Incredible Feel, Tone, and Versatility

By Sweetwater Customer
Music Background: Gigging and studio musician

When I purchased this bass, it was going to be the first six string bass I have owned, and played. I am happy to say it is well worth the price for the amount of features, ease of playability, and build quality.

Features: these unique pick ups are quite warm in my opinion, with a very balanced sound that offers a clean baseline for your basslines. From there, tha ability to sculpt your sound with the 3 band pre-amp and variable mid sweep can craft more tones than I've ever had the pleasure of hearing in other onboard pre amps. The headless design and bridge tuners provide great balance when playing, and the chambered body takes some weight off your shoulder, literally, while improving the resonance greatly. Going back to the pick ups, I have tried adjusting the heights to create the single coil effect mentioned in the description and it was not a struggle at all. However, it would be considerably better if there was a push and lock system so you could adjust the height on the fly.

Ease of Playing: This neck is downright insane. If you are a fan of thin necks on your bases, you will love how this one feels. There is also no gloss on the neck, which allows sliding up and down it to feel seamless. I was able to get the action set up nice and low without any fret buzz, which is vital when I want to play technical passages and high demand songs. The fan fret system also took very little time to adjust to. And it allows for beautiful tension on the strings without needing a longer scale base.

Build quality: the bass just straight up feels like a premium instrument. However, my biggest gripe is with the plastic potentiometer knobs. I would much prefer them to be metal. The nut is also plastic, but in context it does it's job beautifully and with the headless tuning system it holds tune from gig to gig better than any bass I've ever used.

I would give it a 95% in satisfaction, and recommended it for bass players who have the funds to spare for either a 6 string, multi scale/fan fret bass, or headless bass. It covers all its bases exceptionally.
