Solid workhorse
I purchased mine as a backline / loaner and it has not disappointed me or any artists who has played it yet. The feedback I get from artists is very positive regarding playability and tone. With 2 years of constant playing I haven't had to make any significant repairs and it still looks great. If you're in the market make sure you check this out, I'd easily throw it in against gear constant significantly more without hesitation.
Outstanding sound and playability
First business sell a service not just products Paul was a pleasure to deal with and a lot of help with this purchase
I was kept informed every step of the way
The guitar is a pleasure to play very handsome in appearance and outstanding sound
I love it!
This Js 200 guitar sounds amazing!
If you can't afford the gibson. This guitar can be your working horse country guitar!
Plays like a banshee!
I'm originally a bass player. Been a j-bass guy ever since I started playing. Love my Fender HWY 1, but I've always dabbled in guitar. Most of my friends growing up played guitar. I've always had a love for playing acoustic. Not you're typical campfire stuff. But just picking and feeling the vibe. I'm not one to justify spending $6k+ on an acoustic.. but getting this Epi with a Plek and full set up. Hot ****!! Feel like I'm Jamey Johnson or Jason Isbell opening up that case!! The action is PERFECT! The sustain, the warmth, it's ALL around everything I wanted without breaking the bank. If you're one for finger picking' this thing is your best bet. Plek, Set Up, get some Ernie Ball's slapped on there, and you're rockin' and rollin'. Fenders screams, Gibson's cry. But I think Gibson/Epiphone has Fender beat with the acoustic guitar game. Plus who doesn't love an awesome mustache?!
Phenomenal!
I can't believe how good this guitar sounds and feels! Whether I'm plugged in at church or unplugged at home this thing is such a joy to play. A must have for anyone who wants that Super Jumbo sound.
Very nice!
Great guitar for the money!
My DREAM guitar
I walked into my guitar store recently intentionally to go view and play the cutaway version with pickup of this guitar but then the salesperson pointed out that he had one on the wall without the cutaway and pickup and I instantly felt my heart race and said if I could have a play of it,as soon as I sat on a stool and began to hold it and strum it I knew right then and there that it was coming home with me,this beautiful guitar had to be mine.I absolutely love this acoustic and after many years of searching for that so called elusive guitar and changing so many,I now finally feel that I've found THE ONE and don't really feel the desire to ver change it again. This is my baby, whom I've named Maybelline.
OUTSTANDING
BEST SOUNDING GUITAR AND NOT ONE BLEMISH IN FINISH....BEST GUITAR EVER
Great guitar!
I'd bought a used EJ200CE in Vintage Sunburst from a local guy a few months back, and loved it, but decided to sell it and come pick up an SCE in Natural on my annual Labor Day trip to Fort Wayne. Alas, the last Natural Sweetwater had was sold within hours of my arrival! I came to buy a guitar, though, and Greg Baum was terrific to work with. I demoed the EJ and an AJ45ME he brought out for me, as well as a couple of Gibsons that were literally (way up high on display) and economically out of my reach.
For my money, that day, the EJ200SCE was the way to go, and it's just sounding even better the more I play it. Taking nothing away from the AJ45 - there is a difference with all solid top, back, and sides, plus the bone nut and saddle. But I love the looks of this one, and will probably upgrade the nut and saddle anyway. Plus, it just looks awesome to me -- understated it is not. As a player, I'm not much, but this one makes everything sound good and look good too. Thoroughly satisfied!
Wood From Wood
All I can say is WOW! I am so pleased with my new Epi. Perhaps it is the guitar, perhaps it is the 55 point inspection, perhaps it is luck. In the 35 years I have been playing guitar I have never had a more playable axe straight out of the box. Opening the box I was blown away by the quality, and the smell of maple! I hit my first open E and what can I say instant wood and immediately I fell in love with it. What a great axe I can't say it enough, and it should be at least double the price, but shhhhh don't tell anyone...wink wink.
Awesome
Great service
Much better than expected
Usually I wouldn't buy an acoustic guitar online, but this time we had to. After playing an Epiphone EJ-200SCE in a local guitar shop we were disappointed as it sounded simply terrible (don't know if it was because it was a display model or the strings, setup or whatever) and the store didn't have another in stock. Then we gave it a shot online at Sweetwater and felt comfortable with their 55-point inspection, customer service promises, etc. We received the guitar today and in real life it looks much better than in the photos and videos, ... it's a really gorgeous guitar.
