Fender Player Duo-Sonic HS - Ice Blue Metallic Reviews
The Fender Player Duo-Sonic HS's unique voice is due to its 24" scale length. It possesses a vibrant sound and makes for a very playable instrument. It has a slinky feel, extended chords are easier to finger, and you can pull off multi-step bends easily. A combination of single-coil and humbucking pickups delivers sweet, glassy Fender tone, with sound-shaping provided by a 3-way selector, Master Volume and Tone controls, and a push-pull tone pot that switches the humbucker to single-coil operation. Beginners and experts alike agree that there's a lot to love about the Fender Player Duo-Sonic HS.

Wonderful guitar and a pleasure to play
I absolutely love this guitar. I purchased the Plek Pro for it and Joel made certain of the fact that everything would be set up just as I wanted out of the box, and it certainly was! The neck feels smooth, easy to fret and chords come out seamlessly. I really enjoy the chime + twang that the stock neck pickup has, and the bridge pickup can certainly handle distortion however it also sounds great without any effects whatsoever since it helps contribute to an overall bright sound. Aside from its scale length which makes playing extremely effortless I would say my favorite feature would have to be the push/pull option for the bridge pickup. I truly thank Joel as well as everyone at Sweetwater for making certain my purchase came to me in perfect working order and of course to my liking!!
Perfect for me
I researched guitars that would be good for a player with very small hands (I'm a small woman with the hands of a child), but that would also deliver the power and tones to play punk and other fast, loud styles. This guitar has been a game-changer for me. I went from feeling like a novice who could barely squeeze out a few transitions, to being a beginning guitarist who's starting to write songs - mainly since I can reach most things now. The sound is incredible out of the box, and I can't wait to try heavier strings next. The options on the pick ups give me variety and deliver a lot of depth and tones that come out as I get better at playing this baby. I'm in love with this guitar.
So Much Fun!!!
I don't think I have ever has as much fun playing a new guitar as with this thing!
I own several dozens and do not make this statement lightly.
It is definitely a fender in that it is "spanky" with glassy tone but the rear pick-up shreds a little too with some overdrive.
IMHO this S-HH is the best version as it is the most versatile in sound. The coil split is absolutely killer. Though it is a bit quieter than some other US made Fenders I own.
Overall, it does exactly as advertised in that the short scale suddenly unlocks a whole new way of reaching, bending, tapping, sliding, and harmonics. I have long fingers-so this really gets me doing things faster than I was doing on a full-scale neck.
Overall, the fit and finish is really good. There was a bit of fret sprout, and I did have to do a minor setup (nothing on Sweetwater-it was expected; especially as it sat in the Fed-ex warehouse for an extra day due to some logistical issue). But that is just me, I have been playing, recording, repairing, teaching, and building guitars for about 30 years so I can be a bit of a snob.
So, It is a solid buy IMHO!!!
If you like the Strat sound and want something a little extra neat and fun, this is worth the dough!!!!
