If you want to keep your guitar tone consistently great day in and day out, put on a set of Elixir Electric Nanoweb strings. Their coating actually cuts down on unnecessary finger friction. The best strings I've ever used!

By Keith Sizemore from Dayton, OH on January 31, 2024 Music Background: 41 years of playing the axe.

That's no hyperbole! I used to religiously use Ernie Ball Slinky 10 gauge. I saw these and read about them staying fresh for a long time, so I decided to check them out and see, because after about 3 months with the Ernie's I would have to change them, because they would just become dull and lifeless. I've had these strings on for about 3 months now, and they still sound as fresh as when I put them on! It's definitely worth the extra dough to buy these. I'll definitely get these from now on, because the price will even out to the Ernie's.

Best Strings I've Ever Used

By Shemp Howard from Akron on October 24, 2023 Music Background: Guitar, and lots of it.

Iam a former Ernie Ball player and I normally don't enjoy changing strings, I used to let my strings get pretty nasty before I broke down and changed them.
I stumbled onto these Elixers about a year ago at my local music shop and figured I'd give them a try.
What a difference!
I absolutely love the feel of them, the tone is fantastic (I'm an Epiphone Les Paul player) and they'll easily feel fresh for months. All three of my guitars are now strung with Elixirs. They're well worth the extra couple bucks.
If you haven't tried them yet, you deserve to give them a shot.

What's better?

By Pete from Spencer, MA on June 16, 2022 Music Background: Original nice guy

I can't say anything bad about these strings they sound great, feel great, stay in tune and last. I have always used Dadarrio xl's and they always stay in tune and never break on me they are great strings but since I tried these a couple yrs ago I'm having a hard time going back and for those unfortunate ones who got a bad batch I would say try them again it was a fluke it can happen with any brand

Revised Review

By Jeff Bailey from Humble, TX on April 19, 2022

I didn't see a way to revise a review. I gave a bad review, because while I love Elixir strings, I had got shorted a g string in a pack that I had bought. Jared Spindler, company representative par excellance called to check on a different order, spoke to my wife who mentioned the string, and replaced the set without my asking for it or knowing about it until a few days later. I had just written it off as too much trouble to bother returning. In any case, probably the best customer service of ANY online business that I've dealt with in years. I'm definitely a dedicated customer, but now even more so. Great job.

Best strings out there!!

By Christopher Sawyer from RICHMOND, VA on November 25, 2021 Music Background: Guitaring for many moons with no plans on stopping anytime soon

I never thought I would change from using Ernie Balls, but not long ago I got a set of Elixirs on sale just to see what all the high pricing was about. I fully expected to put them on my guitar and immediately decide that they were overpriced for no reason whatsoever... Was I ever wrong!! That set of strings weren't just good, they changed my guitar playing forever. The coating makes sliding up and down the neck effortless, but even better, it makes it loads quieter than with regular strings. My thought process before trying them was that coated strings must certainly have a dull sound, but I was dead wrong in that assumption as well. These are the brightest and most dynamic strings I've ever played with, and they sound amazing, and they stay sounding amazing. I'M OCD AF so I still change them at too regular of an interval, because I can't not, but I'm sure I could leave them on for 2 or 3 months rather than one and they would still sound amazing. If you have wondered about these strings too, do yourself a favor and take your usual strings out of the cart (because after you put the Elixirs on, you WILL NOT be changing back) and grab a set of Elixirs instead. It will be the best thing you've done for your guitar and your playing in a long time.

Long-time user

By Andrew R Aragon from CA on August 22, 2021

Been using these strings for a long time. Always been really pleased with how they feel, sound, and how long they stay feeling clean and new. They feel a little beefier than normal strings, so don't be afraid to go a little lighter than usual.

These strings work great for me. I'm a new guitarist but so far they've been fine for me.