The sound was also much better than expected (we watched many videos on YouTube and some sounded good, but many sounded a bit tiny and together with the local guitar-shop experience it made us a bit uneasy to purchase it). The setup out of the box was pretty good, although not perfect (I like very low action, but as with acoustic guitars I get the action can't be super low the way I like it), but the wife (who is the actual recipient of this guitar) said that she's fine with it, ... it's easy to play and sounded great.
Ruben at Sweetwater was very helpful and called us several times, also to keep us updated on the progress of our order, ... and he also sent several Emails to make sure we have peace of mind and we were in the know. Everything went well and we're happy. The guitar is a very good guitar for the price and again it looks gorgeous. It's definitely a keeper. BTW, I wouldn't pay 10x more for the original Gibson J200 ... just wouldn't make any sense. True, we found a few Gibsons and Martins for just below/around $2,000 and that we sampled which had a fuller, warmer and more resonant sound. If we were to spend that kind of money we would have chosen one of those, ... but for $... the Epiphone EJ-200SCE is a very good choice. Great workmanship too.
Ej200sce
I have been playing this for a week now, &I likely even more It's also a beautiful guitar. All in the family keeps commenting on it. Steve
Youll never regret with your money
I owned already two guitars but i would say that this guitar is a step up to an intermediate level. The first one was donated to our church and the other was given to my cousin which allegedly got lost. Having this guitar is considered as my main axe when it come to writing songs and recording videos. Youll never regret to have this. It is considered as a good investment considering the level of our common guitars in our country. Youll never regret to own one because rigjt from the box you have a solid spruce top, gorgeous maple in back and sides though its laminate, a gotoh rover tuners, beautiful pickguard and inlays plus the onboard pre amp which is good enough from its price point.
It jas beed 3 years when i bought the guitar and still ringing out its beautiful tones especially when i upgraded the saddle and nut to a bone material as my major upgrade of the guitar. Indeed, it has a very good sustain and the sound really ring out from its soundboard. You can feel the vibration of sound from the soindboard.I also lowered down the action of the strings to a have comfort when playing.
Apart from it, i add some acoustic guitar effects such as chorus, reverb and delays to add richness of sound. Definitely, the sound it produces has blown me away.
I really recommend this guitar as one of your main axe in music. Though i still have another guitars, one is custom shop from our locals and the other is a les paul acoustic custom also.
Over time, the guitar acquired some hairline scratches but it does not give much anxiety to me because it is being used from time to time. You may have wonder to have scratches in your guitar even it is not used for a long time. I considered scratches as a manifestation of your guitar that is ageing for time.
Best Jumbo for the Buck$
I have 3 Martins, a Fender Palomino, and dozen other acoustic flat top boxes, this EJ-200SCE rivals my best for an unbelievable full sounding Jumbo guitar. With a Rickenbacker type double cable outputs mono+stereo, add the Esonic2 pre-amp/tuner, a beautiful finish,(I got the sunburst). One hell of a get-fiddle for the money. I do recommend this as a first or to add to your collection. It is a fine guitar.
Best Bargain
Dollar for dollar this is one of the best instruments for your hard earned money. Excellent workmanship, sweet tone and great flexibility in pickup up options when plugging in.
The solid spruce top sings, my instrument's fit and finish was flawless. This is my second one and wanted to grab it since I heard that this model was being discontinued.
If you want an outstanding jumbo that gives the same tone and playability of it's much more costly Gibson model grab one before they are gone forever.
The Sweetwater team did an outstanding job of taking care of the instrument and my order. Thanks!
New Guitar
So I got a new Epiphone guitar from sweetwater. Well the electronic went out so I sent it back and they sent me a new one. It was electronic good, but the sound was not. So back to sweetwater. ( 2.5 hr. drive) When I got there Jac Pruett was there and went right to work to find how to make it all good. Jac took me to a young man, Craig Vineyard and he went right to work to find out wha the problem was. After a short time it was all taken care of. I will go there for all my musical needs from now on. It's worth the drive.
