great bridge pins
I bought these to get rid of the stock plastic pins in my Taylor 214 CE-K, and I love their look. When the light is right the abalone really shines out. its simple but very subtle and I love that.
Great pins
Great pins, they improve the look of my guitar, as well as the sound of the guitar. SOOOOO much better than the plastic stock pins. Can't speak to whether or not they fit other guitars but they fit my 214-CE K very well.
perfect fit and great sound enhancer!!!
My 2008 Guild D55 made in Tacoma WA sounds a little more richer and fuller with these ebony pins. They are a 3 degree taper and fit nice and snug into the bridge pin holes. I think this a worth while investment for someone who wants to enhance the sound of their instrument in a practical, affordable way. Another trick is to get a mitchel plate mate which will also make a world of difference. All that said, could not be happier with these new Bridge Pins.
Replacing plastic bridge pins with ebony made a difference!
I replaced the plastic bridge pins on my Taylor GTe with these ebony bridge pins and noticed a sonic difference. With the plastic pins, the guitar had an unpleasant sound particularly with the unwound strings. After replacing them with the ebony pins, the tone is now full with clarity. The guitar sounds like a full size guitar now.
These pins are a snug fit for the GTe. I highly recommend them. I got the pins with the Abalone dots for a little touch of Bling. Keep reaching for excellence!
Time for an upgrade
Some guitars come with plastic pins. These ebony pins and solid wood! The abalone dots are a noce touch. I got these as an upgrade for my 2 GS mini's. Worth every penny. Should work with other brand acoustic guitars as well.
Nice upgrade for AD17E
They fit fine and just as tight as the plastic pins. They definitely brightened up the tone of my AD17E combined with me adding a set of lighter gauge elixer strings. My American Dream sounds great and plays great.
Increased sustain
Count me in as another successful GS Mini installation. I have the Koa plus model and was concerned about the potential change in tone I love so much - thankfully that didn't happen. Besides the aesthetic upgrade
with the abalone, looks great, the sustain has vastly increased. Such a bonus I really appreciate playing fingerstyle.
Nice Visual Upgrade to My 214
Bought these to replace the plastic pins of my 214. No issues. The fit is NOT as tight as the plastic, but there is no slippage. I can't speak to the effect on sound. The look is definitely better. Are they worth $...? In my opinion, yes.
Solid Fit!
Upgraded the plastic pins in a 214ce with a set of these. Excellent fit. Pushes in..and a final little snap as the seat perfectly. Inlays were a nice variety. Good simple step to upgrade some quality of a 214 into 3 series and up, and the solid fit seems to keep my pins from popping out and diving into my sound hole during string changes. ;)
The real deal
They fit my Martin -DJr, OM28, 000-17. Super snug fit, no more plastic pins popping up. These are real ebony from Taylor, the curators of ebony forests. Do they sound better? -who knows; but I just like wood, especially ebony, and the fit.
Nice!
Purchased these from Sweetwater a few weeks ago. Took my GS Mini-e Koa to a local shop for a set up, and had them Install the new pins. Worked great, no problems at all. They look very nice, an inexpensive upgrade.
Looks and fits nice!
I bought these for my GS mini, fully aware that they might not fit. Put them on last night and while they weren't as perfect of a fit as the original plastic pins, they worked and are very sturdy now that it's all strung up. They look elegant as well.
A nice addition
I recently bought a Taylor 150e, a fabulous guitar for the money! But it came with plastic bridge pins, which I abhor for so many reasons. These gave it a much snazzier appearance, and a small improvement in tone.
Work great with GS Mini
I have a GS Mini that I bought in 2014 and was amazed how I continued to like the guitar more and more. I think it is a great guitar in its own right and always thought Taylor could make a dressed up version with all solid woods and features of their higher end guitars. I expect that won't happen, but you can improve the look and function of the GS Mini in two ways--at least with the models that were made in the past few years. These bridge pins work and look great compared to the black plastic originally supplied pins. Secondly, you can use the higher end tuning machines from the upper level Taylors. They, too, fit right in and have a better ratio for finer tuning. I have tried and done these two things after speaking with a tech at the Taylor factory. Both are good improvements to a great and fun guitar.
Good for plugging holes.
You can't get more excited about bridge pins. Got these for a gs mini. Now, I can use the old plastic ones for spares. They work as advertised. Why 5 stars? I haven't lost one yet.
