EVH

By Tyler from USA
Music Background: 25 yrs. guitar

These are Amazing! Just compared them to 3 other Major String Brands.. On the same guitar.
These came out on Top! Play, Feel, and Sound Great. Intonation was easily achieved on the new set up.
I was sceptical at first, but I thought what the heck, go for it. Wow! They will be going on my other guitars
very soon. Great Strings! 9-46

Poor packaging

By Sweetwater Customer

Poor packaging. Strings were not individually wrapped. When I opened the package, some strings had to be untangled from other strings.
I won't buy them again.

WOW

By Mark from Anderson, IN
Music Background: 27 years of playing.

Gear used for this: Gibson Les Paul Traditional (all stock) Gibson Les Paul Studio (JB Bridge Pickup) Peavey 6505 Head, Carvin MTS3200 head, Two 2X12 cabinets loaded with Eminence “The Governor” speakers, George L cables and a decimator 2 in the effects loop.

I've tried almost every brand out there from cheap to crazy and I have to say that I am sold on these. I honestly think that my search is over unless they break easy. I had a bit of a harsh high end sound/slightly muddy low on my Les Paul’s that these turned into a smooth as glass sound across the board. Largest change in tone of any string I have ever used. Sweet is the word they use to describe these strings, I'll have to agree. Nice grit to the tone, but tons of string definition as well (I play classic rock type stuff, would that work for metal?). I put them on, tuned them up and after a few retuning’s, they were staying in tune. I bend strings like I was on fire and that's how I earn the water, so that was impressive. AND on top of all that, the price is nice too. I meant to put them on and just try them out for a few minutes, ended up playing for over 2 hours switching back and forth between the LP’s and the amps (the amps have a very different sound so it was interesting to hear), until others in the house reminded me what time it was getting to be!

I have not had a set on long term of course, but honestly even if they were to go dead in a month, I'd rather change them then go back. The only thing that would change my opinion would be if they start breaking easy, but since Ed’s a hard core whammy bar guy, I wouldn’t think so.
It seems crazy, just out and out crazy, to me, but this was the missing element in my sound. Yeah EVH is putting his name on a lot of stuff these days, but as long as it's this good, I can't blame the guy. I know this review seems like EVH was playing me, but I am truly amazed by these things. I just ordered a few more sets to try on my Carvin, PRS and my Fenders.