Wow
I was a little apprehensive buying on line but, I had read numerous reviews on this guitar, and took a leap of faith. Right out of the box I was impressed. The team at sweetwater contacted me and told me they set these guitars up prior to sale. Other than a slight tune down for shipping purposes, this guitar sounded great from the very first strum. I own several guitars (5) and this is by far my favorite. Whether playing unplugged or wired this quitar just blows my mind for the price. If you are looking for a quality 6 string and dont want to pay an arm and a leg; look no further. I would not trade mine for anything.
Epiphone EJ-200SCE
I have had this guitar for a while. I wanted some time with it to really assess the performance. The EJ is an amazing instrument. Played as an acoustic it is a cannon, with booming lows without losing the high harmonics. Amplified, it suits virtually and genre of music, and the electronics are versatile and state-of-the-art. I might say this is a great instrument "for the price", but it is a great instrument without even considering the price. As usual the experience with Sweetwater was seamless and a pleasure. Of course, I will continue to do business with Sweetwater.
EJ200SCE is fantastic
Always wanted the Gibson J200 after I sold my old Harmony Souvereign Jumbo 24 years ago but when I saw this gem a few months back I loved it immediately. My only reservation was that it wasnt solid wood on the back and sides and it was maple not mahogany. Unplugged it sounds really good for not having solid wood back and sides as the solid spruce top helps warm up the brighter maple sound. You can't beat a jumbo for full a beautiful sound. I love the neck width and what epiphone did with the nice cosmetic touches. The nano flex/mag system is very flexible and sounds really good plugged into my fender acoustic amp. The crew at Sweetwater had it setup and ready to go. I didn't need to do any adjustement to the action once I got it. I may switch out the Daddario light gauge strings for some Elixir PB lights or mediums but I prefer those.
Unbeatable for the price!
This Epiphone guitar is great! I have played the Gibson jumbo, and this one sounds as good at a tenth of the price. I play it through a Fishman loudbox mini, and it sounds as good as any acoustic I have ever heard. I stand by Sweetwater as one of the best companies i have ever done business with. Thanks to Tyler, my sales engineer for his help in the selection of this guitar.
Great Epiphone -- Worth Every Penny!
I received my Epiphone EJ-200SCE in the beautiful Vintage Sunburst finish yesterday. While I have only had the guitar for about 24 hours, I am already extremely happy with it -- and first impressions are everything with a new guitar. The construction, fit and finish are very high quality and are more than I would expect in a guitar in this price range. The neck profile is a bit chunky, which I like, and is smooth as silk up and down the fretboard. The guitar has a very rich projection when played unplugged, and highs and lows are very balanced and discernible to my ear. When plugged into my Roland AC-60 acoustic amp, the guitar really shines. The onboard electronics are very high quality, and provide many tonal options. I was concerned that the guitar would be big and bulky, since it is a "jumbo" acoustic-electric; however, it feels very comfortable overall. I truly consider this to be a very worthy little brother to its Gibson big brother. Thanks to Mark Magdich for his continued excellent customer service.
Epiphone EJ-200CE
I recently bought an Epiphone EJ-200, mainly because of the beauty of the guitar and the fact that I just could not afford a Gibson jumbo (my dream guitar} but I did not expect an instrument of this quality. I had recently added an Epiphone Sheridan to my collection that I was absolutely thrilled with but did not have the same expectations of the EJ200,I was wrong! This guitar came to me perfect in every way. I have been playing guitar sense the mid 60s (still don't consider myself a good guitar player) but that's another story. The neck action on this guitar was a really big surprise. Action is low from top to bottom and intonation is right on. Neck is thin-line and a perfect fit for me. The quality of the construction of the EJ200 is exelent and very much in line with high end USA made guitars. Tone seems to be a little brighter than a Gibson Jumbo but other than that it is perfect. I am thinking now that I should add an Epiphone Master-built to my collection. Don't discount this guitar before you play it',that would be a big mistake.
Best sounding guitar I've ever owned
The Epiphone EJ-200 arrived in pristine condition, perfectly set up and intonated. I was attracted to this guitar after seeing Dave Pirner from Soul Asylum and Jesse Valenzuela from Gin Blossoms always playing the Gibson J-200 but did not have $4,000 to shell out, so decided to opt for this. What a great choice! This guitar, equipped with Grover tuners, an on-board tuning system and dual pickups is elevated by its solid spruce top. It sounds great now, but wait until it ages! The highs are crisp, but being a jumbo, the lows are rich and bassy. It sounds like a vintage guitar that's been ages for decades. Do not hesitate to purchase this!