I bought a Taylor acoustic a few years back and noticed that the strings would not die. This went on for months and I couldn't believe it. After almost a year I finally noticed them dying so when it came time to replace them I contacted Sweetwater and asked them what kind of strings came with the guitar. It was the Elixers. Needless to say I now have Elixers on all of my guitars including the electrics. These truly are the greatest strings made. They will pay for themselves so cough up the few extra bucks as they are worth it and you too will never use another companies strings again

Superlative

By Garrett from Oklahoma on October 29, 2015 Music Background: Live Performance/Guitar Instructor

I have been very, very impressed with these sets of strings. I consider the tone to be absolutely fantastic, having both great clarity and warmth. When I am dialed in to a clean tone, they sound excellent. I also get very heavy at times, and they certainly keep up with the high gain and heavy hand I often have used with them. I am writing this review just shy of having *a single set* of these on my SG for one year--a high string finally snapped last night. Though they have maintained good tone the entire time, they are just starting to lose a bit of clarity. I played these strings very often. I remember clearly, I had had them on for 3 or 4 months when my buddy picked up my guitar and was like, "Whoa, new strings? These sound great." I simply replied, "Nope. They're just elixirs."

Awesome strings

Does not hurt my fingers even after playing long periods.

I am blown away !!!!

Just the other day as I was preparing to go to band practice, I broke a B string on my strat and I didn't have a spare, so I went next door to my neighbor who is also a player and asked him if he had a spare string he could give me. He gave me a set of these which I've heard so much about but, was hesitant to buy because of the price. I ended up putting the whole set on my guitar and could not believe my ears. Not only did my guitar sound way much better but, it also seemed to hold tuning much easier as well. I've heard that these last for months on end , so I'll be buying a couple of sets next week which should hold me over for the next year or two. I've been playing for over 43 years ( I'm 55 ) and I've been a D'Addario user but no more. Elixiirs rock.

Everything else is an experiment. But when reliability is on the line, I come back to Elixir Nano-webs. The thin coating takes away the squeal and squeak of un-coated strings. I've never gotten an inconsistent set. They nail every range and frankly leave nothing more to want. I have had some excellent Cleartones, but I've had some that made me wonder if this was the same company. I've even fallen for some of Dean Markley's various marketing schemes over the years and for colored strings form DR. But I know what I'm getting from Elixir--the best and most consistently good strings for either acoustic or electric. I've never broken one and I've used them since they sent me a test market set around the turn of the 21st Century.

Best strings for thr money

By Mark from Jasper GA on January 2, 2014 Music Background: 45 years playing

The A string was bad right out of the pack, but i will still give it a 5. Out of 30 or 40 sets this is the first time this as happen.

Giving them a shot...

So far, these sound as good as the D'Addario strings that I used before. I thought that I would try them because the acoustic Elixir strings lasted FOREVER!

Elixir Nanoweb Eleccric Strings

By Jon Fine from Northern California and west-central Ohio on June 26, 2013 Music Background: Pro musician

I've been using these for years. They really do hold their tone much longer than anything else I've tried. I used to change my strings every 3 playing days--with the Elixirs I can go months and they don't go dead. The only problem I've had is that I can't tell when it's time to change them because they just don't get thumpy! They can fatigue and break just like non-coated strings if they're on there long enough, and it's happened once or twice that I've broken one and then realized that they've been on the guitar for, oh, eight months or so! I wish I'd had them when I was on the road thirty years ago!

Long Lasting

By Mark B Heller from Round Lake, IL on October 26, 2012

These cost more than most other strings but last a long, long time. I hate changing strings so I love these because they last at least 3 times longer than anything else I've tried. Since they last 3x longer, they're really not that much more expensive than cheap strings.

Surprise!!

By Sweetwater Customer on October 2, 2012

When I first got these strings, I asked the sales rep at my local guitar shop for the best strings he had. He handed these to me and I fell in love immediately. The play great for everything I play, from church music, to punk, to metal. Great tone, great playability.

