.008-.038 Electric Guitar Strings - Cobalt

Ernie Ball Cobalt guitar strings are made of a new alloy formulation that gives you higher output, better sound, and longer life. Cobalt strings' special iron/cobalt blend attracts the magnets in your pickups better than any other alloy. When you string up with Ernie Ball Cobalts, you'll immediately notice the incredible comfort these strings offer - silky and pliable under your fretting fingers; your pick will seem to glide over the strings, letting you execute fast passages effortlessly. And when you plug in, you'll get increased power, beefy yet defined lows, improved midrange focus, harmonics, and sustain, and crisp highs. Try a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt strings - you're gonna love 'em!

Love them

I thought they would be too twangy, sound great.

VERY GOOD

By Randy DeFord from RC, IN on March 18, 2022 Music Background: DECADES

I wanted to explore a .008" set so I ordered these. Two noticeable improvements. After stretching, they stay in tune. Best strings I've ever used for that. That was a surprise because I didn't think that would be the case. Am replacing all my strings with these, Secondly, the feel is not as sloppy as I assumed. Feels just like a .009" set with no weird affects. Really impressed with both the tuning integrity and feel. And they still allow me to chicken pick and keep the tone. For the slighty higher price, well worth the investment.

excellent

I have an ES-339 i was using EB pure nickles. pure nickle is warm not bright and best used on single coil ax's like strats.
with humbuckers, these strings SING with the right amount of brightness,

i use ex lights 8-38 because i am in my 60's and have mild arthritis.
these are now my go to strings for this ax.

Luv Um

Tried these when they first came out and they are great. The tone thing on light gauge is a myth...Play what gauge feels best to you!

Slinky vs daddario

By Mark Kent White from Missouri on March 17, 2019

I've used daddario 08-38 strings for 20 years. Got a wild hair to try something different so I tried a set of these and WOW what a difference. The feel, the sound is just incredible. Highly recommend these. Now if they will hold up as well as the daddario

Surprisingly good sound

By Scott from Spokane,WA USA on April 26, 2014 Music Background: Hobbyist

I have these "8's" on a PRS Custom 24, and on a Fender American Standard tele. I was warned that they might sacrifice a lot of tone with their light gauge, but I was pleasantly surprised. They sound great, and have reasonable ring and sustain. You can play and bend for hours with these without wearing out your fingertips. They are worth trying if you are interested, but be prepared to do a new setup on your guitar if you decide to stay with this gauge.

The .08-.38 size gave me issues...

By Steven Bassett from Pascoag, RI on September 2, 2022

I am sure these have importance in someone's arsenal, it just did not work for me. Just out of curiosity I wanted to try these and hear the tone, but I just could not get my guitar in tune properly with thin strings, it was weird. I normally use the Ernie Ball Cobolt .10-.52 and they are perfect. I play a $3k DBZ custom neck-through Bird of Prey, so I doubt it's the guitar. Hope this helps someone.
