Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1962 ES-335 Reissue Semi-hollow Electric Guitar - '60s Cherry Reviews
Guitarists around Sweetwater are excited to see Epiphone paying tribute to a distinct double-cut classic a la the Gibson Custom Shop — but with a model year that the shop doesn’t offer! Meet the 1962 Gibson ES-335 Reissue, a delightfully faithful yet humbly priced tribute to the notable historic offering over six decades its senior. Functional and stylistic elements reminiscent of this model year appear throughout, including its unique combination of rounded cutaways, small block inlays, and slimmer neck profile. It's structured just like the original, too, donning that classic 3-ply semi-hollow build of maple-poplar-maple. Classic ES-335 controls apply as well, accompanying a versatile duet of smooth and rich Gibson Custombuckers. The 1962 Gibson ES-335 Reissue is all but tied up with a bow thanks to the final hardware ornamentation of DLX keystone-style tuners and an ABR-1 historical reissue bridge with a proper stopbar tailpiece to match.

Epiphone ES-335 aftermarket mods
Been looking for a ES-335 style guitar and the Epiphone is the one. Compares quite well to the Gibson counterpart for a fraction of the money. It has the right amount of sustain and that class ES-335 sound. Upgraded the tailpiece and installed a Nashville bridge made a huge difference in the intonation. Highly recommend. Had my guitar tech do a complete setup to my liking and this guitar really sings. I would like to thank Nick at Sweetwater great service as always.
Top of the line
This 335 is Epiphone's top of the line in quality!
The Sweetwater 55 point inspection gives peace of mind when it comes to set-up!
The finish is superb and the PAF-insprired pick-ups sound big and warm!
Highly recommend this Epiphone...!!

Custom 335
Just what I wanted, plays like a charm. I ordered online then Andy called me I told him how I wanted it setup. He had a complete setup done on it and it plays Great. Can't go wrong with a Epiphone 335 inspired by Gibson. Look just like the Gibson without the big price. Love it Andy!

Love this Guitar!
With only 1 semi hollow body in the stable and 5 solid bodies I was on the hunt for a 335 style guitar after my buddy grabbed a new Heritage 335.
I play upside down so I bought a lefty model and Sweetwater did the new nut, bridge adjustment and set up for me which came out perfect. The lefty model only comes in red so that's what I have. I really like the vintage paint choice they made, not so glossy.
I can't say enough good things about this guitar. It's substantial, weighty and very well made with excellent hardware and electronics. The pickups alone are worth buying this guitar, this is now easily my favorite and most versatile sounding instrument.
I was afraid the neck may be too chunky for my taste but it's actually quite comfortable and very easy to navigate up its length. The body fits perfectly and balances effortlessly. No playing fatigue.
Very nice custom case with padded interior and Sweetwater's amazing customer service, luthier shop and packing/shipping made it a perfect purchase. They make this same model half the price of this one and one over $ (although I don't see how they could make it three times nicer than this one) Highly recommend!

An exquisite guitar worth every penny, with a sweet tone in the neck and a more rock-oriented aggression in the bridge that makes it incredibly versatile. I'm more than satisfied with this guitar, which finally gives me the exact sweet tone I've been searching for in an ES-335, with a slightly edgy, absolutely vintage touch in every note. These Gibson alnico 3 pickups are truly exceptional, and the guitar's construction is superb. Congratulations to the folks at Epiphone and, of course, to Gibson.
Epi 1962 ES-335 custom shop
Had this for about 2 weeks. Compared the specs of this to the Gibson 1964 custom shop on Sweetwater and for the most part the electronics are identical. Same PU's, Pots, one ptece mahogany neck and PIO caps. If your reseaching this you know the specs. All premium components.
What I would like to touch on is build quality. I was pleasantly suprised. All the joints and bindings are perfect. Can't see or feel any steps or mismatches. Very well done! The rosewood fretboard is beautiful. It has a very tight grain, a nice dark color and no voids. Mother of pearl inlays were set to perfection. I could not find a trace of filler material. Craftsmanship is next level. The Gibson 1964 actually uses a cellulose nitrate inlay material, not MOP. Hmmm! The 60's neck shape on this guitar is practically, if not identical to my Gibson Les Paul Standard 60's. Love it! The finish treatment was an initial concern but after opening the case that all quickly went away. No it's not nitro, but it does give that nitro custom shop vibe. I think it looks fantastic. The included case is also really nice.
All I can say is that you are getting a high end guitar for a resonable price. Ya it's on the high end of the Epi price range but I can assure you it's well worth it. It's every bit on par with my Gibson ES-339 figured top in blueberry burst.
Knowing that it has all the other premium features I went the extra mile and had Sweetwater PLEK it, install a bone nut and put on 9/42 strings. They also broke the corners on the nut and did a setup per my request. No fret buzz here. Talk about playing good out of the box. They did great job! Hats off to the folks in that dept. This instrument is a true player. I highly recommend trying it.

fit and feel are great. i have the VS and i kinda like the satin finish. it's not satin like the 2014 Gibson 335 i owned but it doesn't have that thick Epi gloss finish either. that's a plus. i'm still getting used to the pickups. playing thru a Fender Blues DLX with some pedals. i don't gig and i'm strictly a home player. i've owned several 335's (mostly Gibson) but i like this for what it is and you can't beat the price.
A Good Guitar
Worth every dollar.
Fantastic guitar. Buy it. You will not be disappointed.
Fit and finish is great. The Gibson Custom Shop humbuckers are creamy, crunchy, mellow. I just hope someday they release a ES339. If they do, I'll buy it immediately.
This satisfies my desire for a Gibson 335
I've never played a Gibson 335. However, I've played and owned many Gibson guitars and previously owned an Epiphone 335 (traditional pro ii, I believe).
I like this one a lot. The only thing it needs is the nut needs a slight bit of work on the g string slot as it binds up a bit but that isn't unexpected for an import guitar and isn't anything difficult for me to deal with. Everything else is great. The pickups sound phenomenal and maybe the only better sounding humbuckers for me are the new PRS Core 85/15 LTs. I do wish the volume knobs had a bit more range. It seems like anything below 5-6 is just too quiet.
