PRS DGT Electric Guitar with Bird Inlays - McCarty Tobacco Sunburst 10-Top Reviews

Solidbody Electric Guitar with Mahogany Body, Maple 10-Top, Mahogany Neck, Rosewood Fingerboard, 2 Humbucking Pickups, and PRS Gen III Tremolo - McCarty Tobacco Sunburst

The PRS DGT is a vibrato-equipped electric guitar designed to the specifications of ace guitarist David Grissom. This beautiful guitar features a carved, figured maple 10-Top with a mahogany back, and a 25-inch scale. You'll find this slightly smaller version of the PRS wide-fat neck extremely comfortable. The DGT's mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and jumbo frets deliver huge tone, whether you're playing rhythm or lead. You also get Grissom's preferred humbucking pickups, wiring, and control layout: two volume knobs plus a tone pot with a push-pull coil split. Ready to rock? You'll be well-equipped with the PRS DGT.

The Only Electric Guitar You May Ever Need

By Robert Giesick from San Diego, CA on December 26, 2023 Music Background: Active musician

Wow! This guitar is absolutely amazing. This is the most expensive guitar I have ever purchased, but it is an investment in my craft. Here are my impressions so far:

PROS
1) The build quality and choice of materials are the best I have ever seen on an electric guitar.
2) The finish is gorgeous.
3) Even with 11's, the neck is very easy to play, and the 11's help keep the intonation on this guitar spot on.
4) This guitar could easily replace my Gibson ES-335 and ES-175 with its throaty voice and range of tones.
5) The guitar has a lot of chime and sustain with the humbucker pickups.
6) Plugged into my Fender Chris Stapleton Princeton Reverb I can get fat, archtop tones as well as classic Les Paul tones.

CONS
1) The price point for this guitar limits how many people can afford it. Maybe the SE version is a better option for most players.
2) The guitar and case together are very heavy, and I might need to use a gig bag to transport the guitar for gigs and recording sessions.
3) The coil-split tones are OK, but not really necessary.
4) The guitar will immediately expose the limits of an amplifier. I get a bit of cabinet resonance with the guitar going through a Princeton Reverb Tone Master amp. Going through the '62 Chris Stapleton Princeton Reverb, however, the guitar gets a gorgeous sound.

SUMMARY
The guitar is state of the art in electric guitars, and the best sounding electric guitar I have ever owned.
