DT880 600 ohm headphone
I previously owned the 32 ohm version of this, but found it underwhelming and sold it. Might have been my gears at the time, though. When I got this, I immediately paired it with my Little Dot mk2 tube amp and was blown away. It has a neutral bright sound signature and the tube amp gives it a warming effect. Best paired with powerful amps so you get the full experience. Kudos also to Sweetwater for the assistance.
Best Reference Cans Around
I've had the 250Ohm versions for years and served me well; upgraded to the 600Ohms. They look great, feel great after hours of wearing without ear fatigue. the best part is the sound. These are the best at getting out of the way. When I build presets I can transfer them to different PA systems and still sound the same as when mixed.
Worth every penny
My old headphones just weren't cutting it for critical listening and mixing so I asked some audio friends what they listened to mixes with when they couldn't use studio monitors. Overwhelmingly Beyerdynamic was recommended because of the detail, clarity, and flat frequency response. I absolutely love my new DT880s!!! They're super comfortable with glasses on even for extended sessions but most importantly they sound amazing. My only complaint is the straight cord, it's kind of a bit to manage as opposed to a curly one and it transmits any handling noise up to the ear. Other than those two extremely minor things they are awesome. Because they are 600 ohms it takes a little more juice to run them but my Scarlett interface has no problem getting loud enough.
