Lovely guitar!

By Michael O. from Macungie, PA

This guitar plays and sounds like a dream! I made a few adjustments to fit how I like it and it's great! Excellent value for money. The color is unique and my wife says she thinks it's the most beautiful guitar in my collection. This one's a keeper for sure

Excellent Blues semi-hollow!

By Blind W. from Greater Seattle Area
Music Background: Blues guitar

This guitar may be my favorite guitar purchase ever. I loved everything about it. Being blind I could only imagine the figured body and Blueberry Burst looks. In my mind, it was a beautiful guitar. (I even bought a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 25 combo amp, which I had customized to look similar to the guitar.) I had it pleked and it played very well. I loved the '50s style--slightly chunky--neck. It felt very comfortable in my hand. I made the mistake of upgrading the pick-ups to Seymour Duncan Seth Lovers. The Seth Lover pickups are excellent, but I actually preferred the Alnico pickups that came stock with the guitar,. It is an amazing guitar for the Blues. The neck pick-up is both rich and deep, but not muddy. The bridge pick-up is bright but not shrill. I regret having to sell this guitar. As one gets older, however, and develops back trouble, the ES-335 can be a real burden. I ended up selling this guitar and purchased its little brother, the Epiphone ES-339. It uses the same pickups and has a 14" body length rather than the 16" used by this guitar. Otherwise they are very similar. They are both excellent Blues guitars. If you are considering a semihollow, think hard on the Epiphone ES-335/339. They are excellent choices.

Great guitar

By Sweetwater Customer

I wanted a 335 style guitar so I picked up the blue burst Epiphone. I'm not sure if it's not just this guitar but the fit and finish is outstanding. No sharp or high frets, just a nice straight neck. I added a Bigsby and a set of 9's and it plays nice. I even like the pickup's in it. They have that PAF or Pearly Gates sound and definitely don't sound cheap.

Great tone, great color

By Dan T. from ROANOKE, VA

I loved the look of this guitar as soon as I saw it. And in person it does not disappoint. Great finish. This is the first Epiphone I bought and it plays great. The tones are real bright and sounds great. Its body size took a bit to get used to as I typically have played smaller guitar bodies and I like to play sitting down. But definitely a great purchase. It shipped packed well and was ready to play with no set up necessary

Gorgeous

By David from WV
Music Background: Musician

I'm not a guitar critic so I think I'm easy to impress, but this thing sounds and looks beautiful. The neck is smooth and the action is lower than on any instruments I have ever bought. The tuners are really nice.

I just got it today so I might find a few things to nitpick over later but overall this is the best guitar I have ever played by far.

Awesome guitar and excellent service

By Michael C. from LAKELAND, FL
Music Background: Player of several instruments for 40 years. Played countless live shows from big to small. Rooted in blues with a chicken pickin tele background also.

I recieved this guitar and immediately started putting it through the paces. I was already prepared to replace tuners or pickupd or something to upgrade this guitar. But I am shocked at how well it sounds feels and plays. Stays in tune very well. Pickups sound really good. Could pickeps be upgraded? Sure. Is it necessary? No way. They sound really really good. Frets are level and smooth on edges. Action is low and playable right out of the box. Intonation was 100% spot on. No fret buzz. I ordered a tsa flight case that fits this guitar perfectly. Is it a Gibson? Probably not exactly but its not 2500.00 away from a gibson. This is a serious bang for the buck and with a few upgrades if you wanted to feel better about it, it would be amazing for a few hundred extra. Overall this this is resonate, pretty, sounds great plugged in, and buolt solid. I have one con. I dont like the finish on the neck as it feels tacky slightly. It will be getting a good scotch brite pad taken to it and all will great. If you are thinking about it. Buy it! Its a keeper.

Just beautiful! Excellent Price-Performance

By Ivan P.

I just received my new baby. First impressions: great quality for the cost, guitar feels excellent, it arrived almost perfect in terms of adjustments. I modifed it with a Bigsby/Vibramate termolo, easily and now looks even better. I am extremely happy. The guitar requires fret leveling over the 2nd string, and the pickups are not great to my taste, so I will work on that in the coming months, but to me this guitar is an excellent platform that worth to invest and bring it to a next level. Thanks Epiphone and Sweetwater!!

Not a Gibson, but very nice guitar

By Kenneth from TN
Music Background: Hillbilly guitar player

After 7 hours of acclimation, got julie out and we shook hands and started our journey together. I had forgot and didn't realize how easy an electric is to play, she plays great sounds good not as heavy as a gibson best i can recall, the setup is nice, will do another setup to my style after i learn more about setting an electric up(only held/ played electric one time til today a 61 reissue Gibson 335 told myself then I was having a 335)Went with the epiphone to give electric a go and here she is.If I continue to play an electric a Gibson 335 will come later, so be ready Matt, love it was a good purchase, would do it again. Shout out to Matt Stockburger the 1 and only person ever to call me after making an order [have bought from 3 other places wont say their real names but rhythms with ][gitcar winter and preverb, nutrition trends lol] just to see if i had any questions and gave me a rundown on my order, made sure I was good to go the man is on point, sweetwater can expect repeat business, do recommend buying a bag or case not included.

They did a good job on this one!

By Tere R. from MI
Music Background: 50 years guitar player and stage

I was hesitant at first in ordering this guitar as a player of Gibson 335s, but was not disappointed. The guitar arrived pretty much set up. Action was good, intonation slightly out. Some people don't like the pickups but they are decent and I will keep them in. The finish is superb and the Indian Laurel fret board is not bad at all! I love the smaller headstock vintage tuners. The color is a personal choice but the blueberry burst with some purple in it is gorgeous!

Fantastic value on a beautiful looking and sounding guitar

By Walt C. from Surprise Az
Music Background: Hobbyist

Was fortunate enough to get my hands on one of these gems. First of all they sound great no problems at all with the pick ups in my opinion. Great variety of tones attainable from this instrument.
Second this is one of the prettiest guitars I have ever seen, the pictures do not adequately show the real beauty of these instruments.
Just ordered a case for this beauty from Sweetwater, I cannot overstate the quality of the service I have received from Sweetwater and Cody Kraus in particular.

Fell short..

By Jonathan from Michigan
Music Background: Semi-professional

I got one of these with very high hopes. I used to own a Gibson 335 and have missed it very much. I heard the Epiphone models have really stepped up their game. While that is true of some Epiphone models, this one fell short of all my hopes. The color is BEAUTIFUL, but it had staining and finish issues in several spots. The f-holes especially, they looked like they were cut out in a hurry with a jigsaw then painted to hide the jagged edges. Where it really hurt was the fretwork. It came with high action, so I lowered it to my preference. It buzzed all over the place. No amount of truss-rod adjustment would fix it. The frets just were NOT level. Plus the pickups were very dull and lifeless sounding. So knowing I would need to have the frets filed/crowned/polished and upgrade the pickups, combined with the finish issues I just could not justify keeping it with how much $$$ I would have to put into it to get it where I wanted it. That's my experience, your mileage may very. Cheers!
