Plays great, sounds great

Bought this guitar to have an extra acoustic around to jam and record with and I'm surprised on how good it plays for the price, would definitely recommend it!!

My Lefty Epiphone DR-100

By Enrique Deluna from USA on March 30, 2023 Music Background: Beginner/Intermediate

Even though it arrived several hours ago, I am so very very happy with this acoustic guitar by Epiphone.
Right out of the box it was very playable to me. The strings are comfortable, and it didn't take long to tune to Eb, as I do all my guitars.
Once the strings felt settled in, I finally got to play it. For the value of its cost at well under $, the sound is very rich, and its playability very comfortable. The neck feels perfect in my hands, and playing isn't an issue whatsoever. The look of this guitar in real life is stunningly beautiful, and the natural finish is a welcome sight for me, as my other two guitars (Ibanez AC340-opn all mahogany, and a Martin D-10 Road Series in natural sapele)are of the dark wood series, which I also love btw.
The guitar projects very well, there are no electronics in it, but come on, when you have a dreadnought acoustic, who really needs an amp? My Martin has a Fishman in it, but I've only used it twice in the two years I've had her.
I played the two back to back, and have to say that the Epiphone holds up pretty dang good to the Martin, a nearly $ guitar.
Overall I am more than happy with this beautiful instrument, and look forward to many years playing it. They'll both outlast me I'm afraid, as Im not young anymore har-har..
I really recommend this guitar. If you think it looks attractive in pictures, you should hold on in our hands and see it in real life. It's hard to believe that this low cost guitar holds its own to my more expensive Martin. I am blessed to own both TBH.
Hope this review helps. I'm not in a hurry to get a setup done professionally since the strings are brand new, and she feels fine, and plays quite easily right out of the box.Playing time will be split between this beauty and my Martin of course.

Epi DR100

By MichaJohnson from Moultrie, GA on October 6, 2022 Music Background: 68 started playing when I was 17.

First off it is $. That said excellent crafmanship period. As far as the action most folks have it set to their liking, however, from the factory for me it's great, only need to apply the lightest amount of pressure for it to fret properly. No fret buzz. The one I recieved is very playable. I haven't played southpaw in 7 years ( wrist injury) I'm a born lefty. It's all laminated wood, the biggest surprise was the tone and projection, it doesn't sound tinny at all. If you're a lefty and want one for a campfire or camping I don't think you will be disappointed. It holds tune very well after stretching the strings. As far cons, it's a bottom shelf guitar, so I'm not expecting a sows ear to be a silk purse! Is there room for improvement, of course, even on a $1000+ guitar.

The best

By James Youngs from ANTELOPE, CA on October 21, 2021

This cost almost nothing but it def has the Epiphone quality. Mine does at least, fit and finish were flawless, it projects way crisper and louder than a Fender CD in my opinion. Yes there's flaws but this guitar could cost twice as much and still sell. For a lefty this the best acoustic you can start with no joke! I started with an Ibanez AE, switched to a Fender CD (hated), if you wanna save some change and need a cheap or starter acoustic, its perfect. Holding up about 9 months later.

Perfect honestly

By Sweetwater Customer on February 7, 2021

Wow, the hype is real. Finally lefties can get in on this. For the price you get more than what you pay for to be honest. The only flaw I could find was a bit of sloppy paint where the neck ends. It's only slight and you have to get up close. The action was absolutely perfect. I had to make zero neck adjustments ether. It was pretty straight already with a bow in the right way. Strings were crispy and fresh, no rust or oxidation. I changed to some coated strings and Gibson brand tuners. I'm not sure what the neck is made out of, but it has a real nice even grain and varnish. This guitar is really loud too. I've had Fender and been around Yamaha acoustics but the Epiphone is waaaaaaay better than the Fender CDs. It's loud and clear, not really any string buzz. The neck was smooth and the frets were really really well done, absolutely smooth, no rough or sharpness whatsoever. For the price, you literally can't find a better acoustic for a lefty. I've had a standard epiphone les paul electric before and yeah, Epiphone continues to produce quality guitars!

DR 100 Lefty

By Mike Johnson from Moultrie, GA on December 21, 2022

bought this in September, the quality is great, the only other time i have bought an Epiphone acoustic was in 1973, it was completely horrible, it fretted like a tank! Epiphone has came along way since then! I really liked it, I only did two things to it removed the pick guard and changed the strings. Is this a top shelf item, no, and I did'nt expect it to be, For the price range it is a great bargain. It's very resonant, good sustain and projection. mine had no sharp edges on the frets, the tuners are kind of rough, however, it does hold tune very weell. Its been6 years since I've played due to a wrist injury, so all in all I'm very happy with my purchase! La
