.010-.050 Extra Light Gauge Acoustic Guitar Strings, Aluminum Bronze

Ernie Ball strings have been a top choice for players of all types since the early 1960s, when guitarists came into Ernie Ball's music store, customizing their string gauges to make their axes easier to play. After fruitless attempts to interest major guitar manufacturers in a lighter set of strings, Ernie Ball decided to start making his own. When you open a pack of his strings today, you know you're getting a quality set of strings designed to give you great tone, reliable performance, and long life. Ask any Sweetwater guitar expert - you can't go wrong when you string up with Ernie Ball strings!

Good, smooth, bright

By Christopher A. from Aledo, TX
Music Background: Country, twice a month in the bars.

Rich undertones and bright highs. Good longevity. I tried these aluminum bronze on a whim but went back to my Ernie Ball 2006 Earthwood on the next string change, about every two months, because I could not tell the difference to justify a few bucks more.

perfect cure for dark sounding guitar

By steve r. from yakima, WA

tried these an all mahogany Martin 00. it is a great guitar, but just sounded too dark. these aluminum/copper strings added just enough shine to the tone. still a deep and satifying sound, but now just a bit livelier. seem to last well. stay in tune. this was a reorder. i am sold on these strings for this very good guitar.

BEST strings by far!!!!!!!

By Jim T. from Charleston, SC
Music Background: Many bands and solo efforts. Curently play with a smokin' funk band.

BEST acoustic gujitar strings EVER!!!! After playing for more than 50 years and trying them all, I will never use anything else. These have life, resonance, brilliance and real sizzle. They are the holy grail of acoustic strings. I will never use anytning else.

G String broke

By John from New York
Music Background: Playing for 35 yrs

I put these on yesterday, sounded great. Started to do a few bends on the G string and it broke. I haven't broken a string of any kind in years. I liked them over my 12s,so I'll just have to find a brand that's stronger i guess.

Brittle G

By Streetsbolt from Streetsboro, OH

Sound great but the G string is very brittle. Broke 2 of them. Going back to Earthwood XLite 2006. They sound almost as good and I've never broken one of those. These would be great if you stick with finger style.

Absolute best on my all-magogany Martin

By Adrienne A. from Maine
Music Background: Long and varied; fingerpicker (classic, acoustic, and electric guitar; banjo)

There's no looking back. I had PBs on the all-mahogany Martin 000-15M (aka Martin OM-15M), then Martin Retros light. Both were OK, but I felt as though I wasn't getting as much as I could from the instrument, so I looked around for alternatives.
Hit the jackpot with these strings. It's hard to believe how much better the guitar sounds (even though it sounded fantastic before). The strings are responsive with clear trebles and sustained but not muddy bass. Easy on my hands.
I think they bring out the full potential of an all-mahogany finger-picked guitar.
I plan to try the on other guitars -- the first will be an *all maple* (would you believe!) Martin 00-15 that I picked up used and love for its brightness and enormous sound for a relatively small guitar.

Speachless

By Keith from Here and there.
Music Background: Self taught. No more performing. Too old and the kds don't like my stuff.

I bought one set a while ago but just put them on recently (Extra Lights). As soon as I could I restrung all 10 instruments. These are delightful strings, easy on my hands (I'm a bare-handed finger picker) with very good playability. Bends well too. Each of the guitars maintain there individuality of sound (which worried me) but with a much improved projection and resonance. Way above anything else I've played in the last 50 years or so. Leaves me kind of breathless.

Sounds Great!

By Josh M.

Love these strings! They sound great on my Ovation, will definitely be buying these again! They are exceptionally clear and have a nice well rounded tone.

All-around Winner

By Adam H. from Cape Girardeau, MO
Music Background: Gigging Musician

I look for three things in a string: tone, durability, and affordability. This string is the best example I've found of all three of those things coming in the same package. They are loud, round, and not overly bright after initial play-in, and maintain a good fundamental longer than the phosphor-bronze I'd been using. They seem to withstand humidity well (though I wasn't using them in the swampiest of months). And they feel good after a little play. I use them on both my Martin and J-45, and they transformed the Gibson. Get 'em.

Really different!

By Bruce K. from Southern Illinois

I permanently installed a Seymour Duncan acoustic tube pickup in my beautiful solid woods guitar, filed the saddle and restrung with these strings. I like 'em alot! They project well and are easy on the fingers as well as bendable. I'm wondering if they will sound a little less brassy as they're broken in. From what I've read they sound even better after a little use, so I'll have to wait and see. They're supposed to last longer and not show discoloration as easily as other strings. Anyway, my Alvarez looks and plays like a dream now with the setup, nice low action etc. I'm a happy camper!

I'm A Believer

By rokdog49

I must say I had high hopes for these strings. My "go to" strings have been GHS Signature Bronze which are great strings. I thought why not give these a go so I did. At first I was a little disappointed because I was hoping to hear brighter right away and I didn't hear a discernible difference from the Signatures.
After playing my Larrivee L03 for about an hour I became aware of the solid, clear bottom that was promised. I also was hearing overtones like they were going out of style and as others have said the sustain was phenomenal...really. I'm going to continue to see how they hold up as they are touted to last longer than other uncoated strings. I will definitely buy more of these. Incidentally, I bought the 11-52 set.

Outstanding strings

By Aaron from Blytheville, Arkansas

Holy cow, I love these strings. I have tried a couple other brands, mainly Martin's, on my Taylor acoustic. The reviews on these Aluminum/Bronze sounded good, so I ordered 3 sets. I strung up a set of 'em a few days ago. Man they sound great. The sustain is crazy. Especially the G string, just goes on for days. These sound amazing unplugged or amped through my Fishman Loubox. Seriously, this is about the best love you can give your guitar. This may be the only string I use on the Taylor forever. Love 'em.

EB Nailed It With These Strings--Big Time!

By Woody C. from Orlando, FLorida USA
Music Background: Songwriter, engineer and musician

If you don't hear at the very least a 3x improvement in your guitar's tone, seriously consider using it for an indoor planter because if these strings can't do anything for its tone, there is nothing on this planet that will.
I strung my Tak TF360SBG up with them and I was totally amazed beyond words. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I have been using Cleartone and Martin strings for long time and they don't begin to measure up to these strings. Believe me when I say my Tak has NEVER sounded this good...and it is soooo recordable. These strings make my guitar sound optimally balanced and the definition/clarity is perfect. Nowadays after adding a Tri-Ax pick up, when I track I simply keep everything flat and every take sounds perfect in any mix. And by the way, they sound better longer than phosphor bronze strings.
I can't recommend these strings enough. So do yourself a favor and buy a set of them, I promise you will not be disappointed. Yes, They're that good.

Top - Notch !!

By Doug from Portage, Indiana
Music Background: Active musician

The description of these strings is dead - on ! Increased clarity & projection. These are the first set of strings I've tried that have actually 'brought out' the mid-range in my rosewood acoustic. For the first time since I bought it, it sounds amazing! These strings make my acoustic SING ! There will never be another brand of stings going on my acoustic from now on! Ernie Ball Aluminum/Bronze strings are now my 'go -to' string choice. Try 'em, you won't be disappointed !
