August 29, 2015 Music Background: Blues guitarist

I just bought 8 sets of elixirs thinking that I would be able to use these strings for a longer period of time over normal strings... what I have found is the high E and B strings break easier than any other string I have ever used, in the last month I have already gone through 5 of the 8 sets. Waste of my money. I'll go back to d'addario and eliminate the breakage. BTW for those that are wondering this has happened on three different guitars. Before I hardly ever broke strings....