Epiphone EJ-200sce-Vintage Sunburst
Excellent looking and sounding jumbo. The e-sonic 2 with magnetic & under saddle p/u's is really great sounding in stereo. I own one of each, Natural, Black & Vintage Sunburst. I removed the pick guard from the V/S, to me that guitar does'nt need a flowery pick guard. And truly looks a lot more classic with it off. You can't beat these guitars for the price!. Especially since they now have Solid Spruce Tops and have always played easily & look just as good or better than the Gibson SJ-200. Especially that crazy dual pick guard. The one they call the "The Bob Dylan Autograph". Bob would not even walk on stage with that goofy looking thing.I have been lucky too my wife has managed my career for the last 23 years and she is a New Yorker and sharp as at wheelin & dealin. We have seen the country playing music. I also own at 20 plus nice acoustic electrics, it would be hard to play this EJ-200 every night, it is not exactly a light guitar.

Incredible For The Price
I received the guitar in March and usually wait at least six months to write a review on any purchase However, this guitar has exceeded all my expectations. Great sound and tone as an acoustic or plugged into my Vyper amp.
I love it and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a quality instrument at an affordable price. .Also, you can't go wrong purchasing any gear from Sweetwater. This baby was set up and ready to play out of the box . Special thanks to my sales engineer Marianne Shirley for assisting me with all my gear purchases. Everyone at Sweetwater was most helpful even when I had to return an item.
Outstanding
Originally bought this guitar on one of the online Giants. Cut through the chase it was a terrible experience and I ended up getting refunded for the purchase after several exchanges. I then decided to call Sweetwater. I thought about maybe buying the next model up from Epiphone. After talking with my sales engineer several times Paul Eckert, he assured me that Sweetwater goes above and beyond in checking out their guitars to make sure everything is what you would expect if you were there in person. He said I will not have the same issue I had with the other online purchase. I thought about it the next day and decided to call back and pull the trigger one more time. Paul was not there but another sales engineer Brandon Miller promptly called me back. I got the same assurances from him and we quickly processed the order late Friday afternoon. Unbelievably the guitar got shipped out Friday night and was at my door Saturday. I'm only one state away but still impressive. The guitar itself, unbelievable for this money I can't believe how good it sounds. Put it through an amp and it's unbelievable. It plays super and required no setup from me. Is it the Gibson at $ plus? No.. but I'll tell you for this price it's truly amazing. I do say that Epiphone knows acoustic guitars. It's absolutely beautiful and a pleasure to play as a matter of fact I can't put it down. It's it's good to know that there's still customer service alive and well in today's world. Thanks Sweetwater and hats off to your sales engineers.
Couldn't be happier
I purchased this guitar for the same reason most probably have or will: I simply cannot afford a Gibson SJ-200. It's just not in the current cards for me. After discovering this financially suitable alternative, I expected it to come in and feel as such, but I was blown away. The playability, feel, sound, quality, finish, look of this guitar far exceeds its selling price. With a big sound and smooth feel, it's more than what I was looking for. I did not expect to receive as high quality of an instrument as I did. I feel it could pass for a Gibson any day. Not only that, but my purchase experience with Sweetwater was just as pleasant. Frank Gerdts went above and beyond to assist me and satisfy my needs as a customer. I couldn't be happier with my overall purchase and purchase experience. A+ Sweetwater!
MY NEW GUITAR....
I have always wanted a EJ-22 Jumbo Acoustic Electric and now I have one! It's all and more than I ever expected. When I got it from Sweetwater, it was in perfect condition and ready to play right out of the box! Thank you Sweetwater for being there for us...
Thanks again and God Bless....

the best place to buy!
Epiphone EJ-200SCE
Great guitar! Excellent setup.
How to get a great acoustic sound recorded
There's nothing quite like the sounds you get from a jumbo acoustic guitar. The EJ-200SCE is rich, full, and balanced. I would have thought a jumbo acoustic would have a tendency to be bassy and boomy, but that is nowhere to be found here. This guitar excels at everything you throw at it. Whether it be standard tuning, Drop D, or playing with a capo, the EJ-200SCE just does it all so well.
