Definitely a Cool Axe

By Manuel Rivas from JACKSONVILLE, FL on March 15, 2024 Music Background: 50 years +

This is a wonderfully designed and built guitar. Normally I don't take to this style of guitar. Because a lot of guitars like this have limited access to the upper frets. But that is not a problem with this one. And the stainless steel frets are a major plus, it's nice to know you can play this guitar constantly with out the fear of wearing out the frets. And they feel silky smooth. And they are nicely polished from the manufacturer.mine came without adjustment wrenches. But Sweetwater sent me a very nice set free of charge.
Thank you Sweetwater.

ESP LTD -The guitar brand you think of,when you think metal

By Rocky G from L.A. CA on January 30, 2024 Music Background: classic rock & metal

I'm extremely picky. Picky Ricky I don't expect a perfect guitar for 1200, but i do expect good craftsmanship & very little flaws,& these eclipse 1000'are
near perfect! Good work ESP,way to up the anti & take first place.I may have chose the.Epiphone, but why, when these are loaded with active pickups,& stainless frets to boot.Fender & Gibson should pay attention to these exceptional qualities ,But those are the brands I think of when I hear country not metal! You want metal, you want ESP point blank.

Simply Amazing!

By Uncle Georgie from Cape Coral, FL on August 16, 2023 Music Background: Pro/Working musician/Vintage store owner

This Gibson killer is an outstanding value in fit and finish, play-ability, great looks and sound. IF this was a Gibson product it would retail for several grand. Buy one of these..save a ton of money..and tell Gibson that folks are tired of paying extra thousands for a name. OUTSTANDING VALUE! Your next Les Paul!

Everything I expected and more!

By Brent Enman from CO on June 5, 2023 Music Background: solo artist with 4 albums out

The ESP-LTD EC-1000 with the EMG active pickups is incredible. The fit and finish is impeccable and guitar was perfectly intonated (rare for and out of the box setup) Sustain from the EMGS is ridiculous in a good way! Bit lighter and thinner than traditional Les Paul style guitar so its very comfortable to play and the looks are killer! Highly recommend!

Lovely Guitar

By Geddy Lee Israel from CO on February 10, 2019 Music Background: Amateur Guitarist

There's so much that I appreciate about this guitar. From the way it stays in tune almost perfectly, to the killer sustain flying out of the EMG pickups, to the variety of tones achievable, to the overall beautiful finish and neck inlays, I really do enjoy holding, playing, or even just staring at this guitar. A quality instrument at a great price point. No regrets.

Stunning Hard Core Metal Machine!

By Timmy Z on January 15, 2019

I waited 10 months to receive this guitar and suffice it to say it was absolutely worth it. I love everything about this guitar from the build quality to the feel and play ability to it"s stunning appearance. Certainly is not a guitar to bang out some Stevie Ray Vaughan but if you"re into metal or hard rock… Wow! Sweetwater is always a great place to deal with

First off this is the nicest guitar Iv owned,i was originally in the market for a strat, but seen this and glad I did,the finish is beautiful. The fishman pickups are very clear and crisp sound for the clean kinda has a acoustic sound to it,and the distortion will blow you away it"s like getting a round house kick to the face from chuck Norris,I mainly play Power, thrash metal and this does Job,works great for worship music at church to.overall very happy and pleased about my purchase.

I'm buggin'!!

By Marcus from Washington, DC on March 24, 2018 Music Background: Student of music theory.

