Yamaha DTX-PRO Drum Module
Yamaha DTX-PRO Drum Module Reviews
Yamaha’s DTX6 series sound module, the DTX-PRO, sets you up for massive expression at a mid-level price point. Choose from 40 preset studio-sampled drum kits, or create up to 200 custom kits using the DTX-PRO’s 400 onboard assignable sounds. Further tone modification is possible in seconds flat using the DTX-PRO’s Kit Modifier section — dial in room ambience, compression, and special effects with the twist of a few knobs. You’ll even find training tools and a record function inside to make you a better performer. No band in sight? Pull up the DTX-PRO’s 37 onboard play-along tracks and jam the night away.

top quality
Takes some time to learn the menu and get where you need to be if you are not up on technology. I'm not one for computers and all the new technology but after watching some videos and plugging in a phone to use the settings app it made it easier to get going. I will always believe real drums are better and you have more control of real cymbals when playing but when you need to control volume and have as close to real as you can get the yamaha is the way to go. Joe at Sweetwater always takes care of me and they have the best service you can get.
Not User Friendly
Great unit with lots of options, BUT the preset kits sound TERRIBLE and are unusable compared to the 500 series brain.
Spent a few hours screwing around and attempting to adjust to an acceptable sound.
You will need LOTS of time to program a good sounding kit.
NOT USER FRIENDLY AT ALL AND NOT PLAYABLE OUT OF THE BOX !!
Only 2 preprogrammed kits sounded half decent, but not gig worthy and the rest are not drum kits or usable.
Changing tones and tuning was much easier on the 500 series brain.
Wanted to return this but toughed it out.
It does sound really good when you get through all the BS
I would not recommend this unit to anyone other than an advanced programmer.
I will bring my old 500 brain to gigs as a backup for this.
Fantastic!
Really good sounds. Ease of use somewhat. Also very capable of expansion in the sound library!
Awesome module
I bought the Yamaha DTX6K3-X drum kit. So I am exploring what this module is capable of. I love the first kit and pretty much have played with the training songs. It has 256 note polyphony!! The DTX700 only has 64 note polyphony.
The DTX PRO has 14 pad inputs. I will soon start building some of my kits. You can build 200. Once you start using it, you will discover how user friendly it is. I'm just touching the surface of what this module can do. Very happy I bought this unit and also thanks to Blake and Sweetwater for keeping me totally informed about shipping and any questions I had. AWESOME EXPERIENCE all the way around.
