Epiphone J-200 Acoustic Guitar - Aged Vintage Sunburst Gloss Reviews

Ordered this beautiful guitar in November 2023. Really quick delivery. Great hard shell case. What lay inside was in my opinion a work of art. Plays great with tons of volume. Someone said it might not be for a finger picker like me but I love it. I've never plugged it in … but that's not my thing. Israel H. was a great person to deal with. Great follow up. Extremely satisfying experience.

I've purchased a ton of great electric guitars from Sweetwater, but I've never invested in a good acoustic so I decided it was time. My budget was $ so I was in between the J200, The Excellente, and a Taylor. My buddy has a Taylor so I know what it sounds like. I just kept going back to the J200 and watched a ton of reviews. I've never played the Gibson version before so I can't compare, but when I played my first chord, I was pleasantly relieved and surprised on how amazing it felt snd sounded. Feels like a $5k guitar would feel like it, if I had to guess. The finish is stunning. Plays like butter. My only knock is that it doesn't come with a case. Wish it would have, but that's ok. Thanks to Mike Soper for talking me through the purchase. Helpful as always.

Simply the most beautifully sounding (and looking) guitar I've ever owned. It is effortless to play and its natural acoustic sound fills an entire room. I've had mine for 2 years and it is still pure love playing it. It sounds like a $ guitar but it's not.

Let me start off that this guitar sounds and plays amazing for the money but did need work after I received it. No it was not due to anything Sweetwater did. I removed the plastic bridge pins and installed a wooden set to be more fitted. I noticed the original plastic pins sat extremely low into the bridge slots. There were two frets that sat high on the fret board and there was some buzzing. After some work the guitar is perfect. I also gave this guitar three days in a humidified room with a Tonerite device vibrating the thicker than Gibson sika top. I feel like after some break in time your J-200 will be more responsive and have more lower end. The folks at Gibson/Epiphone did some amazing things here. I am not sure how they can deliver such an amazing guitar for the price.

After reading many positive reviews on this guitar, I decided to try one out for myself and I was so pleasantly surprised. This guitar really delivers!! I have played many guitars by Epiphone from Doves to Les Pauls and have honestly never been impressed by their quality or playability. On the other hand I've had the privilege of playing a friend's Gibson Hummingbird on several occasions for gigs and shows. This guitar is not far off the quality of Gibson and sounds better than some I've played in guitar stores. I have been playing guitar for over 25 years, mostly country and leading worship, and this guitar is the real deal. The action is absolutely amazing all the way up the fretboard, and the neck feels great in hand. Tone is warm, rich, and full; just like you would expect from a big-bodied guitar. On top of being a great sounding instrument, this guitar is beautiful. Pictures do not do justice to the incredible finish on this guitar! If you are in the market for a jumbo and don'd have $5K setting around, do yourself a favor and try one of these "Inspired by Gibson" series by Epiphone. You will be blown away!!

Buy this guitar as soon as Sweetwater can provide one. My sales representative, TJ Jackson, recommended I pay extra for the Sweetwater setup. Right out of the case the guitar played beautifully. Up and down the neck a pleasure. I've played a Gibson SJ200 and there is not five times greater difference in the two guitars. I cannot recommend this guitar highly enough and I've been at this for over 35 years.

This new era Epiphone J-200 is an absolutely AWESOME guitar. For an ALL SOLID WOOD guitar you cannot beat the price and quality of this music machine. Epiphone has really stepped up their game on this guitar. As an added bonus you also recieve FISHMAN ELECTRONICS to the mix in this already GREAT product. I am looking forward to many years of enjoyment with this guitar and will definitely be an asset to my guitar collection. My only gripe with this guitar you have to purchase a guitar case separately. Epiphone you knocked this one out of the ballpark that's for sure, GREAT job!!

Owned and played many guitars for 60 years. Not a pro, but have played vintage Gibsons. You will have a hard time finding a better playing and sounding guitar with a solid top for this price if it's like mine. After playing it for a few times in a retail store, sold my Martin and got this (there, sorry Sweetwater). Got home, put good strings on it, wow! Very happy.

This guitar sounds and plays as great as it looks. Just a terrific instrument. So now I have both Epiphone Inspired by GIbson J-200's. These guitars are a bit thinner in depth than the Gibson, but I like that. They are very big guitars and the added depth makes them seem huge. Great guitars!

This guitar is beautiful in look, feel, and sound. A big bold strummer and also good for fingerpicking. The build on this guitar is simply amazing, I was not expecting such a good build. Definitely a guitar that's gonna stay in my collection for life.

Epiphone have stepped up their game with this all wood offering. Great sound, very deep like what you would expect from a jumbo. Nice work Epiphone!

I'm very surprised by the fit and finish of this guitar. The sound is amazing and the neck is incredibly comfortable. As someone with shorter fingers, the neck is really easy to reach across for bar chords or to hang my thumb over to grab the low E string for open chords. I'll update this review after I've spent some time with it plugged in and get some Fishman electronics experience under my belt. Based on initial quality and sound, I'm giving this a 5 star review.

I ordered this guitar early March, and I just got it. I want to thank Sweetwater' representative, Jack, who called me each month to give me updates about the guitar (and case too).

I will make it short: overall, the guitar is awesome. Great sound, great feel, beautiful paint. Epiphone went up with their quality on this one. It's definitely worth the money, and it plays better than some expensive guitars I was playing before.

The only cons are few finish checks that I notice looking at it closely. You wouldn't see from distance. The fret wires ends are smooth, but some of the frets are not polished and you can feel the *scratchy* noise.

Guitar is quite beautiful and well made. It has great playability.. Sweetwater did a great job in checking it out before delivery. I also like maple body giutars I did change the original stringsi as a matter of personal taste to Elixir nanowen 80/20 bronze since the originals seemed a bit dull.Those seem fine

I bought the Heritage Cherry Sweetwater exclusive J200 Thinking it would come setup redy to play with MAYBE a little tweeking But the Gitar intonation is so bD YOU CANT EVEN PLAY IT VERY GOOD AND WHEN i TALKED TO TE SALES ENGINEER ABOUT IT HE SAID IT IS UNDERSTOOD THAT ALL GUITARS NEED A complete SETUP DONE AFTER YOU BUY THEM. First time in my life and Im 80 years old I EVER bought a guitar that the intonation is this bad. Needless to say I will NEVER EVER BUY another guitar from sweetwater and dont reccomend anyone else buy one either The Guitar is beautiful Sound is beautiful but the intonation and setup is HORRIBLE