Blown away is an understatement. First and foremost, Jared, it was worth the wait. Thank you, brother, for all of the patience and help in getting me the BEST OF THE BEST guitars out there. Believe me folks, I've had many and even had the pleasure of borrowing a friends' Les Paul. Had the possession of a Fender Strat and Gibson Explorer and NONE of them felt right for ME. This ESP EC-1000 is absolutely beautiful and truly functional. The neck being set-in and thin is absolutely out of this world in comfort. The trim is far more beautiful than I expected. The color of the inlays have such a splash of everything beautiful in life. The hardware is perfect for the design of the guitar and I noticed how ESP positioned the knobs to reflect where the '0' point is on the tone and sound. I cannot forget the great guys and gals that set-up my ESP as it came packaged to the point that nothing could penetrate my investment and it is perfectly in tune. This is a great guitar company and I look forward to purchasing my Evertune in the near future. Not only that, EVERYONE at Sweetwater MUST be commended for their professionalism, great products and great (ABSOLUTELY GREAT) prices for guys like me getting an arsenal together to become the coolest dude to play a six-string! My experiences at the other three, so-called big companies in my area has always been negative. Sweetwater is where I shop only and Sweetwater is where I stay.

I will make a promise to everyone at Sweetwater; keep doing what you're doing in the music business and you'll have me as a lifetime customer. I am planning to visit the store soon during the summer and look forward to personally shaking hands with Jared and many others that have provided me with the coolest axe I have ever had.

5 STARS!!!!!! No, 10 STARS!!!!!

Oh, FedEx, you are forgiven.

Excellent Guitar

By Curt K from Faribault, Minnesota on December 2, 2017

I've had this guitar since the second week of Sept, 2017. The guitar is flawless, if I were to spend into the Les Paul range ($3000+) to improve this guitar, I don't see anything they could do to make it better! I really like the feel of heal of the guitar (neck joins the body). The EMG's are awesome! I love the feel of the neck, the fit and finish are truly flawless. I love the tone, the cleans and grit are there. If you're dreaming about getting that $3000+ Les Paul, but not sure you want to spend that much, get this guitar instead. It scratches that itch!

LOVE IT!!!

By Cruz Salinas from San Antonio, TX on November 30, 2017

StilI one of my favorite purchases! I have been using this model as my main guitar for over 2-1/2 years now & I'm still in love with it! Really light guitar & the neck makes this model very easy to play even with my thicker gauge strings(13-62) for D Standard/Drop C tuning. I use this guitar for my hard rock/metal band.

Amazing fit, finish, and sound!

By Kirk from Ohio on April 21, 2016 Music Background: Weekend Warrior

I was looking for a Les Paul body style guitar with good hardware, fit, and finish, but really didn't want to shell out $2000 plus on a Gibson Standard. I was immediately attracted to the LTD by it's looks, but when I read the tech specs I was really impressed. Tone Pro Bridge, locking tuners, EMG active pickups, and all of that abalone inlay work sold me on trying this one out. I am not disappointed!

Plays and sounds as beautiful as it looks. I would definitely recommend the EC 1000 line if your looking for a Les Paul style guitar with some modern appointments.

BETTER than a les paul

By Sweetwater Customer on September 12, 2015 Music Background: 25 years

Seriously I would take one of these over a Les Paul any day. This guitar feels and plays amazing. Dont like active pickups? Get one with Duncans. Cannot get a better guitar for the price.

Keep you posted.

By Marcus from DeRamus on March 17, 2018 Music Background: Becoming an accomplished musician.

Ordered this guitar about four days ago and cannot wait to start playing it. A friend has a Tiger Eye model and it is a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I don't know what all the fuss is about American made vs. overseas models. The quality is superb!! The pickups are b@tchin' and howl with a Marshall amp. The thin, U-line neck plays fast and I fully understand why many of my friends have opted for jumbo and extra jumbo frets. I've always felt that if a guitar is comfortable in your hands, go with it. I've played a PRS SE Standard for the last year and a half and see the difference,.

I would have given 5 stars but there was some mix-up with the delivery of my new EC-1000 from ESP to Sweetwater. Also, the website needs to be updated constantly. I received word that the supply was sufficient enough for me to order. Turns out the supply depleted four days after I received the notification so therefore I have to wait about a week longer than normal to get me new EC-1000. No fault to my sales engineer whatsoever. Jared's great. He keeps me posted on everything that I order. That's why I love the relationship I have with Sweetwater. No one needs to pay or give me a thing to give a great review about the products at this company. That's lame!! Your experiences should come from the heart and that's what I'm doing right now.

