Very happy with it
This is in my opinion a great deal of a guitar. Solid top and sides , spruce and maple construction. The action was great right out of box easy and fun to play. Sound quality could be a little more open/less thin more bass in my opinion but it's an Epiphone and I am happy with what I got for the money. Also built in electronics! Definitely recommended if you don't want to spend for the Gibson.
All I can say is "WOW!"
This instrument exceeded my hopes and expectations. It looks great, sounds great and plays great. I bought the instrument as a demo model that had what Sweetwater said was a blemish. Upon arrival and inspection, I found no blemish. Sweetwater and my sales engineer, Tyler Moore, have always delivered quality products and unsurpassed service. Thank you Epiphone, Sweetwater AND Tyler.
5 stars of greatness!
Love love love this beautiful creative of an instrument! The aged look has everyone checking it out when I go to perform at the local venues.
I bought the padded jumbo Gator case but don't really like it much. It does protect the guitar fine it's just to flexible and bending when placing the Epiphone inside .
So, I ordered the hard shell Epiphone case for it because this gem needs to be well taken care of.
I was sceptical about an online purchase for another guitar but I'm not at all disappointed.
Usually you'd want to pick it up and play it some before buying but this is my 2nd acoustic electric I have bought from Sweetwater and they do set them up nicely there.
Well worth $ !!!!!
I believe that I'm playing an actual Gibson when I perform with it.
My EF341SC Takamine was my first purchase from Sweetwater and it's been my workhouse up until I got this Epiphone J200 .
I've used it once in front of a live audience and I already know it will be my new workhorse!
Buy this thing if you really want a Nice J200 it will not disappoint.
Oh!!!!! The Fishman sonitone preamp has big kahonas as well.
Play on brothers & sisters!

I find it a well made guitar plays beautifully sounds great!
Stunned by the quality of workmanship
The Inspired By Gibson Epiphone J200 I received has the type of workmanship you would expect from a high end USA made acoustic. The bracing is clean and well done the fret work was perfect as was the action there was no signs of excess glue. The finish on the J200 is as nice as I have seen. I'm a little fussy about how the high end sounds but no problems with the J200 the high end is crystal clear no sharp notes. The bass is deep and the J200's overall sound is balanced. The neck smooth and fast but not to thin fits my size large hands very good the tuners are tight and it stays in tune. I like the vintage color of the J200 also. Having played for 57 years now I've seen many high priced guitars the IBG Epiphone J200 puts to shame.
You couldn't buy this guitar from me
I have owned this guitar for 9 months. I took it to a master luthier after I bought it who said he could not improve on the setup. He actually wanted to buy it from me. No deal. I don't know if they are all like mine, but you would have pay me enough to be able to afford the real thing from Gibson plus some.
Blond Beauty
I have owned too many guitars to count for the last 52 years of playing. This definitely qualifies as one of the best. Build quality is excellent and arrived set up perfectly. I can't say that about many of the instruments I have owned. Sounds really good with plenty of volume and very distinct sound in a mix. I did install John Pearse bluegrass strings for my listening pleasure. This is a lifetime keeper for me because it checks all the boxes that I look for in a guitar and it sits on the knee very comfortably. It is the best value that I have found in a new guitar.
Worth every penny!
I had read good things about the Epiphone Inspired by Gibson guitars and I was not disappointed when I got mine. Everything about it is First class from the quality craftsmanship to playability and sound. My J-200 is a stunner. The action was set right, no sharp fret ends, the neck is smooth and feels good in the hand and the finish is beautiful. Quality appointments such as real bone for the nut and saddle and Mother of Pearl for inlays. To my ear the guitar has a robust sound with great sustain, deep bass balanced well with the highs. Stays in tune really well.
The Epiphone J-200 is at a great price point for a quality made all solid wood guitar. And it's fun to play!
Great quality at a good price!
I purchased the aged natural gloss EJ200, and love this big bodied beauty!
It plays well, and sounds remarkable too! The neck feels comfortable, the fretting and crown inlays are easy on the fingers and a joy to look at!
I only wish it would have come with a soft case/gig bag, but it was superbly packed by Sweetwater and well protected!
Hats off to Epiphone/Gibson Musical Instruments!
Great value.
I purchased my j-200 from another retailer as a blemished model. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it as it plays better then both my Gibson acoustics (1965 lg-0 and 2016 J-45). It is quieter than I expected but still sounds great. Factory set up is solid and has a nice low action. Best part is the "blemish" was only a small rough patch on the neck in a the lacquer. Came right off with some still wool and car polish.

Epiphone J-200 New version of the king of flat tops
An all solid wood version of this beauty of a Jumbo acoustic electric has been a long time coming. Now that I own this guitar for a fith of the price of a Gibson. I have to say it well meets all the demands of a Gibson. Including the title Inspired by Gibson. And what a wonderful example. This instrument only lacks the made in the U.S.A. stamp that would make it cost 5 times more. All the other specs are so close it would be hard to tell the difference. This Jumbo Acoustic Electric is so similar I am proud to be the owner of such a quality instrument. This guitar is a lifetime keeper and a dream come true. Thank you Gibson.
It's not a Gibson j-200, but...
It's a beautiful guitar made of the same tone woods as the Gibson it was "inspired by." I'd rather have the $ Gibson, but I paid less than $ two years ago for this guitar, and it's among the best money I have ever spent. It is modeled to the specs of the Gibson, made with similar wood, and it shares acoustic quality with the Gibson, which is worth the $, if you have it.
50 years into the music
The only reason I'm not giving this review 5 stars is because Epiphone made installing the 9V battery extremely hard to accomplish.
The battery cord/hookup is dangling inside of the soundhole.
There's a small Velcro pouch that is glued inside the soundhole just under the end of the neck.
I like to never got a battery in it with the strings on.
The strings need to be off to really access it well!
So on conclusion to this issue, this means if the battery goes dead during a performance then you might as well go to your spare backup guitar.
Other than that , the guitar is quite beautiful and sounds great unplugged.
Can't wait to see how it sounds plugged into my gear.
I bought the gator gig bag made for this jumbo guitar. It's ok but not what I expected for $ which was marked down from a slightly higher price.
I've owned 4 j200 Epiphones in the past but this one plays and sounds the best thus far.
The quality is very good in the craftsmanship as should be for an inspired Gibson.
I do think Epiphone could benefit with giving a case along with these fine acoustic electric's.
I recently bought a PRS A60 e that came with its own case.
I also have a EF341SC Takamine that came with one, hard shell with both!
I mean I would've still purchased it for a little more bucks if the case was included.
I really hate when the marketing strategy is to get you to buy something else to help complete your instrument's safety .
I just believe that should be the company's priority to get the customer coming back for quality and craftsmanship, not just make an extra buck.
I know it's more cons than pros in my review but it seems to me that since the pandemic more and more companies are giving us less and asking for more.
But hey!
It's a great instrument!!!!
Well worth the $ and I'll make that back soon with my performances with this awesome guitar.
Happy playing!!!

Epi inspired by Gibson J-200
I own many guitars, including IBG Hummingbird, which I think is very good. The J-200 is the worst sounding guitar I have ever owned. The sound is very brash and tinny. I have tried changing the strings to Elxir phos. bronze and that didn't help. I can't understand the positive reviews. I must have gotten a bad one. The workmanship on the guitar is very good and the aged natural is quite the stunner in looks. I gave it 2 stars for build and appearance. Would sale it if I could.