I LOVE these!
These look beautiful on my Taylor GS Mini hog!
I bought these from my Luthier who assured me they would fit.
Yes, they fit just fine. The first day they were installed
I just had to push a couple back in a few times. But now they stay in even
after a fresh string change. I've had them in for a few months.
I'm going to buy another pack here for those "just in case" moments.
A cheap way to pimp up your lower end, but fabulous guitar!
Sweetwater's price with free shipping is a nice bonus!
PERFECT!
This is a VERY affordable way to infinitely improve an acoustic's tone.
Louder, clearer, more low end, more bite. It's worth it just based on what they do to natural harmonics!
There is no reason to have cheap plastic pins when these are available!
Keep in mind these only fit in full size guitar bridges!
(they won't fit in Baby Taylors and similar products)
Match perfect with my 110ce
Perfect fit, no mod needed. Shipped on time.
Sweet Bridge Pins
Excellent replacement for the plastic on my Taylor Academy. I'm blown away by the customer service at Sweetwater. Professional and most helpful. Great product and a great seller! Thanks!
Worthwhile Upgrade
I bought these for my 214CE DLX Even thought they say for 300 series and above, they work. They are shorter than the stock bridge pins and seemed to be slightly more tapered. There is a noticeable difference in tone. So for the minimal cost, it is a worthwhile upgrade.
Nice looking, nice fit
They look great, they fit great worth the small amount of money that I paid for them
Good quality bridge pins
Good pins, fit my Taylor 814 with no problems and they look good.
The abolone is part baloney
First, these are Taylor specific. They don't really fit properly (a little too large diameter) into a Martin bridge, can't speak to other brands, but buy these for your series 3 and above Taylor, nothing else.
But that's not a complaint, that's just info. After allm it says "Taylor" right on the label, it's marketed for Taylor, so don't be surprised that they are for a Taylor.
Tone wise there is a discernable increase in sustain and timber over stock plastic pins, no doubt about it, even to my tin ear.
The slightly lower rating is because of the questionable quality of the abalone used. 2 of the 6 pins are "dead", don't catch the light at all, might as well be solid ebony. But maybe my expectations are too high...I mean seriously, how much QCand material selection can one expect to go into an inexpensive set of bridge pins?
Still, as long as they are for a Taylor, improved tone even with the possibility of having "dead" ones might be worth it.
Visually disappointing, but otherwise fine
I bought these for a very high end Taylor. The guitar came with plain ebony pins, and I wanted to dress it up a bit with these to match the abalone inlays on the body and neck. (So this review is weighted heavily on appearance.)
The abalone inlays on these pins range in appearance from "pretty good" to "why did I bother". This is not the quality I expect from Taylor. It's more on par with a knock-off product from overseas. A couple of the pins were good enough to be used, a couple were mediocre, and a couple looked like semi transparent white plastic.
Functionally, they're just fine. The quality of the wood is uniform, and they all fit perfectly. (Hence two stars instead of just one.)
Dear Taylor: Up your game, and charge more if you need to…but don't keep doing this.
I ended up taking these pins out and finding a beautiful set from an alternate source.
Bridge pin swap
I BOUGHT THESE FOR A TAYLOR 110E. MY REP WAS CORRECT, THEY FIT GREAT BUT, THEY MAKE THE GUITAR SOUND TINNY. YES, THE 110 IS A BRIGHT SOUNDING GUITAR, NOT IN A BAD WAY, BUT WITH THE EBONEY PINS, ITS TOO MUCH .I ACTUALLY SWITCHED THE PINS SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T HEARING THINGS. I ENDED UP USING THE STOCK PINS WITH A SET OF EARTHWOOD MEDIUM LIGHTS, 80/ 20 ,12-54, MY FAVORITE NON COATED STRINGS FOR OVER 40 YEARS.
Useless for me
Poorly made. String slots are too shallow and short.
GS Mini
Warning despite other comments, these pins do not fit the Taylor GS mini - they may be good for other models but not the GS mini - ordered because another reviewer said they fit, but they're extremely loose and will not hold even the large E string in my Taylor GS mini
no improvement...
The Taylor 316ce already has ebony pins, which I didnt realize at the time of purchase, thus these pins did nothing to improve the tone. After doing a great deal of research I purchased and installed Buffalo Horn bridge pins (5x's the price as ebony) and wow what an improvement in volume, clarityand sustain.
