Epiphone Slash J-45 Acoustic Guitar - Vermillion Burst Reviews

6-string Acoustic-electric Guitar with Sitka Spruce Top, Mahogany Back and Sides, Mahogany Neck, and Indian Laurel Fingerboard - Vermillion Burst

In collaboration with a true legend of rock 'n' roll, Epiphone brings you the Slash J-45 acoustic-electric guitar. This round-shoulder dreadnought guitar has consistently been one of the best-selling, most beloved acoustics of the past eight decades. With the Slash J-45, Epiphone has touched up this iconic axe with appointments and subtle design elements that celebrate Slash and his unique style. The Slash J-45 features a solid Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides for a tone that is as full as it is complex — a punchy treble is supported by a robust midrange and a low end that run through the entire sonic presentation at just the right level. In short, the Slash J-45, like its namesake, is a true original that will have you strumming for hours, basking in its tone and mesmerized by its stage-ready design.

Amazing Deep Resonance Epiphone Slash J-45

By David Cataldo from NORWELL, MA on December 5, 2023

This guitar is amazing. The fit and finish are flawless and well made. Beautiful sound and the action is low and perfect.
I am so impressed with buying my first guitar from Sweetwater. I'm Buying No where else ever again!
Seeing the pictures of the actual guitar was a confidence builder and they really do check it out. It's perfect.
I also loved the note on outside of box to wait 24hrs to open, so guitar adjusts to the new environment.
This is an awesome guitar from an awesome dealer "Sweetwater" Thank You.

Unbelievable

By William from Arlington, Texas on May 10, 2023 Music Background: Trying to be the best I can

OK, so a month in. This guitar is fantastic. Epiphone spent all their money in all the right places. The fatter neck isn't.
a problem and actually feels pretty good. I didn't read any bad reviews before I bought it, but they don't do it justice.
The guitar sounds amazing. It has a nice rich full sound. I find myself not wanting to put it down. And typically, I don't.
It has sustain forever. Easy to play. The pictures don't do it justice.
It is solid wood with TUSQ nut and saddle. The pins are ivory and is equipped with Grover tuners. It's held its tune very well.
Topped off with LR Baggs electronics and a hard case. They can't be making any money.
I would buy this guitar again and again. It'll stay in my collection forever..

Value, value, value

By Ron from Jax Fl on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Over 60 years experience playing with different Bands and groups

I have more than 35 Guitars from various manufactures: Gibson, Martin, Taylor, Gretsch etc. I have been playing for than 60 years and have accumulated a lot of equipment to say the least. I have bought a lot of it from Sweetwater. I would like to thank you to Darcy Berg for all the hard work she displayed during this purchase. Darcy sent pics of the guitar and displayed a lot of pure dedication and pride in this sale and all the other sales I've made with Sweetwater. Darcy was an is always engaged to make sure I'm satisfied with my purchase, she also strives to answer all my questions and if she doesn't readily have an answer will get back with me. The Guitar is beautiful! I didn't have a j45 or anything vermillion so I pulled the trigger and I'm glad I did. The slope shoulder is just different than my Dreadnaught's. I took the bonus bucks and put it towards another Epiphone LP special in tv yellow and it plays as good as my 59 Lp.

Great guitar

The Best Epiphone J45

By Turtle from Buda, TX on January 13, 2022 Music Background: Lifelong musician and guitar collector.

This version of the Epiphone J45 is, hands down, the best version from the modern offerings. The neck is thicker, but comfortable. The sound is great and the LR Baggs gives a good representation of the sound of this acoustic guitar. And the Vermillion Burst color looks good in any light. The Inspired by Gibson model Epiphone guitars are all decent models. This Slash model takes everything up a notch.

Great tone

Epiphone Quality

By Big Johnson from TX on October 23, 2021

Quality built fit to finish. This guitar will not disappoint. It not only delivers but exceeds what you expect from a quality built instrument at this price point. The sound quality and finish are amazing. With only one minor tweak and a small upgrade this guitar will deliver all the goods expected. First, the one minor tweak was adjusting the neck to dail the guitar in. And the minor upgrade came in the form of replacing the plastic bridge pins. I strongly recommend replacing them with tusk to maximize the tone quality. As far as the neck goes, it's not slim but it does feel comfortable in your hand, and mind you I like slim necks but this does not feel bad at all. Overall Epiphone hit it out of the park with the Slash J45. I strongly recommend one before the price point goes up again.

Not a J-45 but excellent never the less.

By Eric from ASHEVILLE, NC on May 5, 2022

I took a chance on this model and I'm glad I did. While it doesn't sound like a J-45 exactly, it does sound fantastic. It plays far above it's price range in my opinion and well worth the price of admission.

You mean Slash V neck?! LOL

By Shontsy from Michigan on April 4, 2022 Music Background: Experienced player, tinkerer and sometimes collector

I don't know where anyone gets off calling this a C-shaped neck of any kind when it's clearly a big fat pronounced V. This is Epiphone's own ad copy, not Sweetwater making a typo. I played one of these and thought it was excellent! It was lightweight and really resonant with a great tone. A cut above the rest of the Masterbilt/Inspired by line with good wood of consistent weight, thinner feeling finish, great tuners, hard case included and a better pickup than any of the others. Unfortunately I did not prefer the neck profile and the Hummingbird I played had similarly good wood, tuners and tone but with a standard C shaped neck. I don't care much about the electronics and I have empty cases around here so I'm going for the Hummingbird but if you can get along with this neck profile it's an excellent guitar for the price. I like that the extra attention on this model went to hardware (case, tuners, pickup) instead of bling. If this guitar had a standard C shaped neck there is no doubt this is the model I would buy from the Masterbilt/Inspired by lineup.

Good guitar for the money.

By Joseph from Illinois on January 29, 2022 Music Background: Tone chasing/developing skill.

I like the playability and sound. It has a unique neck more like a fat V in my opinion it's quite pronounced! I set the action to my preference(instructions come in the case). I removed the pick guard to enjoy more of the burst finish. For the money you get a quality solid wood guitar. The difference between this and a high end Gibson is the fit and finish. Very small things inside like a lot of glue or the cuts of the bridge and fret material are of standard grade. That being said the finish on this epiphone is very durable. I wanted a j45 in my collection and this guitar has me satisfied for the time being. It holds its own with my taylor 414 and Martin d28. I would rate this head and shoulders above lower priced epiphone acoustics I've had in the past. This is a great player guitar for someone with a finer collection.

Great guitar

By Sweetwater Customer on December 5, 2023

It definitely has that Gibson tone. Excellent fit and finish. But there was some some playability issues. Strings weren't ringing out as clearly as she should be. And string spacing was much too tight, much tighter than a Gibson and even a Martin. Unlike a Gibson, the neck tapers in at the first fret so theres not a lot of room for correction. But after having the nut replaced with bone and having wider string spaces applied, it plays much better now.

Neat Looking

By Sweetwater Customer from NC on November 3, 2022 Music Background: novice

Looks great, buut not the sound I was expecting. The guitar is well built, but I play most of the time without electric mode. They should make this in a plain acuostic in the epiphone line. Make it just as iis is without pickup.
