Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar - Metallic Gold Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple Top, Mahogany Neck, Laurel Fingerboard, and 2 Humbucking Pickups - Metallic Gold

Slash's Les Paul collection is arguably as celebrated as the Guns N' Roses axeman himself. The Epiphone Slash Les Paul Standard is Epi's version of one of the legendary guitarist's favorite touring instruments. This solidbody electric guitar is a Les Paul afficionado's dream, with enough Gibson-inspired features to fill a snakepit and a real-world price tag that's guaranteed to put a dog-eat-dog sly smile on your face. The Slash Les Paul Standard boasts classic maple-on-mahogany construction, which includes a figured maple veneer top that's guaranteed to turn heads. This exquisite rock machine features a comfortable Slash-custom "C"-shaped neck and an easy-playing Indian Laurel fingerboard with 22 medium-jumbo frets, along with a set of vintage-voiced Custom ProBucker pickups, high-quality wiring, and Epiphone strap locks. The Epi Slash Les Paul Standard also includes color-coordinated hardware, Slash’s "Scully" signature drawing on the back of the headstock, and a truss rod cover with a facsimile of Slash's signature, and a custom hardshell case.

Amazing Guitar for the Price point

By Sweetwater Customer from Denver on August 24, 2023 Music Background: guitarist/vocalist for 30 years

This guitar comes out of the box playing with a professional set up right from the factory!!!
I love the color, I love the sound, I love the case.
it sounds amazing through my 412 A series black star slanted cab.
I run a black star amped3 100 watt floor amp pedal, and talk about tone!!!
I love this guitar so much, thank you Epiphone, and slash for putting this out,
I'm a very happy customer 5 stars cause i cant give it 10 stars

Killer Les Paul

By J.Z. on April 6, 2023

I'd been considering this guitar for a while and now that the price has dropped I jumped on it.
It's got a great neck, not quite as fat as the 50's Standard but thicker than the 60's. Great pickups too, they'll cover about any genre with ease.
Plus, it looks GREAT. I dig the uncovered pickups and no pickguard. I only added some reflector knobs.
And now that Epiphone has raised the prices on the Standard to $, this is a no-brainer.
For only an extra $ you get much better pickups and a great hard shell case.

Great guitar. Feels good to play, sounds like it should, and has the looks to wow an audience.

I'am 100% satisfied with my purchase of this guitar. I love Sweetwater. I always will be coming back for all my music gear needs. My Sales Engineer(Jay Diehl) was very helpful and made my experience stellar. My guitar came pre-setup and in amazing condition. Thanks Sweetwater!!

Not your Ordinary Epiphone

By Zappa from Kent, Ohio on September 1, 2022 Music Background: 30 years of playing, buying and collecting guitars

I've been a guitar player for 30 years now. I've owned many, many guitars. Many of which I still own.
I'll start by saying that this is the best put-together, feeling, playing Epiphone I've ever owned. And I currently own 4 of the new Inspired by Gibson line.
The nay-sayers out there claim that the pickups in the Slash model are the regular Epiphone Probuckers. They're not. They are clones of the Gibson Custombuckers. And to my ears sound great. I'm starting to prefer them over the Gibson Burstbuckers in my '59. They have a bit more bite.
My Slash model arrived in great condition, nut seated and cut very well and the neck is similar to my Epiphone '59. (Which is also a great guitar, but with a dull finish) The electronics work as expected, the orange drop caps help the tone pots shape the sound.
This is just a really great guitar that's fun to play and looks fantastic. A few years ago, a guitar of this quality would have cost hundreds more.
The case is a nice bonus too.

Slash Epiphone Gold Top Les Paul

By Jonathan Hefner from MURFREESBORO, TN on September 1, 2021 Music Background: 30+ yr playing guitar

Man, I LOVE this guitar! I have a 1990 Gibson Les Paul Standard, and this Slash Gold Top Epiphone Les Paul, and man I just can't put this thing down. It feels so good to play, it sounds FANTASTIC, stays in tune reasonably well, and LOOKS AMAZING!

I honestly have no complaints about this guitar, at all. It came from Sweetwater in perfect shape, and was set up very well. Their 55 point inspection is no joke.

This guitar also came with a hardshell case with Slash's signature on it...such a great deal! BUY THIS NOW!

Great value - looks and plays awesome!

I love this guitar! You can't beat it for the price. I got the gold top and it's a beautiful guitar.

The Epiphone Limited Edition '59 Les Paul Standard was not available , so I figured why not give this a shot . Yes , it's $ more , but I guess Slash has to get paid too . lol This is a very , very , very good guitar ! Not too heavy and the neck has a pleasent girth to it . My "ONLY" issue was that ( GIBSON ) Epiphone would not give me any information on the pickups when I called them directly . All they would say is that they're Custom ProBuckers . That being said , I swapped them out for a Seymour Duncan Vintage Blues Set ( '59 N/B ) of which I purchased from Sweetwater . I can't comment on the stock pickups , because I changed them immediately in order to have a "DEFINITIVE" starting point . I wish Epiphone , and Gibson for that matter , would give more information about their pickups other than just their name .( After I purchased this guitar , I tested and found that the neck was 8k and the bridge was around 8.5k ) I have a Gibson Exclusive Les Paul Classic Lite , but find myself reaching for the Epiphone Slash LP on a daily basis . The QUALITY of this guitar is good enough to play on stage and the price tag gives you peace of mind .

Slash gold top

By Rich from Canon City CO on August 10, 2021

This is a pretty nice guitar for the money. I do agree with others that you should get something to justify paying over the cost of a 50's or 60's Epiphone Les Paul, You do get a case but the pickups are nothing special. That being said it does play well and mine came set up pretty nice. It seems to shine when being used to play chords like in campfire songs or singalongs. I wont be using it as a main axe but have no real complaints. Looks awesome.

Also would like to say thanks to Mike Wright my sales rep. Always a big help.

Should Have Better Components

By Cam from Streetsboro, OH on November 9, 2022 Music Background: 30 years behind a Les Paul....

I owned this Victoria model for a few weeks, but sent it back.
Don't get me wrong, it's a good guitar, but for the price? Not so much.
It played great, the pickups were pretty good, although a little muddy on the neck position. The neck felt identical to the Epiphone '59 neck.
All being said, the Epiphone '59 Les Paul is $ cheaper, and comes with much better parts.
Unless the gloss finish and the Slash logo are that important to you...
