Ernie Ball 2146 Earthwood Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.054 Medium Light
Ernie Ball 2146 Earthwood Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings - .012-.054 Medium Light Reviews
Ernie Ball strings have been a top choice for players of all types since the early 1960s, when guitarists came into Ernie Ball's music store, customizing their string gauges to make their axes easier to play. After fruitless attempts to interest major guitar manufacturers in a lighter set of strings, Ernie Ball decided to start making his own. From shredders to acoustic virtuosos, Sweetwater guitarists love Ernie Ball strings for their great tone, reliable performance, and long life. You can't go wrong when you string up with Ernie Ball strings!
The Only Strings I've Loved
I've played Acoustic Electric guitar on a cheaper $ guitar for some time. (Washburn WA90CEVSB) and these strings are the only ones I've ever been fully satisfied using.
I play on and off as a multi-instrumental dude, I primary Tenor Saxophone and Alto Clarinet as well as Low C Tenor Lead Pan (Strange combo, I know,) but I still love to play on my guitar when I can. These strings allow me to do that.
These strings have consistently lasted me far longer than any other acoustic string I've purchased and used. The quality is some of the best I've used, and they aren't expensive and are very fairly priced. I've never had an issue with these snapping prematurely/randomly while tuning, even when using a higher alternate tuning. I've also never had these strings start to unwind themselves, but I have with more expensive strings and OBVIOUSLY cheaper strings.
These strings are also great if you like to play electric guitar or want to get used to the string weight of electric guitar. I found that these strings and the lights are great for getting used to electric strings oddly enough, which makes it far more efficient when switching between an acoustic/acoustic-electric and an electric guitar.
Overall, these are for sure my favorite strings and more than likely the only strings I'll continue to use for a while into the future, they are just so convenient and have a wonderful sound, the price also helps too. 5 Stars all around.

This is a simple leather strap. It's strong and good quality. I was initially looking for a woven cotton strap, but this was less expensive and looks better. I'm happy with it!
Warm, Rich Tone
These are great sounding strings and the orangish color really gives off a smart looking contrast against the backdrop of a dark rosewood fretboard. Since I keep track of my string hours in a spreadsheet, I can say that these strings broke in for me just over the 4 hour mark of playing time. And as I'm not fond of the brightness in the tones of many other strings, these are now my go-to favorites. As luck would have it, I noticed that Sweetwater currently has a buy 3 sets for nearly the same price as two with these particular strings ... sold!
first time changing strings on my own & holy moly
i came into the possession of an acoustic that hadn't had its strings changed in over 10 years & wanted to try changing the strings myself. i took the advice of a bunch of oldheads and went with this brand (after sifting through a bunch of reviews and trying to figure out what material & thickness i wanted etc etc) and i am sooo glad i did. when i was done i played for my dad & he said it sounded like a completely different instrument.
the phosphor bronze strings are smooth and soft & easy to play (coming from someone with small bony hands), and my god do they sound warm. best way i can describe it is that they sound like brown sugar.
They seem to have gotten weaker
I've been playing for years and playing live shows. I've never had any problems in the past, but this year, I've gone through six packs of these in one month. They weren't snapping but they were unraveling down by the bridge during my shows, still making them unplayable. I had to keep stopping to change them because I was running out of backup guitars. After I would change a string, I'd be lucky to get through two songs before it would happen again, sometimes to the new string! I'm going to try out some other brands.
Reliable acoustic guitar strings with great tone
The Ernie Ball phosphor bronze medium light strings perform well and sound great. I have tried countless strings on the market and always come back to these strings. I love that these strings feel smooth without being coated. The strings sound really balanced and have great bass response and moderate treble. They sound great when strummed or fingerpicked. These strings last quite a long time and have never broken on me. I highly recommend giving them a try!
Great quality and price
I use these on a Martin D-18. I find they sound great after they age a bit. They are too bright and sharp when I first restring, but after a couple of weeks they sound much more balanced and seem to intonate better. They last a while. I've never had a string break or rust or anything like that. I change them about every 6 months. I play every day.
Great strings at a great price
These strings are warm, even, slinky, and sound great! I used to play coated Elixirs, but started to dislike the slimy feel and constant fraying. Moving to these classic phosphor bronze strings solved my problems! Compared them to a few other brands and watched a few reviews online, and these were consistently the best sound at this price point, in my opinion. Great strings!
Sucks
High E string snapped before i could even finish getting it on my guitar. Low E string took an hour to put on and it didn't even work. Not even gonna try the other four in hopes that i at least have a four string guitar.
Neck swap shock
These are the only strings I've found that lessen the neck shock switching from the electric to acoustic guitar in the middle of a set. The unwound third is a large part of this. If your acoustic and electric guitars have similar necks these strings are a must have. If you're planning on switching to electric these strings should help make the transition easier.
