Darkglass Duality Dual Fuzz Engine Mini Pedal Reviews
Darkglass has heard the calls of bassists around the world and worked to re-engineer a fan favorite, resurrecting the Duality Fuzz in the form of the Dual Fuzz Engine Mini Pedal. Small only in size, the Duality Dual Fuzz Engine delivers thundering lows with a veneer of distinctive, full-bodied fuzz. Its unique assembly comprises two individual discrete circuits: a gated sawtooth wave and a wicked high-octane grit. With the straightforward control scheme, the Duality knob blends between these two circuits, letting you dial in that sweet spot for your tone, while the level knob handles the overall output. Plus, the rear magnetic cover can be easily removed from the backplate to reveal internal blend and filter controls to manage the higher registers of the distorted tone and the blending curve of the circuits, respectively. Add in its pedalboard-friendly size and rugged housing, and you’ve got a pint-sized powerhouse that Sweetwater bassists consider a welcome return to form.

Fantastic on bass and guitar
I own a LOT of fuzz pedals, but I'm always looking for something unique and flexible. The DFZ is absolutely what I was hoping it'd be. It's sounds fantastic on bass, and goes anywhere from sputtering, gated fuzz, to open, ripping modern sounds. The pleasant surprise was how great it sounds with guitar. If you're on the fence - pull the trigger. You won't be returning this one.
Incredible fuzz
I recently swapped out my Way Huge Pork & Pickle for this and I'm extremely happy I did. This fuzz sounds so good the first time I engaged the pedal my jaw dropped. Can get very synthy all on its own, but combined with an octave pedal it's perfection. Also I really love the aesthetic of this pedal: it's very clean-looking and the rose gold color is very nice.
Didn't love the design
This pedal sounds great and has a sleek, modern Apple-product aesthetic and good build quality. The downside is the light is very dim and at outdoor or brightly-lit gigs I couldn't tell if the pedal was on or not. I also strongly dislike that half the controls are hidden behind a back plate, making it difficult to tweak levels without removing the pedal completely from the board and then making guess-and-check adjustments. I highly recommend the Vintage Mircrotubes from Darkglass for as an overdrive pedal, but I'd look elsewhere for a fuzz.