Where this guitar really excels is when plugged in to some inputs recording sounds. In my opinion the under saddle NanoFlex pickup is the star of the show. The NanoMag captures the sound at the neck, and is not as sensitive as the NanoFlex. You'll want to use both outputs when recording as using the mono option for both pickups is less flexible and doesn't sound as good as when using both outputs. I plugged in each output into its own channel and noticed the NanoMag is a bit quieter than the NanoFlex. To capture some great acoustic sounds, you'll need a mic either picking up some room sounds or up close near the body. Blend all three sources together and you have the recipe for some great acoustic guitar. EQ and pan...you'll be surprised at the results.
If you plan to amplify this guitar a Planet Waves Screeching Halt or something like it will be a necessity. Otherwise it will be feedback city.
The jumbo size body is surprisingly not uncomfortable nor unwieldy. It settles in nicely and the sounds you get from this guitar are hard to beat. The fit and finish of this guitar is top notch, and while not flawless it nonetheless is an amazing deal at this price point. The synthetic bone saddle is a nice touch, although I will be upgrading the nut.
In short, this guitar is highly recommended and at this price it's a no-brainer.
I Love, Love, Love my EJ-200!
I shopped and shopped for an acoustic electric online and for the price, I do not believe there could be a better playing and sounding guitar. In addition, Sweetwater has the best customer service I have ever witnessed for an online company. Chris is great!
Excellent Quality
Had this guitar a couple of months now - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the workmanship. I can tell you the set-up from Sweetwater is excellent. The action is great, no buzzing whatsover. Great price. The electronics are great too. Thanks to Matt at Sweetwater for hooking me up with this!

Awesome guitar....won't find more guitar for $400, and sweetwater sales and customer service are the best in the buisness axe was perfect out of the box. 5stars absolutely 100 percent satisfied...definitely worth the wait.
I was completely caught off guard with this guitar. It has warm deep tone.
Flawless finish, coupled with really nice inlay and Grover tuners.
Don't be afraid of the jumbo body, (not that much bigger than a dreadnaught.) and gives this axe it's smooth personality. I want to take a moment to thank Sweet waters sales associate Paul Rowan for his input
on the guitar. Their set up was perfect. Tuned out of the box, perfect action,
intonation, and polished like a diamond. I've never played a Gibson J200
and I'm sure the woods make a difference, but for the money, I have never been so satisfied with an acoustic that sounds this great. Guess
we will call it the poor man's Gibson. Take the opportunity and play one
for yourself. This is my first electric acoustic. Through my Two acoustic
brand amps I now play in stereo. Add a touch of reverb and you've got a sweet studio sound for recording. You have to order a jumbo size case for this one. Sweet-water sells an epiphone for 99.00 bucks.
I commend this guitar with five stars from Sweet Water. ( Larry in Mo. )
Everything I hoped for and then some
The guitar is flawless. Straight out of the box, perfect set up, thank you Sweetwater.
I am a novice player, this is my step up from my learner guitar. The tone is wonderful, its so easy to play, I cannot put it down.
I plugged into my peavey vypyr amp and loved the sound even more. My poor Yamaha hollow body will be taking a back seat there.
I actually got my hands on a Gibson sj200 a few days ago at my local store. I was expecting guitar envy etc., but left thrilled. It was probably badly set up and might have had crap strings but in all honesty I really felt I have the better guitar. And the price difference......
If there is one niggling thing it would be the pickguard; the EJ has a sticker and the Gibson had a really chunky well made solid piece. Apart from that, my Epiphone EJ-200 is amazing!
The most beautiful guitar...
I bought this guitar for my boyfriend because it was recommended by my sister, who's a musician, and I have no regrets. First of all, the guitar finish is absolutely beautiful and the sound is extraordinary. (And we haven't even plugged it in yet!) My boyfriend hasn't been able to put in down since it came in 3 days ago!! On top of that, our personal sales rep, Adam, was on top of everything from the first minute our order was placed. The customer service is outstanding, to say the least! I have never been happier or satisfied with a purchase. Ever. Sweetwater and its staff have earned a customer for life...
Epiphone EJ-200CE - Vintage Sunburst
I use a Mustang II as the amp for this guitar and it sounds Fantastic!
Its hard to beleive how good this guitar sounds for 399.00.
Totally happy! Workmanship is top notch!
