a great looper especially for the money.

By Lawrence S. from OVERLAND, MO
Music Background: 60 year old + rocker

This looper is easy to use. I like the volume on each drum and the loop outputs.

super easy to level it all off between the drums, the loop and the guitar.

I think the drums sound good. Maybe the guy that didn t like the drums didn't know you can add reverb in the menu. they do sound a little dry without it. I had some difficulty trying to load files to it from my computer though.

Maybe I ll figure it out when I have more time. (thats why only 4 stars).

It comes with a footswitch and power supply too!

footswitch has an OVCTAVE setting that you can use to get kind of bass groove going.

all in all, it was worth my hard earned $.

Rock on!!

Lots to like, room for improvement (especially for live use)

By David P. from MIDLOTHIAN, VA
Music Background: wizard

There is a LOT to like about this looper. The recording time and audio quality is very good. Being able to record and control the level of two loop tracks and two drum patterns is nice. The usual record/play/overdub features are all there. Build quality seems solid. The display screen is large and clear, which is nice. I haven't tested the mic preamp or 48V phantom power, but it's nice to have a mic input on this unit.

I bought this for practice and songwriting, but it needs some attention for live use applications. Overall I think this is a solid unit, but I hope NUX will do some product development to improve on it.

Some areas that could use improvement:

• No on/off switch may not be important for some, but it's important to me.
• I would love to see a large BPM tempo indicator, and not have to go into drum pattern playback to see the tiny one that is available.
• The drum patterns are nice, but the audio quality leaves a lot to be desired. For rehearsals and sketching song ideas, what is there is fine, but I could never use this for live performance.
• We need a few options for a click track sounds (claves, cowbell, etc.) as the default high hat sound is weak and doesn't cut well to follow in live performance.
• Being able to name saved loops would be much better than having to remember them by the name they are stored in.
• Saving audio play back levels for pre-recorded loops and drum patterns to the saved loops is critical for live use. They seems to playback random levels which makes this device unreliable for live use.
• There is a mic input, but I don't see to disable it's signal while recording instrument loops. If I want to record both to separate loops, the microphone will add ambient sound that I may not want in my instrument loop. An mic on/off toggle would be an easy solution.
• Only 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures. Not an issue for me, but others will find this a bit limitation.

Note: My unit came with firmware version 1.8. There is a 2.0 firmware version (not on the website, I had to email NUX to request it). I have downloaded it, but it appears to require a MIDI interface. This seems odd, as nearly every bit of hardware I've ever updated has been via USB or a media card. Many musicians have MIDI gear (keyboards, drum machines, samplers) that only have a MIDI out. The NUX Dual Loop Stereo has a USB-C port on the side, but that may only be for transferring audio files. I will update my review if/when I find out about this.

Mediocre at best

By Sweetwater Customer from MA

I got this because it had a lot of features that had great potential for live use. The drums sound awful. The high hats are too loud. The only mode that is useful is the free loop mode without drums. There is no way to make a loop without drums in either of the other modes. The UI is the opposite of intuitive, bordering on unuseable. The setup for the buttons requires you to stop the track entirely if you want to redo one of the loops while it's playing. If you choose a different drum patterns for the two loops the transition is jarring. Literally unusable for the exact reason I got it for. My only bet is to play drum tracks from my phone and using free loop mode, which you can do on literally any looper with an aux input. Unless they do a firmware update that changes almost everything about it, your money is best spent elsewhere.

Lots of Pedal for the money

By Robert L. from CHINO VALLEY, AZ

Very good looper. Lots of options with the drums as well. It times up perfectly and it doesn't color your tone. Great Routing, smallest on the market with all these features.
