Best pedal i have ever owned!
I am primarily a pro level jazz drummer but also play a lot of blues/rock/funk gigs, mostly a heel down player but also heel up when i need more power. I own a very old Sonor pedal that I've played for years and more recently purchased a Sonor Perfect Balance that I use for more straight ahead, double headed, small bass drum work that I need to play fast and light. The other Sonor pedal was getting long in the tooth and tended to slide around a lot, also causing my bass drum to move even with spikes down on the legs on a good carpet. I had had enough and went looking. My brother had a DW 9000 chain drive which i took on a blues gig and it played really well, but I didn't like the pedal weight (heavy). Action was smooth with a lot of punch and swing to the beater. I really wanted to try the Trick but was a little concerned about how it attached to the hoop and also the compression spring was a question mark in a few ways. Also, it was impossible to find in stores and was backordered months. The Trick and this DW machined pedal were a toss up and I ended up going with the DW even though considerably more expensive. I unboxed it and connected it to my 18" Gretsch and was amazed at the sensitivity I could get with zero adjustment. Light to heavy strikes, smooth as silk and zero adjustment in my playing. Ok, it just replaced my Perfect Balance pedal for playability for my small jazz kit. Onto a blues harder hitting gig. I attached it to my Pearl 20" bass drum. Another winner! Consistent power when needed, dynamics.. and... the bass drum did not move!! The pedal stayed perfectly attached. I will add this is a chain drive and I felt zero slop or flop. I have always played belt drive but this was just as smooth.. actually smoother with all the other improvements in pedal design. Your foot is in complete control through the stroke. This is a FANTASTIC pedal. I was looking for a pedal that would be great for the blues/rock gigs but instead found a pedal that plays better for every type of gig i do. Hope this helps you decide. There is a lot out there. This one being the most pricey.. but you know what they say.. buy once, cry once.
Amazing
Never have owned a pedal this amazing, so many options to customize at your finger tips. So easy to adjust anything without breaking your neck. Still trying to find my favorite combo with this pedal but man is it fun trying to figure out. This machine is so smooth plays like butter! I’m absolutely in love with this product. Sweetwater is the best online music store I’ve ever dealt with and the customer service is the best in any business. Patrick is the best and helps me with anything I need. Thank you Sweetwater!
Amazing
Man this pedal in something serious. I can do doubles and triples with no problems. I never played on a pedal with an adjustable cam. The adjustable cam gives you a different feeling every time you move it. The 4 ten gram weights that you can put in the beater makes the pedal that much better as well as the beater faces that comes with the pedal. This pedal is so doggone smooth. All I can say is the pedal is amazing. The only thing I don't like is the pedal comes in a dw bag instead of a hard shell case, when you pay that much money for a pedal I think it should come in a hard shell case, other than that like I said earlier the pedel is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
Amazing
This pedal is an engineering marvel. I've used the 9000 series DW as well as a Pearl Demon Direct Drive pedal (which is incredibly smooth)-but this pedal is just perfect for my tastes. I would imagine the direct drive version is blazing fast and smooth-but I like the feel of the chain drive and the adjustable cam as well. The BEST part of this in my opinion is the easy adjust chain tension. Springs are notoriously hard to adjust-nearly impossible without removing the pedal-then if it's not right you have to do that all over again. With this beauty you just crank the lug with a drum key until it feel right! awesome! DW has knocked it out of the park with this pedal-pricey but soooo worth the money!
Awesome pedal
My opinion best chain drive pedal on the market very smooth fast action light weight for transport.