Fat bottom girl is rockin' my world
I am primarily a bass player so, when I was choosing a new acoustic (for home, songwriting, and solo shows), I wanted something with some volume and gusto. The EJ-200ce did not disappoint! As a smaller, female musician, I was concerned at first about the body size of this guitar but she fits just fine, very comfortable. The neck is also comfortable and the tuning machines are great, doesn't slip out of tune even after some rough playing. She's well made too, particularly for the price. The binding is smooth and her fancy bits (inlay, pick-guard, etc.) are well applied. The onboard electronics aren't clunky either, well positioned and light.
This guitar will definitely get folks' attention, I might add! I saw/heard one at a local acoustic show and I just couldn't get it out of my head (to the point where I had to buy one myself). Classic looks and a big ol' country sound that transfers nicely for folk/rock as well. Having worked in a guitar shop, I would say this guitar seems to project a bit more than most so she'll definitely cut through with a band but her tone is very balanced as well. That solid spruce top makes a world of difference!
Sweetwater's customer service is nothing short of fantastic! Within hours of placing my order, I received a call to confirm it along with some info about when it should arrive, how it's checked out before it ships, etc. Mark was very friendly and helpful, definitely knew his stuff! I was blown away when I received pictures of my new baby via email that week as well. It definitely built up the anticipation that much more!
Overall, I had a fantastic experience ordering from Sweetwater and this guitar is a keeper, a lot of fun. Definitely my go-to now!
A Great Deal
I bought this made in Indonesia Epiphone some two months ago now and have held off writing a review until I could really get the feel of it. Cutting directly to chase, I am truly amazed that any guitar I could buy at this price could be of such a high caliber.
Honestly.
I have 44 years experience playing, over 40 of those professionally.
I have played every style from light lounge jazz, to gutbucket blues, to grinding punk rock, to polite traditional folk, country and bluegrass.
I have owned at one time or another dozens of acoustic (both steel string and nylon), Fenders, Gibsons, Ibanez, Taylor, Cordoba, and several other brands.
The Epi EJ 200 stands apart as the single finest acoustic in its price range I have ever owned.
On opening the shipping container I was struck by its beautiful appearance. The sunburst was applied perfectly, there was no globbing or streaking in the finish anywhere, there are no stray glue marks, the guitar looked as perfect as any high end guitar I have ever owned.
Pulling it out of its box I was struck by the sheer heft of the instrument. I was expecting a fairly flimsy and light instrument, but this felt truly solid.
The familiar mustache bridge looked great as did the crown inlays up and down the neck and headstock.
Honestly it seemed that the only aesthetic flaw for me was the cheesy fake J200 pickguard, but 10 minutes with my wife's hair dryer and it was gone leaving a thoroughly gorgeous glassy and uniform finish.
I can't speak directly to Epiphone's factory set up, but what I got from Sweetwater was a truly perfect set up. I have made no adjustments to what came out of the box except for the pickguard removal and swapping over for a set of .013 strings. The factory .012 set is just too light for me.
Now I won't lie and say that the tone of the guitar is better than many other guitars I own, or have owned, but it certainly is the best I've heard for any guitar at this price point I have owned. It's got a great even balance across all 6 strings with a sweet high end and a good healthy low end growl.
I use it for strumming, flatpicking, Travis picking as well as bare fingerpicking. It took a couple of days to build up a bit heavier callouses on my right hand, but now it's just fine.
The action is low enough for easy fretting, and just high enough for slide work (bottleneck or brass) as well.
The electronics are very good. In fact I prefer the electronics on the Epi to the factory installed Fishman gear on the Gibson J200 by far. They are very well balanced with a heaping helping of low end tone and none of the tinniness I hear in so many other acoustic/electrics.
Just for fun I enjoy running the dual outputs through two separate amps, each with different tone and effects settings to enjoy a truly wild stereo effect.
I originally bought this guitar for a lot of outdoor and rustic gigging I do in fairly intense and unpredictable weather that I don't care to subject my finer instruments to. I have no doubt the Epiphone is up to the task.
In fact this has become my go to sofa guitar as well.
The bottom line? Not only is this the very finest Epiphone acoustic I haver played, it easily matches and outplays several other guitars costing quite a bit more.
I will say however that the Epiphone case I bought with the guitar is just so-so. It's not very well constructed and the latches only barely match up for easy closure. Maybe I ought to have sent it back, but I would recommend spending a few extra dollars for a well built TKL case instead.
Thanks to Sweetwater and Jim Cooper for a nice deal on a very nice guitar.
