these headphones do away with any buildup that you are going to have of sub frequencies in closed back headphones BUT even at that they are still the best headphones on the market if you enjoy open back designs. i prefer closed back because i love subs and low end, but to someone trying to get a flat view of their song, this is the pair for you. if you are not in a quiet environment, try one of their closed back headphones.
A great upgrade from my old ATH-M40X headphones
Had some old ATH-M40X headphones and I thought those were great. I got these on the recommendation of my Sweetwater salesperson, Paul Rowan (He's the best!). I could not believe how clear these sounded compared to my old headphones. I mostly use these with my Solid State Logic SSL2+ Audio Interface and they are just great. Because of their 600 ohm impedance, I have to drive them harder, but I found that for my listening levels, I never have to max out the volume. These headphones are also super comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. All in all, this was one of my better purchases this year.
True sound
As long as you have hardware good enough to drive these they produce sound indistinguishable from the real thing. All while being able to hear the dog knock something over in the next room lol. Highly recommended. How am I seriously the first review on these? They should be selling like hotcakes...
