Super light and easy to play. Beautiful

Fantastic little travel and couch guitar.

By Justine from Boulder, CO on May 2, 2022

After purchasing one of Travelers acoustics from a friend, I decided to take the plunge and purchase Sweetwater's exclusive from Travelers. Extremely pretty to look at. I have been looking for an electric to pull out and jam on whist lying on the couch and to travel cross country with along with my micro Orange Amp and cabinet. Well those that want a fantastic couch guitar won't be disappointed with this one.

The sound is pretty fantastic through both my micro orange and Mesa Boogie Nomad 45. Add some of your fav effects and it is a game changer. I had issues with the G string not staying in tune but discovered the strings weren't property stretched. Out of the box aside from the G string, it has been fantastic. I've played it every day. It does have limitations with only one pick up, an ESP but very nice non the less and operates on volume and 1 tone knob. You don't get deep base sounds from the base strings out of it unless you add effects pedals. I've been using a Mooer black truck with it and it sings with those effects.

There are several detractors. The main one is where the tuners are located. Large hands will have an issue attempting to tune it but it wouldn't be a traveling guitar if it wasn't compact. The other is the leather hanging strap on the end. It is held in place by a zip tie of all things. Eventually, the leather will dry out and break in dry climate conditions and I don't have to comment on the zip tie. For an $+ price tag, it's an extremely cheap method of providing a hanging mechanism and the reason I give it 4 stars.

The perfect travel guitar

By Daniel from Lebanon Oregon on February 2, 2022 Music Background: Intermediate player

So, let me begin off by telling you about myself.
I am a trucker by trade, guitarist by nature.
I did long haul for give or take six months. Pulling the Gibson les Paul put every time and plugging into an amp was a tedious job and almost never happened due to it being extrenuous.
I became a day cab driver, so local home every night. I cannot bring a full size with me. So the next best thing is this travelers guitar that has a built in pre amp and the ability for me to plug headphones into and play while I wait for a load of chips at our local mill.
So it's not perfect (what really is)
Your gonna get more comments on its beauty and amazing compact ability.
Pros: it's size
Undeniably portable, and it's made to withstand quite a bit. The guitar itself is one of the main reasons I bought it for it's beauty alone.
The pre amp to headphone option helps me out a lot I'm not having to bring a portable amp to work.
Cons: if your thinking of writing music right off this into an interface, think again. The crunchiest amp on this is sadly poor quality. When put into the radio on my truck it's decent at best. But the point of this is to give you something to jam on until you get home and can pull out the amp and les Paul. It's to get you by.
Really that's the only con.

Overall 4 out of 5.
If the pickups with the pre amp to headphone had sounded a little harder and better for the style I like to play I'd give it a five. But if you just need a beauty to take to work or on the road without all the cords and what haves you, this is an amazing guitar. I give Sweetwater 5/5 though. Love you guys

Sadly it won't stay in tune

By Chris from Phoenix, AZ on January 17, 2023 Music Background: Been playing for over 20 years, 3 of those as a performing musician

I bought this guitar around September of 2022

The Good:

Great sustain and some pretty good sound. I don't really use the active pickups too much since usually it gets plugged into my effects processor, but the sounds are decent. It is definitely in need of some kind of reverb setting when plugging headphones in direct as the sound is pretty flat and uninspiring without it. It's also incredibly portable and I play it a lot more lately than my favorite guitar only because it's so convenient. Looks pretty good too.

The Bad:

This thing won't stay in tune on the top 2 (sometimes 3) strings to save its life. If I do any kind of real bending, it's over. The tuning has dropped as much as a tone to a tone and a half in a split second. I have yet to change the strings but this has been a problem since day 1. The plastic spindle that feeds the strings to the tuner seems super cheap for a guitar with a price tag like this. Also the leather strap that is ziptied to the end of the headless neck is kind of tacky. The action is also very high for me and I feel like I need to use a smaller or lighter pick to not trip myself up on faster playing.

At least this is a guitar that will get you playing since it's too convenient not to use it-even if it's only around the house. I am only disappointed about the tuning issues, since it can ruin my playing sessions when it's a constant issue. Maybe I'll consider replacing the tuners with better ones but I feel as though for how much this guitar was, I shouldn't be needing to fix a basic requirement of any guitar.

Not the best
