Deep sounds
One reviewer noted the HF roll off above 5k. IMO this is what makes this unit so good. Be aware of that sure, but it is super musical and works so well. I interface my space echo with this...
Radial EXTC-SA 1 channel Active RE-Amping Device
Just what I needed for my home studio. Using to re-amp guitar tracks and as a direct box.
Dual effects loop!
built like a tank! This pedal solved my problem of keeping a dry signal and a wet signal to my daw. It really allows you to get creative around using your pedals in series or parallel. Not sure how I got by with out it as long as I did.
Super cool/versatile piece of gear. Will last many lifetimes. Nice power supply.
Straight forward design, extremely well built as with all of their stuff. Good bank for buck. Not a lot of reasons not to own one if you have a studio and like to experiment and have a pedal collection. Just don't let it sit on top of your hot un-level monitors. the glue got heated and the foam base sagged a bit, I going to have to peel it off somehow and re-center it, the adhesive is very strong but heat will loosen it up and move the foam base if you are not careful
Amazing tool !
I can't believe I lived without this for so long ! Very fun and easy. After I set it up I decided to try it out on a remote overdub I was doing. I ran a track of a pedalsteel solo through old EH Frequency Analyzer on a country tune. It came out so crazy sounding I sent it to the producer just to screw with him. Turned out he loved it and it's going on the record. Anyway, it is great to be able to use whatever stomp boxes I have around inside my DAW. Radial has come with an elegant system to integrate out of the box with the inside the box. If I had a bigger studio I would want 10 of them.
KILLER
I'm using this Radial box to interface my Fulltone Tube Tape Echo to my Soundcraft mixing console as a line level effects device. It works better than I ever imagined.
After years of less than ideal S/N ratio and low level hum I've finally got the TTE sounding amazing as a vocal effect during mixing.
Our studio has a large hybrid mixing system centered around a Soundcraft 40 channel analog mixer. The Radial EXTC was not inexpensive but it is very high quality.
Thanks to Jim Swain my Sweetwater sales engineer for many years of excellent assistance in making my studio dream come to life.
Good music to all!
Perfect
This is exactly what I was looking for back when I bought my first reamper (Radial ProRMP). Having a box with a line in/out makes it super easy to wire into a patch bay, and then you're just wiring pedals into the EXTCA's FX loops. Input/Output volume, phase switch, and mix knob are great tools to have, and the two FX loops (which can be run at the same time) is an added bonus. Wish I had found this sooner, since it makes working with guitar FX as outboard gear a breeze and takes care of all the signal level conversions in the box. From what I understand, the EXTCA can also be used as a DI box, traditional reamper, and a way to split a signal to two amps (though I haven't tried any of these yet).
Only reamp box you'll ever need
I just got this box yesterday and I have not been able to stop messing around with it. First impression is that it's built like a tank! I was looking for a simple, passive reamp unit when I bought this and I'm glad I spent the extra money. I've only used one channel to put guitar effects on some sample tracks and get a handle on the controls but the real fun is sending a signal to 2 separate amps at the same time. Quick way to fill out a thin rhythm guitar track!
This little orange box really opens up a wide array of options, both with reamping and adding effects without using up CPU power with plugins.
Watch out for the HF rollofff!
I bought a pair of these to hook up to some reverb and delay pedals. After setting them up correctly, I noticed a really significant loss of high frequencies (even when the pedals were bypassed) so I reached out to Radial about it and they told me these units have an intentional, built in low pass filter around 5khz... That might work for some pedals but I want full frequency performance for this price and I don't appreciate the lack of transparency in the product description. I'm returning both now and going with a better solution
