MXR M282 Dyna Comp Bass Compressor Pedal Reviews

Bass Compressor Pedal with Clean, Sensitivity, Tone, and Output Controls

The MXR Dyna Comp is perhaps the most iconic compressor pedal ever made. Now the Dyna Comp Bass Compressor Pedal gives bassists access to that classic sound, tuned and tweaked just for bass. Built around the classic CA3080 “metal can” integrated circuit for its quiet operation, superior transparency, and increased dynamic range, this pedal comes with all the controls you need to shape your bass sound quickly. The icing on the cake is that the Dyna Comp Bass Compressor Pedal comes in an MXR mini housing, so shoehorning it onto your pedalboard is not a problem.

Cleans up the mud

I'm not a pedal guy but for bigger volume events this pedal cleans up the boom and lets you dial in the tone to a clear, powerful sound.

MXR DynaComp Bass Compressor

I'm very new to this pedal. I'm a solo performer (troubadour) so I make my own loops. Hundreds and hundreds od loops! This pedal is a big help so far. The manual that comes with it is wrong (of course) so go to manual site online using the title of the unit as keyword for search.
You're going to have to play with it. There are no good instructions and any demo online is not a help (that I've found so far, anyway). Fender Jazz, flatwounds (forgot the brand). I started with output knob turned up to 2 or 3 oclock and everything else turned completely off. Then start experimenting, which I still am doing!. Added a bit of clean till I liked the sound, a little of the 1k and a touch of the sustain and attack button pushed. You get a real, strong, clean, thuddy bottom to build your loop on ith this unit - - but I'm still playing with it. Live, with a group, this thing would be very valuable. Pretty sure you're going to like it a lot. I do!

A Must Have For Any Bassist

I've owned a lot of compressors over the years and can name pros and cons about all of them, but the Dyna Comp Bass is flawless in my opinion. I tried the Dyna Comp Deluxe a few months ago at a local shop and liked it other than the frequency the tone knob affected. I ordered this as soon as it hit shelves, and it has always been on since it made its way to my board. I mainly use it to just even things out rather than squash it, but when I do slap stuff and need that extra compression, all I need to do is engage the Attack switch and I'm ready to go. I was on the multiband compressor train for a long time, but this small pedal has easily revolutionized my sound in ways that I didn't know it needed. If you're thinking about getting this pedal, buy it; you won't regret it.
