PRS DW CE 24 "Floyd" Electric Guitar - Burnt Amber Smokeburst Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Figured Maple Top, Maple Neck, Maple Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and Floyd Rose 1000 Tremolo - Burnt Amber Smokeburst

Dustie Waring's (Between the Buried and Me) signature CE 24 adds pummeling crunch and pitch-perfect trem work to the familiar 24-fret PRS recipe. The secret tonal ingredient is a pair of DW Tomahawk pickups from Mojotone. These specially wound boutique humbuckers blend alnico and ceramic magnets for an exceptional balance of clarity, punch, and heat. A true Floyd Rose 1000 tremolo bridge, given extra clearance by way of a shifted-back 5-way selector, gives you complete freedom to bend and dive the night away. It's all made irresistible by the CE 24's breathtaking maple-capped mahogany body and legendary maple-on-maple touch response. Additional artist touches for the PRS Dustie Waring DW CE 24 Floyd include a DW-profile maple neck — based on a Pattern Thin profile but with a slimmer front-to-back feel — and a selection of exclusive finishes.

Unbeatable value

By Josh from San Antonio, TX on January 3, 2023 Music Background: Amateur player, just for fun, play in church, praise and worship, classic rock, pop rock, I dabble in the metal

I picked up my DW Ce24 about 5 months ago and I have zero complaints. I think in the PRS lineup this model is a steal. It comes with the 5 way blade switching found on the core models. The matte neck is wicked fast and easy to play. I love the way the maple neck looks, and the FR tremolo system is rock solid. My biggest concern when I order this guitar was whether or not the pickups would be versatile, given that it's an artist model for Dustie, but I have not been disappointed. Both pickups are very usable and sound great clean, but when you add gain the sustain is mindblowing. I play praise and worship and I can't get a bad sound out of this guitar, doesn't matter if I'm playing it through my helix or tube amps. If you're interested in this guitar and are thinking about buying it, DO IT. It sounds great, is fun to play, you'll impress your friends and intimidate your enemies.

It's feels like a holy relic. It thrums somehow.

This is the best guitar I have ever touched or played. I think it has field lines like a charged particle or a magnet except they are fields of primary effect. Point blank. It is unreal to me how purely a guitar a guitar can be. I'm going to try to play it with my mind when I am at work. I think it might have an alignment of neutral good and have the power to turn undead. That means its like a holy avenger but not as stiff about the legal details. I honestly did not see that on the website. The Kracken releases this guitar. I think this guitar might make me a better person like my kids did. I believe this guitar can collapse Schroedinger waves thru consciousness. I want this guitar to be proud of who I will become as a person. Monsters in horror movies tell their children scary stories about this guitar. A lighthouse doesn't run all over the island trying to save boats a lighthouse just shines. So does this guitar and the boats see it first. This guitar survived the explosion on Krypton but only just arrived here because it wasn't really in a hurry. This guitar refuses to Doppler shift... unless it feels like it.

Incredible value. Best in class.

I come from a high end vintage background. Gibson's mostly.
I wanted a "shredders" axe that still had a bit of class. The DW delivers. With a good rig, these things can cover any tone. The vintage vibe is easy to find in the MojoTone pickups. And of course metal tones are also on tap. The CE definitely favors a Fenderish hand-feel, but it's a tonal chameleon. Most versatile thing I've ever played.

Very nice guitar with a few gripes

By peter costanzo on January 22, 2024

First, it's a beautifully sounding, playing and looking guitar. The 5 way setup along with the pickup choice creates some fantastic crisp tube sounds both diry and clean (i.e. Sweet Child O'Mine..) on the neck,. Love the maple neck and satin back on the neck. Love the locking tuners. Now for the gripes, action was much higher than expected ( I did not opt for sweetwater setup), neck is a bit too narrow for my test, sloppy volume and tone knobs - seriously don't understand the thinking with the knobs/pots. Way too lose (as it too easy to rotate with a sloppy feel in general). And finally, why why why did I get a floyd floating tremelo. I really don't use it much and because it floats it's just a pita in general). Minus 1 star for the factory setup and sloppy pots. Overall, it's a fantastic guitar, really great tones, and a killer looking guitar. I just need to put in different pots.