A great guitar!
I bought the original EJ-200 which was made in Korea and had a laminate top and no electronics or cutaway. It was a stunner on looks, but so-so on tone. This newer model is GREAT. With a solid Sitka spruce top, cut away and two shadow pickups, it has fantastic tone and killer looks as well. I use it to record and am very pleased with the tone I hear in the play backs. It is as good as any Gibson, Taylor or Martin. I use it to record the rhythm tracks that back my mandolin for church praise and worship songs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I love this guitar!
I bought this guitar a year ago and have fell in love with it. I play a few small bars and bonfires and it more than holds it's weight. I love the on-board tuner. The only problem I've had with it is that the flowers, which are painted on the pick guard, have worn off from strumming. If your are looking for a good guitar to do small gigs with, this is it!
Looks and plays great!
The EJ-200CE is a great sounding guitar. This is a great value. The sound is big. The tuner works great. The intonation is spot on. The electronics sound good and are easy to use. I bought this guitar through Sweetwater because I knew it would arrive in perfect working condition.
Love a maple Jumbo
I received this guitar a few months ago. I let it acclimate for a day. Inspected when unboxing and all seemed well. I just ran thru a few open chords and put it up. It was a few days before I had time to really sit with it and play the entire neck. It was fretting out on the treble side but not the bass. I looked down the neck and there appeared to be a slight twist. I am used to working on guitars in this price range that require a little TLC but feared I would do more harm than good. The tech team at Sweetwater sent me a return label and I returned it. They decided to send me a new one. I had to wait about a month for more to come in as I had purchased the last one they had. No problem. This one arrived perfect. Very pleased with this guitar so far. Thank you Brandon and the team for taking care of the issue as promptly as was possible.
Great guitar
I have played guitar for over 50 years. I have owned Martin, Takamine, D'Angelico, and others. When I was browsing in my local store playing different instruments, I noticed this guitar and asked to play play it. I was smitten at the first strum. The sound resonates so well and it is a joy to play. And with Sweetwater, the money I save with the pre-order, I was able to purchase the Epiphany case. Thanks at Nick and his team for making this purchase because I was informed al along the way as to the status of its arrival.

Great deal!
What a great git-box! I picked it up for outdoor gigs (I've had great luck with Epiphones holding up in damp conditions). The electronics are great too (although I noticed that the neck pup is pretty sensitive to being hit by the pick) - and that's why I wanted to post a review: There are two output jacks on this guitar. You need to run a stereo cord to take advantage of this - but NOT a TRS plug - TWO 1/4" plugs. I didn't see any explanation of this, so I thought I would put it out there, just in case someone else is as blonde as I am. I run through a stereo compressor and delay, then to the board on two separate channels. I pan them hard to the left and right, with slightly different settings - nice spread of sound!
epiphone ej-200sce
Received guitar in perfect condition. Did not have to have it set up plays beautiful. I have five guitars and would rate this one as the best to play love it.
Great Guitar!
I've used this guitar for 2 years now and I've brought it all over the USA with me. It has been an awesome guitar to learn from and continues to sounds better and better every day I play it.
Sounds like a 93' J-100 Xtra
Yeah - that's the sound I was looking for...Out of the box it needed a setup - no big surprise there. Tightened the truss rod and left the cover off, sanded down the saddle a wee bit, cleaned up the frets with 0000 steel wool and applied a small amount of linseed oil to the fretboard, threw some good strings on and put in bone bridge pins. The sound is large with a big mid-bottom end and an even sparkle across the strings...wasn't expecting this.
I've tried enough Gibsons to know I will never get the sound I got before I sold my j-100 Xtra, but this comes closer than any other acoustic I've tried. Nothing against the Gibson J200, but I just can't be taking chances with $.
love it
This is one really good guitar in the price range it can't be beat
Excellent
Always wanted a nice looking guitar... but after playing the Epiphone EJ-200CE for the first time... it was unbelievable! Not only did I have a nice looking guitar... but also a bad ass playing guitar. It plays great and has a rich sound that leaves everyone wanting to hear more. Great guitar... would recommend it to everyone!!
Great guitar, I'm happy with my choice.
