Gibson ES-339 Figured Semi-hollowbody Electric Guitar - Blueberry Burst Reviews
The Gibson ES-339 is loved by players who need semi-hollow tone but don't want a guitar with too much bulk. Built as a smaller version of the ES-335, the ES-339 has the same semi-hollow tone and sustain in a smaller package. Made with a 3-ply maple and poplar laminate body, this guitar showcases a bright and lively sound with a warm, rich sustain. A mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard feel familiar in your hand and enable quick soloing and chording. Powered by a pair of '57 Classic humbuckers, this guitar has all the PAF goodness you'd expect from a vintage Gibson, but with added clarity and bite. So what are you waiting for? Not just a pretty face!
This guitar is so darn beautiful but don't go by looks alone. The 339 is a great jazz/blues/standards guitar particularly for folks that don't like to play those huge jazz guitars. This guitar sounds very good as any other electric jazz guitar and easy to play fretboard with perfectly plecked fast action frets. So easy to play those difficult jazz chords and barre chords are easy to form ( I do use extra light strings). The figured look really sets off this guitar and its weight is not crazy heavy as most jazz guitars. Don't get me wrong this is a fine guitar for any genre like blues, standards even heavy metal. So understand this is not just a pretty face but a great playing guitar as well . Got to give props to Kevin for all the work and excellent advise and famous Sweetwater customer service.
Just an all around player and looker.
One great purchase. I appreciate the extra attention to detail on this model.
Sounds and plays great unplugged too. A homerun for Gibson again.
Not just utilitarian, it's a work of art!
It sounds good even when unplugged all by myself. And it also is quite a work of art. It's sonically pleasing and visually captive. Much thanks to Daniel Thigpen who helped me get it. It took about 6 months to be in line for one, but it definitely is worth the wait. Much thanks again, Daniel!