THE BEST STRINGS IN THE WHOLE DANG WIDE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

By Will Gaines from United States on April 9, 2012 Music Background: Hobbyist/Student (2.5 years of guitar)

THESE ARE THE BEST STRINGS EVER!!! ANY OTHER STRINGS THAT I HAVE USED USUALLY LOSE THEIR TONE AFTER A COUPLE OF WEEKS, AND I REPLACE THEM AFTER TWO MONTHS BECAUSE OF RUST AND DIRT. WITH THESE STRINGS, THEIR TONE IS ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS THAN WHEN I BOUGHT THEM, AND RIGHT NOW THEY ARE 2 MONTHS OLD!!! THEY DON'T HAVE ONE BIT OF RUST OR VISIBLE DIRT BUILDUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OOOOMMMMMGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best Strings Ever

By LH from FL USA on August 14, 2011 Music Background: Guitarist

I just replaced my first set of these because I broke the top e. It was the only string showing minor signs of use after about 3 months. Ernie Ball and D'Dario can't say that in Florida's humidity. I used to replace tone-deaf, worn-out, nasty strings at the rate of 3 - 5 sets per month. The Elixirs were the first set that sounded great, played like new, and were still bright and shiney when I tossed them.

SWEETWATER - what happened to the 3-pack???

Elixir Nanowebs

By Lance on August 8, 2011

Their Elixirs...enough said! Long lasting and hold their tune even when doing serious bends. Haven't found a better string yet.

Great first impression

By Tony M from Chattanooga, TN on July 23, 2010 Music Background: Beginner guitarist

I replaced the strings that came with my Epiphone Special II with these. I thought my guitar needed a set up because the big E and A kept rattling on the frets. I put these on and no more rattle. The guitar plays better than the day I took it out of the box. Plus the strings feel great under my fingers. I feel like I'm playing better already!

Very nice and comfortable

By Corey from Barbados on August 11, 2011 Music Background: Intermediate Player

I was a bit hesitant to purchase these strings but i am very pleased with my purchase since using them.

These strings are very comfortable on your fingers. They don't rust easily and they keep the guitar in tune.

They last a good while.

By Aarlog on September 30, 2022 Music Background: Recording musician

Bought these in the summer of 2021 in an attempt to get through one summer without my strings rusting completely, and they did that job as well as I hoped they would. I even managed to get another summer out of these strings, until the core of the A string suddenly snapped at the bridge. A little over a year out of one set of guitar strings is pretty good, especially with how humid it tends to get in my neck of the woods.

Great Technology

By Nick from Los Angeles on December 26, 2011 Music Background: Composer / Producer

These strings sound like new for months. Also, they have a bit less friction than standard strings, which I like. The only tonal difference between these and normal strings is these are a bit more sparkly and jangly (basically, more treble and less bass). I end up rolling the presence and treble a notch back on the amp.

Not for me

By Jacob on October 6, 2019 Music Background: 60's, thru 90's rock

I will start out saying that I love Elixers on my accoustic Taylor, wouldn't use anything else. But I installed a set of these on my ES-335 a couple months back & noticed a slight loss of tone right away from what I had been using. Then in the last week the low E string when dead & tone on all the wound strings were getting flat. I play with clean hands, and wipe down my guitars after every use, so I know it wasn't that. I normally change strings about every 6 months and I thought these should have lasted longer then 2 months. Just my opinion as every guitar & player are different.

One Time Giant BOO.

By Jeff Bailey from Humble, TX on April 15, 2022

I'm normally pretty ride or die with these strings, however I just cut a set of Ernie Ball's off of my guitar, threw them in the trash (with great relish), and when I went to put on my pretty new strings, the package was missing the G string. Boo...hiss, extra boo. I would totally recommend these strings normally, just hopefully a one off thing. I'm actually here to reorder more, but being shorted the string actually caused be to burn through three packs of strings. The intolerable Ernie Balls I took off, the pack missing the string which is useless mostly, and now the last pack I have on hand. So ya, one time thumbs down. They usually are great.

Lasts Just As Long As A Normal Set of Ernie Ball's

By Nick Coulman from Wisconsin on November 2, 2020 Music Background: Guitar Player

I was playing Ernie Ball Strings forever and recently thought I'd give these a try, but I noticed they last just as long as the normal… 6 pack of Ernie Ball Slinky Strings. So in my opinion do yourself a favor and just buy the Ernie Ball Strings and save yourself some money.