An honest cost for at what it offers
epiphone EJ200CE
I have 7 electric guitars. I thought way not try an acoustic, so I purchased a epi Dave NAVARRO and I was very happy with it> hen I saw the EJ .200 jumbo so I called TJ ..my rep . When the guitar arrived I was blown away. this guitar looks and sounds like a 1000 dollar guitar. I do not care where it was made, this guitar playes and sounds every bit as good as an American made guitar.. Sweetwater is the very best on line dealer you can find. I have ordered several guitars and a couple amps from them and have never been sorry. thank you and you will keep getting business
Great guitar
The Epiphone EJ 200 is a fantastic guitar.

Big Guitar Big Sound
I love the tones from this guitar. Well made. Remember it's a jumbo not a dreadnought so the size difference is significant. I can't find anything wrong with this guitar. I appreciate my sales rep Tyberius. He always manages to put a good instrument in my hands.
just got one
I had read some bad reviews but was pleasantly surprised
good quality with a big sound. I recommend this. a jumbo
sound at good price. get the case its worth it.
great sound..crappy pickguard
I played this guitar in the store while waiting for them to bring up the guitar I had come to buy (a Takamine..same price range). I played everything on the wall from $2700 Gibsons and Martins ( although no other jumbos) to Fenders and Taylors. As soon as I played this jumbo I told the salesman to forget the Takamine..I wanted that bell-like sound and an action that was perfect on the Epiphone . HOWEVER,,,who the hell put that crappy looking "pickguard " on there? Made the guitar look like a childrens guitar. Luckily it peeled right off like the sticker it was..leaving the finish perfect. Just do it slowly.Nice electronics too.
Great Guitar for the money (or twice the money)
I bought the EJ-200CE in order to round out the range of frequencies I can get when recording acoustic guitar. I use my Taylor when I need the acoustic to cut through the full band sound, but it sounds a bit thin when I am playing tracks where the acoustic is the feature instrument. The EJ-200CE has a nice rich, fat, sound. The intonation on this guitar may actually be better than that of my Taylor which cost more than twice as much. The dual pickups allow for a wide range of tones when plugged into the PA. The price scared me at first, because I thought to myself "how good could it really be for $400." But I was pleasantly surprised. It plays more like a $700-$800 guitar. The only problem I experienced with the guitar was the Low E was buzzing really badly when I first received the guitar from Sweetwater, but that probably had to do with two days on a FedEx truck and the different humidity between Indiana and Chattanooga. I made about a 1/4" turn on the truss rod, and the buzz is almost completely gone. I may have to sand down a fret of two, but really that is a small trade-off for such a fine instrument for the money. I am very pleased with the purchase. Heads up though - it does not come with a gig bag or case. I am currently looking for one that will fit the Jumbo body.
Terrible electronics
I really like this guitar. It plays nice, the tone is excellent, and it stays in tune. The electronics and wiring are complete garbage, and getting a strap that fits the giant pin/jack is difficult. My preamp was bad right out of the box. Only one of the pickups would put out sound. I sent it back to sweetwaters to be repaired. While it's nice that they took care of it, I was without my guitar for a couple months. The next issue I had was a loose wire. It was vibrating against the soundboard, and was pretty annoying. Now I'm past the 2 year warranty and the electronics are messed up again. I can't use this guitar on stage, because I can't trust that it will work.
I don't hear it!
It's a nice looking guitar. Seems to be put together good. But volume wise and tone wise it just doesn't have it. I changed saddles both bone & tusq ,strings with Gibson J200 &Santa Cruz. Had a slight improvement but no where near my EJ200S. sound.. I realize it's a cheap knockoff but I expected more. So as much as I would like to give it a good review I can't .
Buyer Beware
If you live in a northern region with cold winters and low humidity, you must pay close attention to the room humidity. Unlike my other guitars, the necks are prone to warping in the Minnesota winters.
Nice guitar when it works
I loved this guitar for the first few months. But now some time has passed, and I'm realizing that it is unplayable more often than it is playable. I live in Colorado where the winter produces very cold temperature and very low humidity. The Low humidity has ruined the neck on this and the epiphone hummingbird pro that I also bought this year.
I've spent a small fortune trying to rehumidify them, but to no avail. I've never had this issue with any of my other 20 guitars. Yeah, I have 20 guitars, but unfortunately for me, 5 of them are epiphones.
I've gone from being a huge Epi fan to being a cautionary tale so that others don't get ripped off by these seemingly low priced guitars. $399 is a lot to pay for kindling.