If my EC-1000 is as grand as my buddy's, I'm in for a real treat!

Keep you posted when I get my new EC-1000. I know those stars will bump up a 1/2 point more.

ESP LTD EC-1000 Black

By Ben from Pacific Northwest on March 9, 2015 Music Background: Hobbyist

This is an amazing guitar for the price! It looks, sounds, and plays great.

I like it so much I'm thinking about getting another just so I have setup in standard tuning and another in Drop D tuning.

The active pickups also work well for Rocksmith 2014.

Great guitar for the money!! IF you get a good one...

By Capt. George from Sunny Florida on August 11, 2021 Music Background: Club/Bar bands

For fit and finish, good looks, play-ability, sound and value, this guitar gets a 10++ !! Simply Amazing quality for a 1000 dollar axe!! Perfect set-up right out of the box. If it said Gibson on the head-stock it would cost at least 3 grand or more. Plays great, looks great, and the EMG's rock with classic tones.
Problems - Unfortunately, mine arrived with a small dent on the top near the bridge. The neck pick-up works only when it feels like it. The pick-up selector switch is way way to stiff to operate and may be the cause of this neck pick up problem.
Did I return it? No...Why? - I needed a "Les Paul" that was light weight due to shoulder and neck issues caused by playing my old, nearly ten pound class Les Paul on stage for many many years. This EC-1000 weighs in at 6 lbs. 14 oz. I didn't return it as other advertised Sweetwater EC-1000's where much heavier. Fortunately, I can fix the electronics issues myself..I'll live with the ding in the top.
To be fair, Nick at Sweetwater called and emailed me twice to see if there where any problems with my purchase.

Beautiful Guitar, but...

By Scott Bulava from Chicago, IL on April 14, 2016

I recently purchased the ESP LTD EC-1000 Black, The guitar is beautiful and played wonderfully! However, when looking at photos of the guitar on this website, I had no way of knowing how thin the body actually was.

To my dismay I felt that the body was too thin for my taste, it kinda felt like a toy in my hands, due to the thin body width. In my opinion, the warmth and tone was sacrificed for the contours and thin body width structure of the instrument.

I returned the ESP LTD EC-1000 not because it was a bad guitar, nor because of playability but simply because for me, I prefer a guitar that closely resembles a Les Paul Custom on thickness. Thus, I purchased: ESP LTD EC-1000T/CTM - Snow White which is exactly 2" thick like a Les Paul Custom but all the appointment of the awesome ESP LTD line of guitars! Oh! and Drew Foster is a great Sales Engineer that always goes out of his way to please me, the Sweetwater customer!

Great Guitar & Great customer service

By Christopher Spears from Los Angeles, CA on January 29, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

This is a great instrument. I've been interested in purchasing an LTD for some time and finally decided to purchase the ec-1000 in black. Thanks in large part to the great help of my excellent sales engineer. I love the classic shape with a modern twist. The quality of this instrument is excellent. If you purchase this guitar, you will not be disappointed.

Wasn't for me.

By Deven J from North Dakota on March 13, 2018

Pros:

First things first, these are some of the most beautiful guitars on the market. Esp knocked it out of the park making these things look good.

Second, the action is really nice. Very easy to play guitar. Some of my hardest parts to play were made easy by using this.

Third, the tone is absolutely top notch, it's exactly what you'd expect I loved it.

Cons:
This is why I sold mine. My EC-1000 was the least reliable guitar in my arsenal. Couldn't make it through one song without going out of tune and you can sure bet on it not being in tune when you first pick it up. It also couldn't handle very much bending (so anything by David Gilmour is out) because of the tuning issues. This may not have happened to everyone but it happened to me with multiple different pairs of strings. None of my other guitars face this issue.

I HAVE played one with an Evertune bridge and that was definitely a Five star guitar.
