Gretsch Electromatic CVT Medium-scale Electric Bass Guitar - Bristol Fog Reviews

Medium-scale Electric Bass with Mahogany Body, Mahogany Neck, Laurel Fingerboard, 1 Single-coil Pickup, and 1 Humbucking Pickup - Bristol Fog

Experience the playability of a short-scale bass with the tonal range of a full-scale model in the Gretsch Electromatic CVT medium-scale electric bass. With its 32-inch scale length, this versatile instrument offers a comfortable playing experience without sacrificing the warm, resonant tone delivered by its solid mahogany body and bolt-on mahogany neck. A laurel fingerboard with a 12-inch radius and 20 frets adds character and smooth playability, while a true bone nut, 4-saddle tailpiece, and die-cast sealed tuners provide excellent tuning stability and sustain. Equipped with two Low Down alnico pickups — a single-coil at the bridge and a humbucker at the neck — the Electromatic CVT delivers a wide tonal palette. Independent volume controls and a master tone knob allow for precise shaping of its signature Gretsch sound. Long favored by discerning players, medium-scale basses have amassed quite a loyal following, including many Sweetwater bassists. With the Gretsch Electromatic CVT, you too can experience the perfect blend of comfort, tone, and classic Gretsch character.

Absolute bute!

By Jody S. from Panama City, FL

This bass looks great! Sounds good, and bridges the classic look with modern feel. Very well balanced and minimal neck drop.
Tone sits exactly in between Danelectro Longhorn and Ibanez Talman (my other axes lol). The medium scale size is a great middle ground for guitarists wanting to play bass but not wanting to play long scale.

Love this Bass!!

By Timothy C. from ROCHESTER, NY

I purchased this 3 days ago. I am highly impressed with this guitar. The finish is amazing! I love the 32 scale for comfort and fast playing. I definitely will be putting on Labella flats for sure. It sounds real good with the strings on it just what I like. The action out of the box was sweet, low and almost perfectly tuned. It's light weight and chunky body. The neck is awesome, great smooth finish and the edges and the frets are nice and smooth as well. The tuning knobs are real nice as well as the volume and pick up knobs. This is a well made bass for the money!

Buy it

This Gretsch Electromatic CVT is a superb instrument. I can't emphasize that enough. It feels great in the hands. Has excellent tonal variations and superb action. Far more beautiful in-the-flesh (so to speak) than in these photos. What I'm impressed with the most is its articulate definition string-to-string. There is no muddiness here and each string sounds like it fits in with the other strings, which is not always the case. It sings up on the high range, and with nice sustain, and does just as well deep down low. And you will discover it has a really nice 'growl' depending on your instrument settings (volume knobs for both bridge and neck pickups, and a master tone knob... you can really do some nice fine-tuning when it comes to overall sound). You'll need a case or a gig bag at least, which will add to the cost but as to cost $ for such a superb instrument is a great buy. I've played or tried out many basses in my lifetime that were much more expensive than this one and there is no comparison. To each his own, but I think this bass would work in any genre of music. I'm an old guy with an increasingly arthritic left thumb and this medium-scale bass works just fine. Comes with an excellent set of roundwound strings. Right now I'm just playing at home and can't get enough of this bass. I gotta add here that Sweetwater has excellent customer service. No, they didn't put me up to say that, it's my honest opinion having been on the receiving end of SW's fine service more than once.
