Perfect for my needs!

By Matt from Houston
Music Background: Film composer, orchestra director, producer, mix engineer

I bought this to use with my Tuscan DM4800. I'm able to track 24 channels with really low latency and then spill 24 channels across the desk. I'm using the other ADAT I/o with my iD22 to send the audio back into Logic to print the final mix.

Plugged it in and it worked!

By Paul W. from South Teexas
Music Background: https://studiooutback.com/history/

I had a RME HDSP 9652 before and when I built my new computer, the motherboard didn't have a standard PCI slot so I purchased the RME Digiface USB. It works great with new hardware and Windows 11 Pro.

Exactly what I needed

By Edward B. from OH

After researching and combing the market I settled on the Digiface for my replacement interface for an aging studio. I know there are many great interfaces out there but I believe I made the right choice. Rock solid with very little latency. I now can use my VST's with input monitoring along with amp sims without that annoying delay. I had this up and running in 15 minutes including the driver, firmware and software installation. The Total Mix software is powerful and very easy to use even though in my case I don't use it. If you are in the market, this should be a contender.

Rock solid

By Tim D. from Nashville
Music Background: Full time professional audio engineer since 1999

Setup: Intel i9, Windows 10 pro, using Sequoia and RX8 Advanced. Replaced our HDSP9652 + 9632 setup, and was worried about going to USB after being so solid for years. Should have done this years ago! Perfect, solid, routine is better. So incredibly happy.

Perfect for What I Needed

By Michael W. from Indianapolis
Music Background: Musician, Producer

For the longest time, I looked at going back to analogue mixing due to cost vs. headaches. The one reason why was that not one single digital mixer offered a one stop solution for my needs in the studio. Some of them had some features I wanted, others had different features that I wanted. I searched high and low for an audio interface that could handle 32 channels of ADAT via light-pipe and this is the only one I found. As a UAD Apollo user, I was always interested in RME and the features they pack into their interfaces. This Digiface is a no frills solution that just does what it does; converts 32 channels in and out of my DAW paired with my Soundcraft GB8 32 mixer. Now, I have the best of digital and analogue and it just works. Highly recommended!

Typical RME - Brilliant!

By Eric S. from Maumee, Ohio
Music Background: Studio owner and engineer

So you want to assemble a simplified recording rig for live use, and you have a couple 8 channel mic pres with adat optical output. The RME DigiFace USB is a great way to get those adat outputs into your computer without having to buy and haul around another interface loaded with features the situation doesn't call for.

The RME drivers are, as usual, solid as a rock and setup is simple. The DigiFace unit itself is tiny - about 5 inches wide, an inch and a half deep, and half an inch high. You could run an entire studio off this tiny unit if you have a cue system with adat input. The DigiFace USB does not have word clock i/o on BNC jacks, so just do your research before buying and be sure you understand how the clocking will work for your system.

I'm using a Midas XL48 and an Audient ASP008 with the DigiFace USB. I have the XL48 set up as clock master, running a BNC to the Audient. Optical lines run from both pres to the DigiFace, which is set as a slave. Syncs immediately and stays solid for hours. I'm running Pro Tools on Windows 10.

I highly recommend this unit!

Leave it to RME

By Studiodawg from Cambridge Township, PA
Music Background: Grizzled veteran.

This little box just rejuvenated my studio. ADAT is a very useful standard and RME was spot on addressing the need to interface via USB. I've got three 8 channel preamps connected via ADAT and my Sound Devices USBPre2 connected SPDIF...all in sync, all functional and no latency using TotalMix FX software. Brilliant.

Works like a charm, now.

By Marc T. from El Cajon, CA
Music Background: Professional Musician, getting into live recording now.

I wanted something that would sync all my 4 - 8 channel interfaces together so I could record live up to 24 tracks at once into my computer but also be able to run the analogue outputs into my Cymatic Utrack 24 for a backup. Ok, this unit looked like what the doctor ordered so I ordered one myself and read the directions pretty carefully. Long story short, it looked like I could just run 4 separate toslink outs out of each of my 4 interfaces, which are all different brands and models, and the other 4 ends into the inputs of the RME. Well after a long, long time, I finally could only get one at a time to sync and work so I called a guy who knows a guy who is the computer guru of gurus. Long story short, all he added to the above scenario was using one of the 4 units the focusrite 18i20 for the internal "word clock" as in BNC connector, out of the 18i20 and daisy chain to the rest of the units in the same order as the toslink setup. Then it all locked sync and now I just tested it and I recorded one channel each from all 4 interfaces into Samplitude Music Studio and they all recorded in sync, I think. I had a little tiny delay while recording but playing them back they seemed fine. I thought that the Toslink ADAT connectors would carry the sync signal, but I could only get one at a time to work, but for me, at least, the added word clock connectors did the trick. I'm really jazzed so far, now that I found that out. Marc

This works

By tutash from Brooklyn, NY
Music Background: Pro

I've had so much trouble with interfaces. I've had USB, Firewire interfaces that have always seemed to let me down when I needed them to work.
My preamps (Presonus D8 x 2) don't seem to fail, and with this kind of connection (digital from the preamp) I don't have and latency at all, and that is just astounding!

This thing is a miracle for people who've been struggling with drivers and all-in-one audio interfaces.

This does ADAT and SPDIF. It does this perfectly. I'll never go back.
