Ernie Ball 2409 Ernesto Palla Black & Gold Ball-End Nylon Classical Guitar Strings - Medium Tension Reviews

.028-.042 Medium Gauge Nylon Classical Guitar Strings, Ball End

Ernie Ball strings have been a top choice for players of all types since the early 1960s, when Ernie Ball himself began making custom strings to meet the needs of contemporary players. Generations of guitarists here at Sweetwater have been using their strings, and they've always impressed us with their performance and innovation. Over half a century later, Ernie Ball's reputation has blossomed and their range of products has positively exploded, spreading from electric guitar strings to these Ernesto Palla concert-quality classical guitar strings.

Not a fan

By Jeff from IL

I don't like these and have used them a few times. They don't stay in tune and once you use D'Adarrio Pro Arte you can see and hear the difference. If you're thinking it's easier just to use ball end don't do that as stringing the bridge is very VERY easy with traditional tying. Just watch a video and you'll see and once you do it you won't go back. If you're new to nylons take it easy on the high E string and don't try to tune it all at once make SEVERAL tunings over a day or 2. Little at a time and let it settle in or you will break the string. These ball ends are really bad. I like Ernie ball strings otherwise for electric and acoustic but not for classical. I don't like their non ball end traditional strings either. Yes they are cheaper but ...... they are cheaper!

no more bridge sores

By Scott S. from Spiro, OK

These have ball ends so no more damage to my expensive bridge. They don't look as kool as tying but sound just as good, less string changing time.

Pretty good Classical guitar strings

By Micheal L.
Music Background: Classical death metal

Ive been using these strings for about a Year now
The sound is bright and Crisp from the gold wound strings
And the black nylon strings are warm and kinda plinky in a good way?
I also use these strings for ukes too and they work pretty well

These Ernie Ball nylons are just okay

By Sweetwater Customer

The ball-end makes stringing faster than having to wrap strings around the bridge. These strings are stretching a lot causing me to re-tune about 10 times. The black strings blend-in with the black fretboard. Also, they feel like they are under higher tension making them slightly hard to fret.

Before these strings, I was using D'addario Pro-Arte EJ45C's and I liked the warm tone, but those are a little expensive and that is why I am trying these $5 strings. These Ernie Balls don't have the warmth of the D'addarios and the thin tone of the nylon strings remind you that they are made out of plastic.

I think I will use D'Addario EJ27N Classic Nylon strings next. I have played those before, those also cost $5 but sound better with a tone similar to the Pro-Arte EJ45C's. For $5 strings, I would say buy the D'Addario Classic Nylons instead.
